It's western interpretation of poverty. Vedic poverty is absence of wealth, money, name, fame, health , friends relationship, and even time is also included while calculations for poverty. Beauty of Vedic richness is everyone is rich in some aspects. And richest might not be rich in all aspects. Balance in society.

Free may be bad but subsidies are good because it helps the society in the long run. Like public subsidised public transportation, education subsidies, business subsidies etc. Sometimes not every part of thr economy has to make a profit but collectively they can exceed if they work for the longer goal.
Chinese industries are highly subsidised and they are now competing at the global level. Even US subsidise it's industry
