Let me focus on just one thing that I am very excited about, as a disabled person and having difficulty getting around in the dark, I’m so excited by all of your discussion about lighting. I have solar powered lights that are easy to hang on my wheelchair and make me feel secure. We’ve reviewed our exterior and placed solar powered cameras and lighting. Now we just need to find a few more security staples for the perimeter of our home.
This was a great live chat, I missed the beginning because I didn't know it was on.... But as soon I say it I jumped in. There was such great information from everyone and I really loved the different preps needed for different area's around the US. Mouse Toes such great information and prep information for your area. This is great, even though I live in the North west (Oregon), I do travel and it is great to know how weather affects other area's in the US. This was such great fun and a learning experience.. Awesome sharing. Loved it.Thank you for doing this.
So sorry to have missed this live. This was great!! Love Mouse’s water storage system…that’s fantastic! The generator in my view should be backing up your essentials. I totally agree with y’all. We have hand cranks for oil barrels and fuel. Mouse was 100% right about the hand crank idea for gas stations. There are additives you can put in the fuel to keep it from gumming up. Put your candles in a zip lock in your freezer. Use mirrors to reflect candlelight for my light. I have oil lanterns as well. You can use toothpicks for wicks in candles in a pinch. Also, invest in a hand crank emergency radio. They’re great. Y’all are just a hoot and I had so much fun!
Good morning, Ladies Getting caught up. I have company and I’ve been busy dry-canning pasta. Growing up, I didn’t realize we were poor. I thought everyone went out and picked up the potatoes that got cut during harvest. My dad also got a lot of discounts and even free produce that was bruised and could not be sold at the market or in the store. My local farmer’s markets are small and products priced very high. The key is to make friends with the marketer’s you enjoy buying from. You might have a chance at better bartering opportunities. Be safe, Be prepared, Be Blessed
Great info ladies! Yes, I made hubby show me a folder with all the passwords etc! Plus I scented candles are better to have if anyone is prone to asthma like my cat
I like the jar style candle in glass. If it does happen to melt it at least doesn’t make a mess. I also pick up oil lamps when I find them at garage sales cheap. Great talk ladies! Also on those calls where they tell you they are sending someone to arrest you…I had a friend who would tell them to send a cute cop or have them bring food from some restaurant and ask for their phone number to call them back. It was funny to hear them get so mad at her.😂
I have hard copies of so many things…. How-to manuals/ reference books, cookbooks, canning books, recipes, etc. My 27 year old daughter says (regarding recipes especially) WHY don’t you just put them in an app? WHY do you NEEEEEDDDDD so many books?! I always say Just in case….
Hello Michelle, Mouse Toes and Leanne!! What a lot of very important things we need to think about and plan ahead.. eye opening!! Thank you ladies, wow!!
I really enjoyed this chat, I couldn't watch it live .you are so right about these phones we really need books and hard copies of things. When I find a good recipe I write it down. I save it on pi trest and write it down too.
My neighbors hate me. My yard has clover, dandelions, plantain, wild strawberries and Kentucky blue grass. My seeds blow all over their pristine grass.😊
Missed the live but enjoyed the variety of preparedness information discussed. We have been pulling the wagon in the same direction for almost 40 years.
Happy National Preparedness Month everyone. Remember to smash that like button!
You're the best!

A lot of great conversation. I think one of the things we don’t think about is keeping books or paper copies of recipes, etc.
