    I got the 2022 model. Heat is no longer an issue for the cat. When I took the heat shields off for cleaning, I was surprised to not even see the big box for the cat. It just looks like an H pipe at the header.

    I'm in the market for a scrambler-type bike and I've been spending way too much time on TH-cam and other websites looking at BMW, Ducati, Indian, and Triumph. I find many others either fancy hearing themselves speak or have too much negative to say. This is the most credible and honest review I've seen. A very fine delivery - very trusting approach. I wish I was taller, but at 5'10'', I just might gamble. Being at this level is not Triumph's fault! Thank-you, very well done.

    I got the XC in the 2022 year. The previous owner deCATed the bike, installed a slip-on, extra heat shielding, flyscreen, heated grips, hand guards, Pannier, ect. Got it with just 750 miles on it, so I have to do the first service, but it's like new for a lot less money. Even though I'm 6' 1" tall, I didn't want the XE model, it's just too high of a CG for such a heavy bike. I see guys dropping them over in sand all the time on youtube, and that's a heavy bike to pick up on soft ground. I'm not even flat footed on the XC. 8" is the most suspension travel I've ever had on a bike, so it feels great to me. I agree though on the looks, it's the kind of bike you just want to stand there and look at. I might get a tall windscreen from Unit Garage. I think they use the same 4 bolts that the flyscreen uses to attach, but with a stronger bracket, hopefully that's not a problem. I may do that tail tidy and an air filter. I'm curious how much power gain you might see with a slip-on, de-CAT, air filter, and a tune.

    Triumph has done so well with this bike that they have pulled my attention into a bike category for which I've previously had zero interest. I love this thing.

      Same here, mainly been a lover of Harleys however they have always been to expensive for me. Been saving up and would be able to get one however as soon as i saw this i was in love!.........made the mistake of going for a test ride before lockdown happened and feel head over heals for it.
      Now just got to wait to November to get a good deal on a 2020 model before the 2021's come out.

    Glad to see you working on a scrambler 1200, had my 1200XC for a few months now and agree there is not much to improve it, I would be very interested in the tail tidy, exhaust and definitely the decat because the heat is unbearable. will keep and eye out for updates.
    I also get a knock from the rear somewhere, can only narrow it down to either chain slap or the sidestand although on inspection they bot seem fine!

    I own a GS, and I love it....but to me, the GS is a fantastic long distance bike. I have a Dr650 for commuting but I find it struggles on the highway part of my work travel. I'd love to replace the DR with that. It will do all the off road stuff I want to do, and it will do the highway part just fine.
    Nice hearing your perspective.
    Cheers.

    Hi George thanks for that video,I was hoping you might be looking at making new pipes with the view of being able to go to two into one or maybe two into two ,this would allow the bike to be put back to standard.you are right about the heat it’s unbearable on a warm day in traffic it’s sort of spoiling my enjoyment of the bike on a hot day regards tony

    "It's an adventure bike that actually looks good." Yep.
    I'll add that it does very well in sand and mud and moderate rough stuff, but nothing too hairy. Just like any heavy adventure bike--you just look better doing it. When you coat the radiator with mud, the bike will tend to overheat so make sure you hose the radiator off when done riding in super wet/muddy conditions.

  • @tonylastname6468

    I'd be interested in a 2-1 exhaust, combined with the de-cat. The stock exhausts are surprisingly out of the way (5'7" rider mind you), but they look so big, and all the few optional exhausts out there are 2-2 and look almost as large! And, yes, a half decent medium sized touring windscreen!

    Where is the rear reflector George? Isn't it an mot fail not to have one? Perhaps a little extension bracket would be good so you can relocate the original one under the number plate? Not keen on the ones you stick on the plate , looks like an afterthought.

    Hi from Brazil! I have a T120 and I am thinking buying this new 1200 Scrambler mainly because of tech and suspension travel. My only concern is the exhaust. What if you make a Rebel 2-1 for this 1200 Scrambler as well? I prefer the traditional exhaust for comfort and looking. Is it feasible?

  • @Speedytrip
    @Speedytrip 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice review and I agree with most everything except the suspensions. I'm always puzzled when I hear "the suspensions are fantastic". I've owned and ridden tons of bikes. Had the suspensions set for comfort, than tried 2 suspensions shops, ended up having them resprung and revalved and though it improved a lot, it was still far from a reasonably comfortable ride. On rough roads, stock, I felt like I was being punched in the kidneys...(mind you I put 70000km on a 2015 Scrambler). It's strange how few owners seem just ok with the suspensions, either they feel like they are ridiculously harsh, or they feel like they are brilliant...to the point where I'm wondering if there's 2 different shock models in circulation. I can't imagine anyone testing the bike I had with stock suspensions, on rough roads, thinking they are brilliant. A T120 has a better ride quality with half the travel. Even Ohlins USA ackowledged that the rear shock setup wasn't great...
    I ended up selling the bike after 6000km. The Scrambler felt like a hard tail, my Africa twin feels like a freakin magic carpet. And for some reason though the 2015 Scrambler was comfortable on 500km rides, the XE was very tiring. Maybe the larger handlebars, the height...not sure quite what it was but man it wasn't as good a touring bike as any of the other naked bikes I've owned.

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The suspension is a great improvement over the street scrambler, and not bad for a mass produced motorcycle. But it is not perfect.
      Personally I think the spring rates are wrong both front and rear especially for solo riding especially lighter riders, like most companies Triumph have to have a one size fits all with spring/damping rates and always tend to err on the hard side for obvious reasons of heavy riders with passenger and luggage .They also have a limited budget they impose on the suppliers ( you would be amazed how little bike makers pay for shocks/ forks compared to retail )When I get the time over winter I will take it all apart and have a look . But at the end of the day you have bought off the peg and not a made to measure Saville row suit

    Yes I hear you with advancements in electronics. Traction control, lean sensitive, ABS, auto up idle for take off is creeping in, slipper clutches, electronic suspension modes, engine modes. These in total collective are mainly on the most powerful of each manufacturers range. And are taking away the earned riding skills of yesteryear and slowly handing this to the more and more rich in a cheating kind of way. One day top of the line sportbikes will be out of reach for a working man though they pretty much are too expensive now, especially some countries are over two times more than others. America has good prices. Motorcycles shouldn't have a luxury tax. Its saving air quality in city I guess for those thinkers and parking space for city workers and its gets tough when the weather wants a piece of us bikers. Man up and ride a man spirit. BUT !!!!! 200 ponies and taking off with launch control takes some balls but we will get use to that in practice and forget how to take off with perfect clutch slipping. I see some good people on this TH-cam, pitty I can't meet most being overseas. Thanks for your entertainment and wisdom of bikes and a bloke to listen too about bikes thanks TEC bike parts man. Triumph makes no top box for it. Ridiculous given you can only fit one saddlebag.

They did not losen even after several months. jarringly hard, poor quality casting and the black finish went matt and blotchy in the sun after 3 months. Dreadful junk.
