I died in front of the stairs room in 98F, with Pass Scarf. A Psybeam from Claydol and I got confused, then, a missed seed, and a second Psybeam. I stopped playing for years.
I remember grinding for Mew and I finally found it as a kid I found it around floor 70 something, knocked it out... and it didn't want to join. Gave up after that. Lol. I knew it spawned because of the move log said "Mew used Transform."
Mew is such a tough encounter to go for. Its not surprising its elusive, storywise it makes sense, but with its recruit chance not being that high its just a pain to go for
I started playing Red Rescue Team again, a couple months ago, to finally finish my childhood game. The last I played it was over a decade ago 😳 And I had just beat the final Regi, the following floor Mew was my next encounter, recruited him immediately, and got my ass out the dungeon. Had no idea how hard he was supposed to be to find 😄
since i use emulator i can save anywhere , i saw "MeW uSe TrAnSfOrM" therefore i saved in fronta everyone and it was hiding as a mawile so i named it "MEWILE"
So fun fact about getting joy seeds, each run through of team hydro refreshed the Kecleon shop, so you can go back to the shop after each run and check for a joy seed. And with the huge amount of grinding you’ll be doing trying to evolve everything, you’re bound to get a few from the shop
Yup, that's correct. In the no wondermail version you check it between every round of team hydro. Unfortunatly the odds of them spawning aren't that high and Joy seeds only result in one level. If I recall I only got about 40 in an entire day of nothing but grinding team hydro. Not nothing, for sure, but with how many things you want to use them on it's also not a great amount either
yeah that’s true, but with a pierce band you can level 2-3 things at a time with them. 3 being if you bring 2 into a dungeon and get a recruit in there
@@mr.krustykrustI’ve tried the pierce method and getting a recruit to throw the seed, but when I try to make the recruit the leader it won’t let me. I wonder why?
@@BarcelonaBlitzerbecause the new recruit is not a permanent member yet, and if you were to control that member and be defeated, the game wouldn't know what to do
I'm surprised Ponyta isn't on this list, though I'm aware there's stiff competition. It's also pretty deep into Joyous Tower, runs away after taking some damage, and the other pokemon on the floors it appears on are pretty tough too, especially if your leader pokemon is slow to gain experience.
I'll be honest with you, Ponyta was on the list of Pokémon I considered for this list. It honestly just barely missed out on the number 10 spot. The main reason I ended up not including it over the others is that it does spawn quite regularly (11% on floor 57, up to 13% on floor 59). Getting to it is a pain, but finding and recruiting it is quite easy from there. Definitely a top 15 Pokémon, but it just barely missed out on top 10 for me.
They made recruiting Mew unnecessarily worse in DX. I'm just lucky to have even gotten it myself in Red Rescue Team. And also, I'm going to be 100% genuine with this one bit, *I ALWAYS KNEW THAT I WASN'T CRAZY ABOUT EXEGGCUTE BEING INFURIATINGLY RARE TO FIND.* Screw Howling Forest. That name bestows painful unfulfilled memories in words that I can't describe.
The Pokémon Company apparently had no choice but to make the game becuase of a honest threat made by the Ghost gym leader that my brother somehow tirggered inside of the game. The message was directly referencing the Pokémon Company and the game title. At first I did not believe it, and then again i have seen my own share of experiences that I cannot really explain or even really recall for that matter.
There is one experience that clearly stands out to me though, and that is the experience of fixing the catchable ghost pokemon stats in the ghost tower. We were told directly by Nintendo to stop doing what we were doing to allow other people to contribute to it as well, and to give ourselves a break from doing this as well to only step in as needed. Point being that I have had completely different experiences playing the pokemon games than you, and am likely thinking differently about playing them than you as well. The other people who were attempting to do what were doing eventually figured out what even did in the first place, and later admitted that they could not have even done it all what we somehow managed to do. Stats on pokemon matter in ways that you probably can only see for yourself in bizarre situations to see exactly how they matter to begin with. Other people struggling to understand how certain stats worked NEEDED TO SEE how the damage worked under certain conditions and circumstances.
Just wanted to say something before yhe new pokemon games come out just to give you something to think about. This specifically was done in a time when no one even knew it was even going on or anything was even happening at all. Case in point that certain stats matter on certain pokemon more than you are actually aware of. Nintendo and Gamefreak will likely deflect themselves from even answering the question. No even attempted to ask Nintendo this specific question in any of the interviews that I read about them, although they might not thoguht of bringing up the conversation into the interview. Even the early explanation of them explaining Vaperon and why it has the acid armor attack explained nothing about it either. They only mentioned related to it only once that I could find, and it was their direct thoughts on being asked exactly what I mentioned earlier. I do not really trust what other people has to say about certain topics unless they claim to know what they are talking about.
@Bakes 13 Nintendo likely does not want to bring up any of this information publicly considering how they actually function as a company might be completely different than you might think it is as well. This is also exactly why Nintendo probably let's very, very people into the actual database considering that it contains more information than they are thinking would be in there, and might think that it is a mistake in the first place. Certain pokemon actually came from a result of non-video related information as well.
I actually managed to recruit Mew when I was a kid, tho that save sadly got wiped. Buried Relic is GENUINELY one of my favorite dungeons in any Mystery Dungeon game, Pokémon or otherwise, and I love the mechanics unique to it!!
Woow, I was a trooper then. I remember I did everything in my power to get Chansey because it was a cute pokémon, back when I was 13 or so. I didn't thought it was THAT hard.
An impressive feat for sure. Chansey is such a nightmare to get. It's doable, but it takes a lot of effort and willpower to recruit it unless you get extremely lucky.
Mihiyo I am pretty certain that I accidentally saw the content saved by them but only because the company knew exactly what they were doing with the text and what they were talking about as well. Maybe Mihoyo also has the text saved of what I what was somehow realistically writing up about Chansey's stats when I was honestly really, really, young somewhere safe that Nintendo probably sent them them a while ago as well. It was honestly probably the best written text that I have still have ever written up to this particular point in time even now. Nintendo was also using them to IMMEDIATELY correct Chansey's stats as well.
Chansey I believe already got fully corrected before anyone else even noticed that there was a problem with its stats as well. Nintendo was pretty confident in what they were explaining to me privately about why they intially designed Chansey's BASE stats among the actual reason they view Chansey as inside of the game as well. I believe that they even mentioned the possibility of online fighting as well getting potentially made in the future as well. I also knew already to a certain extent on how soft-boiled was going to be used in future game titles and made certain that the all the stats still aligned up with them as well as I knew it would eventually get used as well.
Definitely not the first Pokémon you'd think about when talking about the hardest recruits, but it is such a nightmare to get. Good thing Wish Cave exists, because realistically that's the only worthwhile way of recruiting it
I just had to open my save file and check which one's I'm missing from this list. The first thing I noticed was lvl 36 Dragonair on my party so that definitely checks out. I was also missing Pidgey, Milotic and Blissey. Although, I did have 2 Chanseys so the hard work had already been done. I had 2 Kecleons for whatever reason and every single legendary. Safe to say I did grind this game as a kid quite a lot.
Safe to say getting Dragonair wasn't the hard part. Grinding it out is something else XD. Good stuff getting 2 Chansey, they are a pain to get. Lots of gummy grinding to get it evolved though
To me personally a very hard recruit was Snorlax. I never seemed to find one in Howling Forest, and when I finally found one he decided he didn't want to be on my team.
Snorlax is definitely up there. Its a super rare spawn and far from guarenteed. I think the only thing setting it apart from some of the mons that did make the list is its slightly higher spawn rate (though barely) and it spawning on slightly more floors. Easily top 20 worst ones though
Zubat were actually thought to be extinct but you see the MC is still a player controlled human so all the zubat became active the second word got around. Just to make sure that the player is never safe from zubats.
When I played this years ago, I didn't have a problem with recruiting mew at all. If you use the Ingame menus and just check the recruitment list everytime you go to a new floor, it literally tells you if mew is there
While certainly true, there's also a realistic chance you can go through the entire dungeon with it just never spawning. There's a few floors where it's about 2-3% for it to spawn, but most floors it's under 1% (going as low as 0.64% iirc). While the odds of finding it are decent, it can still be a pain.
i expected to see kecleon at number 1 and wanted to disagree, but yeah i agree with blissey, even tho kecleons recruit chance is .1% or something, you have to remember that you get swarmed by those things, so you kill probably hundreds per hour and at 1000 you should be expected to already have gotten one. i think just finding enough gummies for a friendship evolution like blissey thats monotype should take at least an hour aswell, maybe even more, not to mention even getting a chansey in the first place might already take you as long as it would take you to get kecleon and on top of everything, you need another chansey if you wanna recruit all, so yea xD
For number 5 there is an easier trick, Mew will only show on the recruitment page if it's actually there on that floor if I remember correctly, so just check it at the start of each floor and you're good, and once you've beat it escape orb and try again
Nope. In fact, bc its name still appeared, I remember I always wondered if that meant there could appear more than one Mew, even when you had recruited it.
I was surprised Mew is here. I've never really had any difficulty getting it. You have so may opportunities to get it, and it's not hard at all. It just takes time.
Nearly ignored that list, cause I assume the list would be less interesting (I mean everyone knows Kecleon is hard- exepected alot of long dungeon Legendaries here). You seem very passionate about 6 and 7 (MIlotic & Gyarados). Any of your 10 listings you consider bad game design? btw, every thought about making a hardest Pokemon to evolve list?
The main one that I would consider just poorly designed is Blissey. Having it be a rare encounter is fine, having it be deep in a tough dungeon is fine, but those 2 combined make it just awful. Also Exeggcute being only 0.6% at 1 floor of 1 dungeon is just weird. Especially when you consider it's super common in 2 other dungeons, you just can't recruit in either (Tiny Woods and Purity Forest). I've considered making some more top 10's and hardest evolutions is definitely one I'm considering. The main this is that I like to tie these lists in with a speedrun I've actually done over on Twitch. To me, it makes the list much more meaningful and speaking much more from experiences (and by extension allowing me to go so much more in-depth)
"Can't recruit fully evolved Pokemon" *Has 3 of the exceptions on screen at the same time as its mentioned* Also, Lv 7 on is ALWAYS 30000 for Magikarp... its so freaking stupid. It might have been noteworthy that with no Wondermail that Leaf Stones are ONLY in Wish Cave too so Exeggutor is double pain.
I've heard the exceptions of fully evolved Pokemon being unrecruitable are Blastoise, Golem, Tentacruel, Feraligatr, Porygon 2, Swampert, Shiftry, and Cradily
@@infectorrobert that list sounds about right (if I recall it's the teams from the dojo), but than their recruit rate is so bad they might as well not be recruitable
I don't think Deoxys is all that bad. I've had more trouble with Groudon and Rayquaza. I kept expecting Snorlax to make the list. I fainted on my Blue Rescue Team save, just so I could rescue myself and get another go at Exeggcute, Pidgey, and Snorlax by generating monster houses.
The advantage with groudon and rayquaza is you can save at the mid point and keep trying. Every groudon attempt is effectively 1 floor that way and every rayquaza is 8 floors. That's why I consider them easier. Snorlax is slightly less bad statistically than some of the other howling forest mons, but it's up there
I’d also include; Hitmonchan and Hitmontop - require numerous irons to get defense at right level which aren’t that common Vileplume, Victreebell and Exeggcutor - leaf stones hard to find (Shiftry can be recruited though) Politoed and Slowking - King’s rock hard to find Marill, Jigglypuff and Clefairy - require high IQ Snorlax - low spawn rate Raikou, Entei and Suicune - requires travelling 30 floors each attempt, Suicune especially as Politoed can use Perish song meaning even lvl 100 will need reviver seeds.
The irons are usually not a problem if you plan ahead. In my experience they're common enough that you should be able to get more than enough while recruiting other things. In all of the recruit 'em alls I've done I'd always have plenty well before needing them. I'll agree on all of the others mentioned though. Imo they're not as bad as the ones in the top 10 (snorlax's spawn rate is double that of exeggcute for example) but they are certainly annoying Pokemon to have to do
Actually, just for fun I tried to complete Team Blue to 100% at an old savefile of mine like 2 years ago, I do a bit and if I have enough of grinding I stop playing for a couple of Weeks or 1-2 months every time. I always thought Purity Forest was the worst part but after that, one of the last Pokemon I need is Chansey..... By time I learned how annoying Joys Tower is. Till now I failed to recruit even one Chansey, haven't played for 4 months but I think now is the time to beat my Nemesis. (Nice Video, I agree to the entire list👍)
Chansey is terrible. It could honestly be easier to release Jirachi and recruit it in Wish Cave. Still tough, but honestly so much easier than recruiting Chansey/Blissey the normal way
@@Alternis127 Oh yeah, for sure. This option is only viable if it is the very last pokemon on the list. Otherwise you'll just get a bunch of junk you could've easily gotten elsewhere
Even though its from the newer game. I prayed so hard recruiting feebas. I had like maxed squad up and friend bow. Feebas appeared right when I go to the next floor. This was a pain in the butt because not only that dungeon is hard very early but also shiny (YES A SHINY) gyrados was on to me. It literally hurts to paralyze it and leave because I don't want to mess up my squad up. Luckily, I got it first try even tho I was far from feebas and I can't tell my extras whatsoever to not attack it. I definitely expected feebas how long it took for me.
This list is so bogus. Doesn't contain Ponyta/Rapidash which are both just as hard as Chansey. My list is: 1) Chansey/Blissey 2) Ponyta/Rapidash 3) Kecleon 4) Celebi 5) Mew 6) Jirachi 7) Mewtwo 8) Everything that needs 200 IQ for evolution 9) Dragonite 10) Gyrados Pidgey and eggxecute are not that hard since howling forest is short and easy.
Real talk, wish cave and joy seeds are your friend. If you're not restricting yourself in any way, I'd recommend wondermailing in a bunch of missions that give you joy seeds and spamming those. If you want to go the slightly more pure route Wish Cave is a good option. If neither.... well, good luck on the grind. If it helps anything at all, you get more experience if you defeat something with a linked move (so Team Hydra with a linked AOE move works quite well (I usually use Agility+Powder Snow))
@@Crrool I do it on my original savefile so the time isn't really an issue other than being boring so I'll not go for joy seeds yet. But I still have a lot more to get anyway, Feebas, Magicarp, half of the water type evolutions, and there is a lot of them. I have like 5 area completed
In Dx (I did play the originals ages ago but no longer have them.) Most of the pokemon on this list plus honorable mentions are solved thanks to the edition of pre evolutions like Munchlax, Dungeons that are revamped like Oddity Cave and etc. However, Kecleon is actually slightly easier in Dx but depends on the player's skill level. Dungeon shops are indeed everywhere like before but Joyous Tower gives you the option to get a Level 5 Kecleon in the higher floors. So there the question is: How badly does one want a Kecleon on the team and at what level? Mew isn't that hard to recruit in DX but maybe slightly trickier. Unless I'm wrong, floors 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 98 are your chances. Mew could be found in a monster house on those floors or sleeping or roaming naturally (Transformed or just as itself). If Mew doesn't appear on those specific floors of 10 plus 98 in the Buried Relic right away, one can get it to spawn by waiting awhile on one of those floors. Also thanks to leveling up while in dungeons, the pokemon on your team level up too.
Eggxecute is so rare that i didn't even know it was directly recruitable because i never encountered it lol Also, i kinda expected Ho-oh to potentially be in this list because the quest chain to get it is so long. But now that i've watched the video i see that there are many much more annoying hoops to jump through for other Pokemon
I agree on the list mostly. 1. Chansey, Blissey On top of Spawning in level 1 dungeon, it is hard to stay in the floor 50 60 longer. Azumarill and Granbull will drain the joy seeds if u don't bring kecleon as a leader. 2. Kecleon : Agree it is quite grindy Players are required to either get lucky (encounter the kecleons that do not use screech and tailwhip) or grind Metagross/Tantacuel/Torkoal/Electrode to get him pretty easily. 4. Exeggutor : Even with illumination strats, the entire process of recruiting him quite annoying. with oneroom orb and illumination, one can encounter 2 exeggcutes each runs but grumpigs and houndoom are extremely annoying to deal with for the entire turns.
I know this is late but could you do something similar to this for the DX remake? I’m lost trying to find Nincada because it is not found in lapis cave unlike in the original. At least, I think. There are no good guides online for where all of the Pokémon can be found. Most are slap dashed and put together by reusing the same locations from the original, which is wrong in some cases. I know it can be found in the last dungeons in the postgame but I don’t wanna have to go through ALL of that trouble just for one nincada.
Unfortunately I cannot. I have never done a recruit 'em all for the remake. I only ever did this for blue rescue team and explorers of time. I plan on doing something like this for super mystery dungeon soon-ish (though it may still take quite a bit before I'd actually get to it). There aren't any plans for the remakes yet
As a kid, I did not like trying to go for Mew. But once. And only ONCE of my many many hours, I found Mew twice. Once early on the dungeon, and the other one, more late on the dungeon. I keep hearing that Mew only spawns once and that makes me wonder what the heck happened there. If it was a bug (to be fair I did find a glitched Kecleon once) or if Mew has a limited spawn rate? I have issues with this game and I also have a Blissey card unable to activate but that I don't want to get rid of for reasons. And egxecute (never remembering how it's written) can spawn in Wish Cave (I think??) so it can be easier to get as well. Never did tho so don't trust me on that. Great vid. Never knew of the Blissey one.
Playing the remake and coming back to this, one thing that is perfectly clear is that the original red and blue rescue team, as great games as they are, have zero respect for your time. -Almost all evolved Pokémon never join you, so you have to do ludicrous amounts of evolving, leveling each of them individually and tracking down all the incredibly specific evolution items. - Several legendary Pokémon that appear at the end of dungeons having recruitment rates below zero, so even if you come there with a friend bow at level 90, there's a big chance you went through 30 floors for nothing and have to go through them all for another chance. - You can only have 4 Pokémon at once, so building your team happens at a snail's pace. - Having to go through western cave, a 99 floor dungeon, TWICE to recruit Mewtwo? What were they thinking? - I get that Mew and Mewtwo are meant to be special, but Mew being such a low spawn rate AND having a low recruitment rate is not necessary. It appears so scarcely you may wonder if the game is glitching out and preventing it from spawning properly. It's that rare. Plus what the game never tells you is that it can only appear on initial spawns, so unaware players may wait out endless turns on each floor until the winds come with a tight belt trying to get it to spawn, but it never will that way. Recruiting them all was much more of a tedious grind than it needed to be. It honestly feels like they intentionally made it that way for padding purposes to artificially extend the length of the game. I'm glad they fixed so much of this nonsense in the remake.
Its the same with the older main Pokemon games they were harder but they gave you that sense of accomplishment because the newer games have become too easy
@@anonymous2858 While I believe the newer main series games are easier, I do not believe that this is a proper comparison. The differences are more than just superficial. Going into a 30 floor dungeon like fiery field over and over again just to have a small chance to recruit a legendary Pokémon isn't really a “challenge”. Doing Western Cave the second time when the first run through was already overstaying its welcome wasn't a “challenge”. It just takes a lot of time. Things taking a lot of time isn't really a factor that I regard as being a challenge. It's just tedium that you have to sit through and bear. Can there be something that takes a long time AND still be a challenge? Absolutely. Purity Forest in the original game was challenging in a great way. It wasn't challenging because it took a long time. It was challenging because it took a long time AND there are so many opportunities for things to go wrong and lose, AND you can't simply breeze past it after becoming overpowered (which happens in RT sooner than you think). Unlike Purity Forest, doing Fiery Field for the 10th time to try and recruit Entei when all your stats are at 255 doesn't have any challenge to it whatsoever. Furthermore, picture this: You go through the slow process of going to a friend area, making that Pokémon the leader, putting all the rest on standby, having that Pokémon go to Luminous Cave, then evolving them, then going back to the friend areas to repeat the process about 100 times over. Even assuming meeting the evolution requirements was no issue at all, (which it is because they make it disproportionately convoluted but that's another story), what part of that is challenging? Rescue Team DX allows for evolving to be done more quickly, and with a less convoluted system with a universal item, evolution crystals, which are just rare enough so that you have to put in effort to get them, but still being proportionately beneficial for that amount of effort. Meanwhile, the older mainline games were hard because they necessitated strategy on a level unlike that of the later games. If you didn't grind, you needed to plan your moves carefully in a lot of situations, especially with the drastic level spike of the elite four, which genuinely felt satisfying to clear if you didn't take the easy way out and grind. Later mainline games just don't have enemy Pokémon trainers use any overwhelming strategy to demand something from the player. But even before all of that, forced EXP sharing in the later games really makes your team overpowered and removes all challenge, because the game is not designed around what level you will be because of it. BDSP is the biggest offender, because they have all the trainers be the same level as they were in the originals, but have forced EXP sharing when the original did not, so you will be at a much higher level than you were ever intended to. EXP sharing for the newer PMD games work, though, because of the fundamental difference in the kind of games they are. PMD is a dungeon crawler that’s challenge comes from resource management and dealing with the unexpected. There are many dungeons that have specific Pokémon, and the game encourages you to bring a party best equipped to deal with the enemies you find there. If you're going into an ocean dungeon, a team of grass and electric types will help you. You aren't really encouraged to bring a diverse team that's able to handle anything anywhere you go, but rather select just the right team for the particular job at hand. But if you're picking a different team specifically equipped for a specific dungeon, you're ignoring other team members. For PMD, it's a game where you need all your team members to be up to the task, and you get so many. If you try to level them all up individually and evenly, you'll never get them strong enough to do anything in a reasonable length of time, and if you only level up a few, well then all the others are just gathering dust, never to be used. EXP sharing between your party members in PMD makes sense for how the game is meant to be played, but not in the mainline games. I can't really agree that tedium makes for a challenge. Case in point, writing this incredibly long reply for nearly an hour was tedious, but not challenging.
im really fond of blue/red rescue team but going back to them after playing any newer pmd games (explorers included)... they just feel so scuffed, obnoxious and ridiculously time consuming, specially in the post game. glad it got a remake with most new quality of life changes
I agree with the only exception of Deoxys. That one is rough. Most others are pretty doable though. That said, it handles fully evolved pokemon the worst imo
So risky to do the Meteor Cave without X-Ray or something to move through water. I remember Deoxys getting stuck in squares far from land. Then, while grinding XP there (1000 from each one), I always took a Mobile Scarf, X-Ray Specs and a Tight Ribbon.
I recently emulated RRT, had a legit copy for years, but I figured save states would help with recruiting ‘em all a lot. Then I found out that dungeon generation is on a seed system or something: once floor 1 loads in, every subsequent floor is set in stone. Pretty sure recruit chances are the same: you step next to an enemy Pokémon, your recruit chance has already been rolled and save states won’t help. Still glad I’m using them, but they can’t reroll RNG.
This actually works on console too. You quicksave before the stairs and upon reloading every floor is already rolled. It's certainly possible to manipulate recruits that way, although it is quite hard in practice since a lot of factors come into play that you dont always fully control (your current level for example). Also not making any missteps is hard
The hardest thing for me is to find those damn leaf stones in wish cave. I have beaten the dungeon like seventeen times and havent had a single kecleon shop on the right floors. Atleast Jirachi has given me other recruits from it.
Hey man how does wosh cave work can you make multiple wishes or does once you recruit jirachi does it stop you making wishes? Currently trying to recruit all atm and may use the wish to get a few of the harder pokemon to get
Whenever I run the game I always use Jirachi for the 10-ish hardest recruits. You can keep wishing as long as you haven't obtained Jirachi. You do have to redo the dungeon between every wish however.
do i just press no when it wants to join and keep doing it over and over i will probs use this method for chansey will pressing no stop me from recuriting jirachi later on?@@Crrool
@@michaelwyld7690Pretty much, yeah. You dont get to pick specifically which pokemon shows up the day after. It's just one random one you don't already have
well okay how difficult celebi is to get depends on your skill/ if you recruited kecleon or not, and either way having alakazam makes purity forest pretty easy, almost as easy as kecleon would and its actually easy to get alakazam instead of kecleon, so if you know what your doing its not difficult to get celebi, however if you were a kid 15 years ago then yeah it would be very difficult/ impossible, however i was able to beat it back then because i found a wonder mail generator online that would generate you a code to save yourself if you ever fail, i think i died on floor 90, used this and beat it xD with my starter charizard
I remember as a kid defeating some random pokemon and then it just turned into mew and mew wanted to join me. Very hard to replicate the emotions I felt in that moment 😂
In every rescue team blue/red video i see they instakill everything even at low levels. Is the game extremely easy? I saw a video where they fought all the bosses and they killed all the badass legendaries without ever getting touched easily.
The difficulty is usually not so much by how strong each encounter is but rather the sheer amount of opponents you have to beat without getting to heal. There are some broken mechanics though for sure. Linked moves and overlevelling can certainly make bosses quite easy
I totally agree with the top 10, and I have all of them, so I'm only missing some of the grinding ones. If there was a Top 20, surely they might be, probably in this order, Jirachi, Snorlax, Delcatty (if not your starter) (it's mainly bc Skitty is too strong in Joyous Tower), Rapidash, Mewtwo, and the other three pseudo-legendaries: Tyranitar, Salamence or Metagross. Lapras is also a thing here, it's not so common to appear and in a non mandatory place. I'm trying to remember which other pokemon took a lot of grinding, I remember Cacnea, Wailmer, Teddiursa... May be one of them. Am I missing someone?
-can def agree pidgey and exeggcute never spawned when i would hunt them -as for leveling i personally liked western cave as in the later part you would get like 1200 exp PER pokemon just have to deal with sand stream from Ttar -deoxys is definetly a step above the other legendaries as theres no pre save point before him and only having 3 items means if you use the friend bow you only have 2 items left and deoxys DOES have pressure so killing 20 of them WILL wreck your PP -good thing about mew is if it uses transform you will actually be notified about it in the chat box also in the remake after floor 35 it spawns on every floor ending in 0 and 98 -i remember purity forest at the end i was literally running for my life from aerodactyl but because of kecleon i was able to do it because hes a crazy fast leveler
That's very lucky. The Dojo leader pokemon all have a 0.1% recruit chance when fighting them. Very hard, not something you'd normally go for, but it is possible
I used RNG manipulation to ensure the teleport would get me to the stairs right away, giving Kecleon no time to catch up to me. I manipulated all of the randomness to ensure it was safe to do so. You can steal from Kec, but getting out of the floor tends to be painful if you arent right next to the stairs
i remember i was able to recruit an Execute and kleckeon when i played this as a kid Didn't realize how lucky i was until now Mew and Deoxys were a nighmare lol I was eventually able to get Deoxys but never got Mew :c
I like how my hero and my partner are Mew and Celebi, because that way you won't have stress for these two mythical Pokémon. But yes, I went out of line doing illegal things using mods or hacks to get those two Mythical Pokémon (Mew and Celebi), sorry but I did it. I couldn't resist since Mew and Celebi are my two favorite Pokémon from this franchise. Anyways, I was able to progress the whole story with Mew and Celebi at the helm. And yeah, I was able to recruit Kecleon with a record of 3 or 4 hours. It wasn't too much time that I wasted, but it was hard to get it in my fifth try. Other Pokémon like Milotic, Chansey, and Dragonite gave me more headaches than Kecleon, since first of all their spawn percentage and also their recruit percentage. And this took me a total of 562 hours to recruit them (if I remember correctly), at least it was fun to recruit all the Pokémon. :)
The time I recruited every Pokemon, I used the western Cave for leveling. From Floor I think 40 on, several Pokemon give at least 1000 xp, so using X-ray goggles, reviver seeds and huge apples Dragonite only took a couple times going through. And I can't really agree with Mew and Deoxys on this list. At least as long as Ponyta, Rapidash and Chansey aren't on this list. Going so far through the joy tower is simply pain in my opinion, while going though the buried relic is really simple, at least with a level 100 Pokemon. Same with the meteor cave
Does only one Mew spawn on a single floor or in the whole dungeon? So let's say I encountered one on floor 38 and it didn't join. Should I use an Escape Orb or could I encounter it again in the same run, for example on floor 67? I also recruited all Pokémon ~1,5 years ago and used the Joy Seed manip in Lightning Field. I gave up on Exeggcute after not even finding one after hours and didn't even try Chansey, so I used RNG to get both two times. The same with Ponyta, because it spawns late in Joyous Tower and at that point I was just lazy after already using RNG for the other two. But the rest was 100% "legit", if you don't count the ways I got the Gummis and Joy Seeds
If you find Mew on floor 38 and it didn't join there's still a chance it shows up on a later floor. It's 1 chance to spawn per floor but it can spawn multiple times in a run through the dungeon (and similarly it can spawn 0 times in an entire run). The spawn odds differ a little from floor to floor, generally favoring earlier and later floors from the middle floors (I don't remember the exact odds, but
Even still the video idea that they wanted to make probably had to be made specifically for a convention with the information only talking about it inside of that specific video. The convention logo would be on the specific video as well and not uploaded to their specific TH-cam channel at all.
Definitely the information is included inside of the game on exactly why Milotic and Gyrados are very difficult to acquire inside of the game. They would not speak to me about it specifically saying that I was insane and then backed off. They did mention about the jodo and that it definitely helped them out by leveling up faster assuming that they do not die or something like that.
This video idea I think he actually uploaded to TH-cam under a completely different name for his channel unless it is a different person channel. I did hear his voice from somewhere else though.
I believe that the pokemon cannot be recruited in Tiny Forest because it was coded as a dungeon primarily coded as a dungeon only to be done in the very beginning of the game. I believe that I found their explanation behind the exact reason as to why pokemon cannot be recruited inside of the dungeon. The explanation at least seemed like they said it at least, I do not remember if they actually mentioned that they said it or not inside of the message likely thinking that no one else would attempt to write the information about this specific information online. I believe that the message did infact state something very similar to what I said in the previous sentence.
I have already had some similar theories to it in my head really early on when I was actively interested in playing the game, which I have forgotten for a really long time now.
I believe that I even knew exactly what would said exactly roughly in this exact video idea roughly minus the exact encounter rates and the other details mentioned inside of the video. It was definitely weird to think that I even knew this basic information considering that I was not even actively playing the game at all, I was not even that far into the game either most of the time to even encounter them to begin with.
I actually recruited a pidgey there and the game rejected it from being included inside of the game. The game didn't say that was rejected from joining the game, which might mean the devs might have explained somewhere else on what exactly the game meant by the message in the first place. Strangely it might matter who is actually playing the game, and if you actually plan on recording/ writing it down somewhere/ what is currently in your possession what it will actually be saying. Knowing sort of how the Pokémon Company comes with their pokemon ideas, I believe that Pidgey maybe always had the ability to do this; it just chooses not to.
After all Gamefreak already gave permission to say on social media that they could always make a pokemon do something that the general public will not likely understand very easily. Pidgey may or not have admitted it when we managed to trigger it. It was very insistent on NOT WRITING DOWN ANYTHING THAT IT WAS TALKING ABOUT ON A PAD OF PAPER!!!!! It was actually not speaking at all when we were actually going to get a pad of paper to write some of it down what it was talkinga about. I have seen my very short share of weird experiences playing pokemon games, and Pidgey definitely mentioned that you not imagining this that this a definitely a real experience occurring right now. Even if Pidgey did admit it, it absolutely made us forget that it even talked about it in the first place. It even mentioned if someone else had triggered it, it would have talked about something else completely differently.
Pudgey did mention something about it spawning in Howling Forrest with it finally being allowed to be coded inside of the game to be spawned in to finally get recruited as well as the possibility of two more games coming out in the future of something regarding time and darkness theme separately for each game title maybe coming out sometime in the future. It was wanting to speak more about the other concept that it might have known about already but did not want to get enough trouble.
Man. Mew. The furthest I ever got as kid was buried relic. I thought Mew was floor 99. I remember getting to floor 97 and encountering a monster house and dying. Never got Mew or Floor 99.

*Laugh in Jirachi Wishes spam Still to complete the Book on the main menu, you have to face every Pokémon... I never managed to face Blissey. Screw Joyous Tower
I manipulated the randomness of the game. Basically I knew which seed I was on in the floor generation and I used that to walk a specific way so I would always teleport to the stairs. As long as I walk the same I always get the same outcome (this can be done using quicksaves as that sets the seed value to a known value)
You can rebattle them until you recruited them. Once recruited they won't be there anymore unless you release them, after which you would be able to recruit them again
@@Crrool dude my hole life I've been scared to battle the legendaries cuz i was worried i only had 1 shot. So even if they don't join i can always redo the dungeon and challenge them again?
@@christophermeza3332 Even if they don't join you can redo the dungeon and try again. Some legendaries are guarenteed (Ho-oh and Mewtwo for example), the others you can retry as often as you like
Eh. I have to hard disagree with the Number 1 spot. Kecleon is still tougher by quite a few more reasons. Chansey you can actually recruit with the Friend Bow and a little luck. Kecleon is a nightmare because of its minmax stats, its double speed, the swarm, and its lower than heck recruit rate that makes Legendaries look like total pushovers. Yes, getting them to spawn is no issue, but without a good setup, you're not recruiting any camo-lizards.
Not perse. Nobody has done a recruit 'em all speedrun for Mystery Dungeon DX yet, so its hard to say what that top 10 would look like. Chances are there are a lot of similarities though

Recruiting Kecleon AND Mew in this game has to be one of the feats I will put on my working resume XD
The last I played it was over a decade ago 😳
And I had just beat the final Regi, the following floor Mew was my next encounter, recruited him immediately, and got my ass out the dungeon.
Had no idea how hard he was supposed to be to find 😄

Thats a big oof right there. I've probably done something similar though, I imagine most of us have as a kid
How about Exeggutor and Pidgeot
@@QuasarBuasarEeveeTheUziFan Pidgeot is easy because it evolves from Pidgeotto who can be recruited in Mt. Thunder

@@joshernsteen2066 dude… what are you talking about
@Bakes 13 Nintendo likely does not want to bring up any of this information publicly considering how they actually function as a company might be completely different than you might think it is as well.
@@Crrool in a way maybe the game knows how hard it is. Bellsprout in town mentioned Chansey and interacted differently if you were one.
@@iara0 Oh really, I never knew that
Mihiyo I am pretty certain that I accidentally saw the content saved by them but only because the company knew exactly what they were doing with the text and what they were talking about as well.
Nice video! I didn't even know that Blissey is so annoying to get
Definitely not the first Pokémon you'd think about when talking about the hardest recruits, but it is such a nightmare to get. Good thing Wish Cave exists, because realistically that's the only worthwhile way of recruiting it
@@Crrool not too surprising when you think of how “fun” it was to try and catch her back in Gen 1
It would have been funny if the rarest to encounter was a Zubat due to them being occupied with attacking trainers
Puedes usar el deseo de jirachi para reclutar a los dos
I recruited Kecleon, Deoxys and Mew when I was a kid, but you're right, I don't think I ever saw a Blissey or a Chansey, let alone recruit them
For number 5 there is an easier trick, Mew will only show on the recruitment page if it's actually there on that floor if I remember correctly, so just check it at the start of each floor and you're good, and once you've beat it escape orb and try again
Nope, it shows up on the page if you are at floor 36+ and have the item in your inventory.
I don’t think it’s bad design but it is odd how Pidgey, one of the most common Pokémon in most main series games is so hard to recruit in this.
"Can't recruit fully evolved Pokemon" *Has 3 of the exceptions on screen at the same time as its mentioned*
Also, Lv 7 on is ALWAYS 30000 for Magikarp... its so freaking stupid. It might have been noteworthy that with no Wondermail that Leaf Stones are ONLY in Wish Cave too so Exeggutor is double pain.
Los iniciales de agua(y golem) se pueden reclutar curiosamente
I've heard the exceptions of fully evolved Pokemon being unrecruitable are Blastoise, Golem, Tentacruel, Feraligatr, Porygon 2, Swampert, Shiftry, and Cradily
@@infectorrobert that list sounds about right (if I recall it's the teams from the dojo), but than their recruit rate is so bad they might as well not be recruitable
I mean if we're being pedantic all the legendaries are fully evolved
Came back to watch this now that the game re-released the red version on the Switch. I am surprised that Snorlax did not make it on the list!
Snorlax is slightly less bad statistically than some of the other howling forest mons, but it's up there
I’d also include;
Hitmonchan and Hitmontop - require numerous irons to get defense at right level which aren’t that common
Vileplume, Victreebell and Exeggcutor - leaf stones hard to find (Shiftry can be recruited though)
Politoed and Slowking - King’s rock hard to find
Marill, Jigglypuff and Clefairy - require high IQ
Snorlax - low spawn rate
Raikou, Entei and Suicune - requires travelling 30 floors each attempt, Suicune especially as Politoed can use Perish song meaning even lvl 100 will need reviver seeds.
The irons are usually not a problem if you plan ahead. In my experience they're common enough that you should be able to get more than enough while recruiting other things. In all of the recruit 'em alls I've done I'd always have plenty well before needing them. I'll agree on all of the others mentioned though. Imo they're not as bad as the ones in the top 10 (snorlax's spawn rate is double that of exeggcute for example) but they are certainly annoying Pokemon to have to do
Nah
Great video, yeah, I definitely agree with the list, keep it up!
Actually, just for fun I tried to complete Team Blue to 100% at an old savefile of mine like 2 years ago, I do a bit and if I have enough of grinding I stop playing for a couple of Weeks or 1-2 months every time.

Thanks for these videos! Pokémon mystery dungeon is my favorite Pokémon game!
Also thanks to leveling up while in dungeons, the pokemon on your team level up too.
that seems like a bad idea as kecleon still has powerful movesets such as fury swipes and agility
Eggxecute is so rare that i didn't even know it was directly recruitable because i never encountered it lol
Also, i kinda expected Ho-oh to potentially be in this list because the quest chain to get it is so long. But now that i've watched the video i see that there are many much more annoying hoops to jump through for other Pokemon
I wish you would show the clip of you finding the pokemon you're talking about
I agree on the list mostly.
1. Chansey, Blissey
On top of Spawning in level 1 dungeon, it is hard to stay in the floor 50 60 longer.
Azumarill and Granbull will drain the joy seeds if u don't bring kecleon as a leader.
2. Kecleon : Agree it is quite grindy
Players are required to either get lucky (encounter the kecleons that do not use screech and tailwhip)
or grind Metagross/Tantacuel/Torkoal/Electrode to get him pretty easily.
4. Exeggutor : Even with illumination strats, the entire process of recruiting him quite annoying.
with oneroom orb and illumination, one can encounter 2 exeggcutes each runs but grumpigs and houndoom are extremely annoying to deal with for the entire turns.

Kecleon still gives me nightmares to this day
2:05 list beginning
I like how blissey was hard to recruit when I turned it away multiple times 😭
?? You can't recruit Blissey directly, only Chansey
Out of all the Mystery Dungeon games this game and Red Rescue Team handled Legendary Pokemon the best.
I don't know how I did the full recruit back as a kid like 15 years ago. Young me must have had a lot of willpower.
I thought would be on here. If i remember correctly at max boost it is a 1% join rate after a 20 floor dungeon
What about the remakes? Will you make a list fir that game?
Not anytime soon. I haven't actually done a recruit them all for the remakes, never got around to it.
@@Crrool if you do ill be waiting eagerly
Yaaay new video!
That's rough. Finding evo stones can be a hastle sometimes, but not finding one in 17 runs is just brutal
Wonder mail
Man, the Mew one I remember so much, I just got it and left on a holiday and when I returned my little sister had reset my game on my old GBA.
You know the worst part about the chansey line is that you need to go and get it twice 😂
-can def agree pidgey and exeggcute never spawned when i would hunt them
-as for leveling i personally liked western cave as in the later part you would get like 1200 exp PER pokemon just have to deal with sand stream from Ttar
-deoxys is definetly a step above the other legendaries as theres no pre save point before him and only having 3 items means if you use the friend bow you only have 2 items left and deoxys DOES have pressure so killing 20 of them WILL wreck your PP
-good thing about mew is if it uses transform you will actually be notified about it in the chat box also in the remake after floor 35 it spawns on every floor ending in 0 and 98
-i remember purity forest at the end i was literally running for my life from aerodactyl but because of kecleon i was able to do it because hes a crazy fast leveler
Ive got a graveler from one of the training stages drom the dojo. Which shouldnt be possible.
But i got one
That's very lucky. The Dojo leader pokemon all have a 0.1% recruit chance when fighting them. Very hard, not something you'd normally go for, but it is possible
Wait, near the 20min mark, you can just get whatever from Kekleon shop & then teleport out to safety without paying??!!??
I used RNG manipulation to ensure the teleport would get me to the stairs right away, giving Kecleon no time to catch up to me. I manipulated all of the randomness to ensure it was safe to do so. You can steal from Kec, but getting out of the floor tends to be painful if you arent right next to the stairs
i remember i was able to recruit an Execute and kleckeon when i played this as a kid
Didn't realize how lucky i was until now
Mew and Deoxys were a nighmare lol
I was eventually able to get Deoxys but never got Mew :c
anyways I was wondering if u do the same with the other dungeons recruits most difficult?
Getting through that Gyrados section was exhausting...
Kyogue has given me so many nightmares with recruiting - even though it's at 50%
I got him first try. Same as Lugia
Pidgey is the only reason I ever bother with Howling Forest
I always saw snorlax on the recruitment list yet it never appeared each time I was in the dungeon
It's just a rare spawn.
I believe that the devs who made the game even said that they even expected this type of video to be uploaded to social media eventually.
Nobody talking about how he’s using a skarmory as himself?!?!?
Omg my childhood, i remember that purity forest, holy shit, i had to recruit kecleom, cause in this game, kecleon is the best for the dungeon.
That freaking camerupts and their earthquake or magnitude FFFFFFFFFFF
*Laugh in Jirachi Wishes spam
Still to complete the Book on the main menu, you have to face every Pokémon... I never managed to face Blissey. Screw Joyous Tower
I would have expected to find the Pokémon being recruited on this video
I had a glitch in the makuhida dojo and recruited golem
How is Alakazam teleporting and finding the stairs every single time?
I manipulated the randomness of the game. Basically I knew which seed I was on in the floor generation and I used that to walk a specific way so I would always teleport to the stairs. As long as I walk the same I always get the same outcome (this can be done using quicksaves as that sets the seed value to a known value)
@@Crrool so this can only be done on an emulator? Not a hard copy?

Does anyone know if the legendaries are able to be re battled or is it just 1 chance and it's over?
So... the Red Rescue Team equalent of the list?
It's the exact same
Ive beaten deoxys like 30-40 times with the friend bow. Still havent beaten it
I was expecting jumpluff to be number 1 lol
Does this remains the same in Mystery dungeon DX for switch?
Not perse. Nobody has done a recruit 'em all speedrun for Mystery Dungeon DX yet, so its hard to say what that top 10 would look like. Chances are there are a lot of similarities though
In mystery dx you can recruit Pokemon in purity forest
