Great explanation, thanks ! One trick for you : "Control + Click" on the knob to return at its initial/original position ;) I do this on almost all my plug in, soft synthz and software and it works most of the time !
Thank you so much for putting in the time and effort to share your knowledge. The Circuit Tracks is my first groovebox ever, and I'm blown away over and over again by the capabilities and potential this little black square with knobs actually has. Amazing work team Novation, and very very solid education and information -CALC-. Much Love
Thank you for your kind words, Stefan! It's great to hear that you're enjoying Circuit Tracks, we really appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback with us 🙌🙏
I picked up a used tracks for $250 and was instantly impressed with that thing when I started messing with it. It’s a great companion to my rhythm… I had run the original circuit and was able to get familiar with the track quickly, but was really surprised how much better the tracks is. Good vid and info.
This is awesome, I really appreciate the synthesis refresher, I learned some new things, and it really shows off the amazing power in this relatively inexpensive device. Also, thanks for the bit in the beginning that shows how the tracks needs to be set up in order to use a midi keyboard so that I can do this myself. Great production and editing also.
I can't thank you enough -CALC- and Novation! Very insightful look, this will help me to really dive into the synth engine of the original Circuit that I own.
Thanks for the patch creation lesson, Calc! You've made me want to put Rythym down for a sec and whip up some patch presets on Tracks. I'm gonna post this video to my bootleg white label jams page, Tracks and Rythym. If you get a chance, post some jams there, Calc! ⚡
Wow...! The synths are waaaaaay more powerful than I thought, and I'd heard that they were powerful... It would be quite helpful to have a manual for all the features! If I could request a feature: You know how you can drag and drop e.g. an LFO to filter cut off, and it'll have a little purple circle next to it? If would be helpful to be able to delete that by e.g. ctrl clicking or shift clicking on it...
Pity you couldn't assign the tracks so you could choose to have more synth tracks or drum tracks .. midi tracks are cool but having extra synth tracks would have been better for people who don't have other gear so two assignable tracks would have more sense to me but it's still an amazing groove box
Excellent tutoring Calc. I am struggling to find some written documentation for the editor. Basically everything covered in this tutorial, but in a PDF sort of file. Are you aware of if this exists?
Afraid we haven't created a document like that but we appreciate your feedback on this. The Synthesis Tutorial provided in the MiniNova User Guide covers much of what's discussed here. The Mininova synth engine is obviously slightly different but it shares the same DNA as Circuit Tracks, so much of the information provided in the user guide here (Page 9 onwards) applies and should help you better understand the parameters provided in the Synth Editor - fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/s3fs-public/downloads/MiniNova%20User%20Manual%201.01%20English%20-%20EN.pdf
These deep dives are so helpful, thanks a lot. So I got an LCXL to control more synth parameters, but knob movements are not registered in Components when I am connected to the computer. Any idea if this is possible and if so how?
Thanks for your support! Glad you're enjoying them. Launch Control XL is a great way to access additional synth engine parameters however, changes made using Launch Control XL might not be reflected when creating a patch on Components as its primarily designed for use just with Circuit Tracks.
Is there any chance of the Circuit Tracks getting another 2 internal synth parts? For example in a firmware update, allowing the user to use the 2 midi parts as additional synth parts? I really thought Novation would have expanded on this with the Tracks, giving the OG Circuit was released 7 years ago, also any chance in a future update of enabling chromatic sample playback on the drum tracks to use for melodic parts on the Tracks?
I want an iphone app that you can control the synth engine like components shown here. And also included in the app a nova synth engine which you can control with midi 1 and midi2 and route the two synths with stereo cable, one channel left one synth and one channel right synth2. This was you can route back the audio in line1 and line2 and control it. Just using the iphone together with circuit tracks you get a powerful editor and 4 synths with circui tracks. Portable novation powerhouse 💪🏻
The Components Synth Editor is essentially a controller for Circuit Tracks' internal synth engine. Connecting headphones/speakers to Circuit Tracks and pressing the pads on Circuit Tracks Note Mode, or the keys on a connected keyboard controller will allow you to hear the changes that you're making with Components.
I wish I watched this earlier. I’ve mostly been using the Tracks to control other stuff. I didn’t realize how much I was missing because I never tried the software. I had no idea the synth engine was so legit.
Hi guys, I used to have a OG circuit and really liked to use it in conjunction with my main sequencer the MPC, as a step and realtime sequencer and then 'print' these sequences into the MPC benefiting from the great features the Circuit's sequencer has, but in order to to this I would disable the midi note recieve from the Circuit to avoid getting infinite midi loop feedbacks as I would go midi out from Circuit to midi in MPC, and also MPC midi out to Circuit midi in. Recently bought a Launchpad Pro MK3 with the same workflow purpose in mind but was surprised to not see the 'midi rx on/off' feature on LPP mk3 midi settings... Is there a way to have the Launchpad receiving only clock in, but ignoring midi notes on its input?
Hi Johan, there's not a way to ignore note input. It's only possible to change the incoming MIDI channel or turn the clock receive/transmit on or off. If this works with your setup, you could try using Launchpad Pro [Mk3] as clock source. Hope this helps!
@@NovationTV Same way I did with the OG , I would design pairs of complementary patches . Sometimes I’d have components up and ready for tweaks doing an otherwise dawless jam .

I bought td3 for 70 euro used.

I thought of something useful to pass along to the developers - the ability to mute just one pad/note in the sequence. This could serve many uses.

excellent!
That is something that should have been supplied with the inital Nova engine Synths

It's weak. Compared to my Digitone, Hydrasynth and Deluge, it's honestly a joke.
wait, circuit isn’t as good as $3000 worth of synthesizers?
you can spend a lifetime making sounds with hydrasynth but make good sounds and music with the nova engine.
