Thanks for the video. I am considering buying and it was helpful. One question. Say I have the sonoff set up on schedule to turn on every day at 1pm and off at 2pm. I would need to set this up via the smartphone app. What if the next day my smartphone was off or it broke, would the sonoff still work? Or does it need the smartphone on to work on the schedule?
Hi you have such cool videos! I’m looking for a prebuilt esp8266 + 2.4 ghz wifi module to flash some opensource firmware onto to control my rgb color (Milight / Miboxer ) lights with. I can’t build one myself currently but can flash the firmware / software. A product like this, that is built and has a case but allows you to put your own software would be great. Do you have any product recommendations or videos? Thanks so much!
will the desk lamp switch override the sonoff switch? I want an arrangement where the mechanical switch should be able to override sonoff. is that possible?
Is there a way to set a timer so the sonoff only turns on for only a few seconds? Looks like the eWeLink software only does minutes? Is there other software that works with the sonoff?
Nice Video. I have a question.. How many devices can be connected or controlled from a single mobile.?? or is it possible to control a device from multiple mobiles??
HI, I have some questions... Hope you will answer me... 1/ Can two devices (mobile phone for example) controller be use at the same time with one sonoff ? 2/ Can i have at the same time a classic sitch and a sonoff on a ligth ? Sorry for my poor english
Nice video. But the device has a line and neutral of input and output are very near. We need to careful while connect otherwise they may possible of connect both neutral and line of outpput and cause a spark. That's what I feel about a device. Thanks
I have a few of these and I they seem to work really well except the other day I noticed that with my Christmas lights after it shuts off the led ones are still on very very dim but the regular lights are off. Anyone know why that could be? Maybe the relay inside isn't closing or opening the circuit all the way? I'm not an electrician so I have no idea what would cause that or if it's something I should worry about. I have been unplugging the lights from the switch since its been doing that.
Can you control this with a desktop PC running Windows? And would it work if the phone is in a different network to the switch (eg. If you're at work and you want to turn off the lights at home)
Hello, if the power has been cut from this device does it reset the state of the relay? for example I turned it of via wifi disconnect it from 220v and connect it again will it still be turned off?
Thanks for the review. I have 2 questions if you anyone else who sees this might reply? 1- Is this compatible with Apple's Homekit? 2- If a power outage happened for 2 hours, would sonoff be on or off when the power comes back again?
What about wiring this up using a short extension cord, with the male plug on one side and female plug on the other. That way it can be moved to different devices and you don't have to cut the cord for your device.
Good idea, and I have done with before with these, but be careful as the little screws don't hold the wire that well. One tug and you'll have an open hot connection that will definitely bite you. I can't attach a photo, but what I do with mine is wrap the wire above and below the device (so the wires are now going the opposite way from how they stick out of the device, one above, and one below) and then use zip ties (4, 2 for each wire) and pull them as tight as possible with a pair of pliers, leaving a small amount of slack coming out of the device to prevent breakage. As an added safety measure I then hot-melt glue the wires into the sockets and as the glue is cooling off I then rescrew the covers on (so it fills in nicely). Might be a bit overboard but I have 2 toddlers and if one came loose it could end badly
I have sonoff and connected to my WIFI it turns ON/OFF perfectly. but I have problem it get stuck eveyday and it shows offline. I have to reset the power every time to make it work again
Each device has its own unique ID like the4 MAC address on an Ethernet chip. When the device is powered on it connects to the central server in the cloud over your wifi internet connection. When you log into your account from your mobile device, phone or tablet as I do, anywhere in the world over any kind of internet connection, your devices will be listed in the application. They will show the state of each device, On, Off or Offline. Except when they are offline you can toggle their state.
Boas!
is it possible to power it separately? I am intending to use it to power on and off my heating system, which doesn't go to the main power grid so I won't get any way to power the unit unless with an external battery. thanks, AL
Sounds like you need the other device, Sonoff SV - Low voltage Input, switches AC or Low Voltage DC. There's no case for the SV device and it's Limited to only 10Amps. A workaround solution would be to use the Sonoff SV in DC low voltage mode settings and have it switch another High Amp relay or Triac if switching AC. Go to the manufacturers page at itead dot cc to get the specs
I have 12 of these throughout my house and shop (I use them both as an overall switch for things like lamps/ fans etc etc and as integrated switches for large appliance (like turning off the spinner on my popcorn popper but keeping the heat lamp on) and I'll confirm they do work with Alexa/ amazon echo (you need to download Ewelink and then the Ewelink smart fan skill)
Sorry, could you help me ? I registered an account on the Ewelink Android APP, i received SMS with the verification code and i finish the registration procedure... but i'm not able to login in the app ! I see every time the error message Login Failed ! But the credentials are correct !! Have you any Idea ?
I did every thing here, the device is added in the list but remain offline. (I can see it in the router). I saw the same on your video but you cut at this moment. Can you explain this problem? Thanks
Is there any way to make this work together with existing light switches? So I can turn lights on with physical switch on the wall and turn them off with sonoff and the other way around?
What happens if your phone's baterry dies? For example I set up a timer on the app. Does the sonoff memorize the timing or is it fully dependant of your smartphone?
It can only be controlled from the internet. Even if your phone AND the switch are connected to the internet over the same router the command still comes from Internet. There are versions that work similar to the car door lock and support 4 or more devices independently which do not require ANY kind of lan connection.
There's any real wireless switch that you can put on the wall like a normal one to control that module and still control via app , if that's possible and exist can anyone give me some information? Thanks in advanced
While have everything disconnected from mains power (obviously), you could desolder and remove the pushbutton. Then, solder a new one. It should solve your problem
Your device must be connected to the internet over wifi. Your phone too has to be connected to the internet via whatever means, data or wifi and you must log into your account with the central server. Your phone can be right next to the device or half way across the globe, it will work.
sir, if i used this ckt. in electrical lock control, so what will be safety ? if any person installed same application in his mobile...he can also operate or assess my system?
No. First of all you have to register on line with the server and create account + login password. Only you can control it and that too ony after logging in.
First someone to intrude must knowing the ID of the device powering your electrical central lock then sould have Android app. installed on the phone wich controls those devices as I understood from watching the video.
I don't think is safe with this product to go to max current 10A like the product said. (120V*10A=1200W) I'll try max 300W to be safe so if you have LED bulb is perfect.
Viva Rui. Conheces alguém que esteja interessado neste aparelho que falas no vídeo? Tenho um novo e por erro meu pensei ser outro tipo de aparelho e não vou dar lhe uso. Se poderes ajudar. Obrigado. Abraço
From anywhere in the world? You mean if I am living in England 🏴 and I am from Pakistan 🇵🇰 so I can control a device in Pakistan via sonoff in pakistan from England ???
Very bad / Unsafe to use metal - Non insulated tools when working with mains Voltage, Always use fully insulated tools to prevent Electric Shock. Especially if you have not worked with mains power recently or before.

Thanks for this video. I purchased something similar and I've been having troubles with it since it's a 12 volt one.
Hi. Will this work if you don't have Wi-Fi in your home but have internet access from your phone and in close range to the sonoff device?
Excellent app my brother!
I have a question Sonoff works with any android device ??

Whats the max watts/amp this can work with our appliances. Will it work with oven or heater?
How do you control a momentary switch such as a garage door button on the wall of your garage? Is there a relay needed or a different model # switch?
Is it work with airconditioner , AC have an regular current withdrawal 14amp. But inrush current may be high. So what we can do in this case.
I have a few of these and I they seem to work really well except the other day I noticed that with my Christmas lights after it shuts off the led ones are still on very very dim but the regular lights are off. Can you control this with a desktop PC running Windows? And would it work if the phone is in a different network to the switch (eg. If you're at work and you want to turn off the lights at home)
can it be used for switching bathroom water heater..?
if power is lost do you have set up devices again ?
Hello, if the power has been cut from this device does it reset the state of the relay? for example I turned it of via wifi disconnect it from 220v and connect it again will it still be turned off?
Does it works on mobile hotspots
power on reset keeps it off until a new command is issued
Thanks for the review. I have 2 questions if you anyone else who sees this might reply?
1- Is this compatible with Apple's Homekit?
2- If a power outage happened for 2 hours, would sonoff be on or off when the power comes back again?
Can you use multiple devices for the one sonoff device.
Please Send me reply
Great video!

That's what he did...
Hi,
After SONOFF is successfully configured, what if there is no internet connection. Will power be allowed from SONOFF device?
internet down, you are stuck. simple
In this case always keep the switch (in POWER ON MODE) and control it from the app, when down use ur switch instead
Still will work if your connect with the same wifi. But will not work if different wifi.
I have sonoff and connected to my WIFI it turns ON/OFF perfectly. but I have problem it get stuck eveyday and it shows offline. I have to reset the power every time to make it work again
Can I put this on a ceiling lamp for ex Kitchen?
Thank you for the explanation
Is it possible to manage multiple switches with the App?
Excellent. Thank you.
can it be control with my cellphone when I am outside? using the house wifi.
can it be use 2 ways - manually on and off/by cellphone too?

Can we run 1 hp 5amp 220volt ac motor
My question is can I control this switch from any place when I m not in my home??
Nagendrakumar Kumar the same question I have too
Yes. It can be controlled via LAN, only when you on your home wifi or via their server when you away from home
Well done video! thanks
Will this device work with a 12v DC power lamp?
Thank you, very helpful
Never use a metallic screw without isolation on power line. You never know when you forget to take out the power cord out...
Very helpful video. Btw does it work with Amazon echo??
I have 12 of these throughout my house and shop (I use them both as an overall switch for things like lamps/ fans etc etc and as integrated switches for large appliance (like turning off the spinner on my popcorn popper but keeping the heat lamp on) and I'll confirm they do work with Alexa/ amazon echo (you need to download Ewelink and then the Ewelink smart fan skill)
thank you very match
your vedio is very helpful
i have the same but mine worked until i connected a light spot in it after i connected the sonoff did not want to connect to wifi again. frustrating
Is there any way to avoid the central server?
Sorry, could you help me ? I registered an account on the Ewelink Android APP, i received SMS with the verification code and i finish the registration procedure... but i'm not able to login in the app ! I see every time the error message Login Failed ! But the credentials are correct !! Have you any Idea ?
That never happened to me... I encourage you to create a new account, reset your password or contact their support.
I did every thing here, the device is added in the list but remain offline. (I can see it in the router). I saw the same on your video but you cut at this moment. Can you explain this problem? Thanks
Hi Axel LAMBERT,apparently I have the same problem, how did you solve it?
No, I just don't trust EWeLink Cloud at all. So I reprogrammed then with a personal software using a trustful cloud.
Is there any way to make this work together with existing light switches? So I can turn lights on with physical switch on the wall and turn them off with sonoff and the other way around?
Yes, but you have to put relay spdt 120 Volt ac at the output and connect like an 3 way system
or 220 volt relay if you are in europe
Do you know if the firmware and app allows you to use multiple Sonoff units on the same network?
Yes, the original firmware+app allows you to add multiple sonoffs in the same network.
yes. any number
What happens if your phone's baterry dies? For example I set up a timer on the app. Does the sonoff memorize the timing or is it fully dependant of your smartphone?
Thanks. That makes sense
it counts down through the cloud server. thats where the timer is.
Steven Turner how will I connect my sonoff wireless switch to my home network?
Sonoff support amazon echo?
can i use it for 0.5 hp motor? and does it have a option to run on wifi router? or it needs net?
It can only be controlled from the internet. Even if your phone AND the switch are connected to the internet over the same router the command still comes from Internet. There are versions that work similar to the car door lock and support 4 or more devices independently which do not require ANY kind of lan connection.
Works also with Smart Life
Thank you
It is Good For roll top?
A smaller version that uses bluetooth, so I can have a remote light switch fitted inside a wall plate would be cool
It still wouldn't be all that small as you would have to supply low voltage power to the bluetooth receiver.
Does it work with 12v?
brasil posso usar ele em modo pulso
Translation can i use it in pulse mode
There's any real wireless switch that you can put on the wall like a normal one to control that module and still control via app , if that's possible and exist can anyone give me some information? Thanks in advanced
hello guys can i make my light turn on wireless with my phone and also keep the old light switch ?
Reda Bh yes you can
Does it works in mobile hotspots
I broke the push button meant for pairing while trying to set it up. Is there a way to solve the issue and get it to work?
While have everything disconnected from mains power (obviously), you could desolder and remove the pushbutton. Then, solder a new one. It should solve your problem
Sounds technical. Where can I get the push bottom from?
you can find very similar buttons on eBay... But if you don't know to do it, it might be better to purchase another SONOFF instead...
@@RuiSantosdotmeI'll try to find it and thank you
Does the sonoff app available for iPhone 6
Yes, it's called EWeLink
Santos sir
How i boost my mobile network poor calling network
can I turn on the sonoff with the cell phone gsm NOT the Wi-Fi?
Dan Avidan Sonoff has to be connected to WiFi, but your mobile could be connected to internet somehow
Your device must be connected to the internet over wifi. Your phone too has to be connected to the internet via whatever means, data or wifi and you must log into your account with the central server. Your phone can be right next to the device or half way across the globe, it will work.
NO

No. First of all you have to register on line with the server and create account + login password. Only you can control it and that too ony after logging in.
No. it is connected to your wi fi network. so if they have access to your network, they can , else NO. it is safe.
First someone to intrude must knowing the ID of the device powering your electrical central lock then sould have Android app. installed on the phone wich controls those devices as I understood from watching the video.
Does it work with amazon Alexa ?
What happen if the WiFi does not work how do you switch off the light
Rui sabes quantos aparelhos desses consigo ter em casa ? o router aguenta quantos ligados?
Nunca testei quantos é que aguenta, mas devem ser dezenas de Sonoffs
Recebi meus 4 hoje e vou começar a testar. Só não entendi se o timer precisa do APP ligado para funcionar...
Nao, basta marcar o timer e depois ele automaticamente liga e desligar
Euro plug is symmetrical, what happens if you mix it up?
It just works fine.
it's a big job to get a neutral wire to each wall switch so I can't do it. Damn, what a shame!
how much range of s onoff switch?????????????? tello plz hurry
It cant be use in my electric fan... Because how can i change the power if the fan? its just a on and off feature...
Why not? You may need a switch designed to work with an inductive load.
If the internet connection get fails...can we control the son off using wifi lan only.??
No. Even if the your internet connection is poor you would have problems.
NO. these work off commands from the cloud
E onde está o link para comprar sonoff por $5?
Está aqui: ebay.to/2eNzHf2
Future is now
can i add this device to water motor? 2HP?
Yes but no. 1HP = 745W
but i think the systeme is max 160W.
What max watt can i run? Max 100 watt light bulb?
I don't think is safe with this product to go to max current 10A like the product said. (120V*10A=1200W)
I'll try max 300W to be safe so if you have LED bulb is perfect.
Thanks for guidance!
The app must be open to timer work?
No. The Timers are stored in the Device and run auto. You only set the timers by cell phone
NO.
But if I want to control automatically + manually then it is useless
From Smartphone what is Range? How long distance can onoff ?
Your WiFi AP range . Must have internet connectivity from your mobile
Distance in feet from my Smartphone to Sonoff ? My Wifi range is 100 Feet from the Router.
Can i put that in to my AC BREAKER?
the relay could control the breaker. remember not the AC
can i use a website called if this then that with this?
I wanna know the same
absolutely
