She was marvellously close to perfect for a cover;I doubt someone could/would better it. Two other ashaar including the maqtaa(last shayer) of the Ghazal are also absolutely gems. Hamayshaa main nay garibaa’n ko chaak chaak kyaa Tamaam umr rafoogar rahay rafoo kartay Na pooch aalam e bargashtaa talaee Aatish Barastee aag jo baraa’n ki arzoo kartay ------------- For those who find the two words difficult: *Bargashtaa talaee means bigraa huwaa naseeb or “bad luck”. Baraa’n means tez baarish or heavy rains.
Ye arzoo thi tujhe gul ke rubaroo karte Hum aur bulbul-e-betaab guftgoo karte I wished that I could make you face a flower And then try to talk to the flustered nightingale [In Urdu poetry, Nightangle and Flower are considered lovers.
