I agree with CD player opening , I used to open it and clean the lens and stuff, i also did same with tv , Caset tape player. almost all the tech which stopped working , has to be opened . and fixed.
we are living in cosmetically intelligent world rather than having actual curious peoples with proper attitude towards science and knowledge
all thanks to business industries and tech brands they are just extracting all the juice possible to stay on top by giving too much in average pricing making technologies feel cheap and easy to get,
as a result people are even getting bored with ground breaking technologies like chatGPT in year or less this is also discouraging software engineers from grinding for excellence.
also too much business influence is breaking the echo system of technology community because business don't care about value of science they mean money only

You are right sir, actually i am software engineer and I oftenly give service about computer related problems and I charge for formatting OS and if I had busy with my work and someone request for computer formatting and I deind than i send basic tutorials to engineer students than also he say charge money u want but do my work...

even lots of people doesn't even know port forwarding who are working in professional tech support
and yes I am 1999(just before starting of 2000😅) but still do almost all fields (Science, Mechanics, Electronics, Computer, painting and many more)repairing, making, understanding and I am proud of it.

I think you are being too harsh on the 2000 kids. 2000 kids do not know basic technology because their parents have solved the issue already. Let's elaborate with an example. Most men who didn't go to different places for jobs or colleges do not know how to cook, clean etc. Because at home that problem never existed for them. Same is with technology with the kids from 2000, their home already has wifi, they didn't have to connect to the internet on dialup connection.
2nd example, My father knew how to grow crops, I don't have that knowledge because I never had to go to the fields like him.
But I think this following line will clear the blame on the 2000 people.
Tough times create tough people, tough people create easy times, easy times create weak people then the time goes tough again for the next generation of people.

Really appreciate your efforts, I was born in 98 but really spent a lot of time learning skills fixing around things. It's a reality that people are getting dumb each day.
Every now and then my friends ask me for basic help, literally they are so dependent sometimes.
I think it's techy people like us who are curious to learn and apply new skills that are moving the knowledge forward.
In the coming times, there will be mental slaves (a lot of).

I remember formatting my PC with windows XP because I installed Max Payne 2 game on it, although it was formatted a day before.
My father refused to pay me for repair and somehow I managed to do it myself. Got a pirated CD, no internet.
Went to the repair shop multiple times to get the product key (I was a 10 year old kid in 2008).
Luckily things worked and I'm a software engineer now..
