Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.

For me, Midsommar is the most beautiful of all festivals. People wear wreaths of flowers in their hair and families dance, sing and hop around the maypole like frogs. The Swedes can really celebrate. Thank you Daniel, I'm curious about this video.

I am highly interested in Sweden and eager to experience the iconic celebrations of the Summer solstice but how can I do as a stranger, with no family or personal connections in the country, as I understand that Midsommar is largely a family event, celebrated with close relatives and friends? Is it common to find public celebrations in parks, such as the one shown in this video? Tack för svaret.
There are public celebrations in every city and town more or less, so i don't think it would be hard to find one.
What kind of snacks can you buy during Midsummer in Stockholm? Have been able to see what they sell (traditional or not)? Great video by the way :)!
