    Man, I'm going to have to disagree on the flagship portion of the video. Particularly the statement "there is no reason to buy the 22 Exist", I know a large part of your judgement was that it "doesn't have any less resistance than the 18", and you can only judge the examples you had in front of you, but as you mentioned the Luvias frees up with use, so does the 22 Exist🤷.
    I have all 4 reels in the sizes you use most, Vanquish in C2000S, Exist and Luvias Airity in 2000SC, and Stella in 1000. Yes, the Exist has a lot of resistance out of the box, but after 2 weeks that changes, and it now has the lowest inertia of any reel I own, yes, less than my Vanquish and Stella, and the resistance has disappeared so much it's almost as low as the Vanquish also. It also 100% has less of both metrics than the Luvias Airity...
    My Exist is also MUCH smoother than my Vanquish, Exsence, and 3 Twinpower XD's, which all share the same internals, and although definitely not as powerful as the Stella FK, it's still more powerful than a same size Vanquish, lighter than the Stella, and the same weight as the Vanquish in sizes 2500 and up, with all this in mind I'm struggling to understand why you say it's not worth buying?
    It's essential a far more premium Vanquish, I think there is definitely a market for that!
    The argument in 4000/5000 sizes is even stronger, a 5000 Stella FK has immense inertia and a 5000 Vanquish isn't even close in terms of refinement to Stella or Exist, I know this is a UL buyers guide but you did give the Stella points for being a great bass reel so I think this inclusion is fair.
    Respectfully, with the experience I have, I just have to disagree.

      i have no problem with anything in your post actually, and I am sure the resistance will be reduced significantly with time. Also you are right that I am making this call just based one this one sample I had. But you tell me what would you do, if you had only one sample, and the resistance didn't disappear in the one week you fished it, and you didn't find anything else superior to the outgoing model?? What would you do? Not give recommendation because you had only one model? Then i can't have youtube channel, as i can't buy 10 reels of every model, and definitely don't have time to fish them all. I agree with your points but I am going to repeat, that the sample I had absolutely nothing better than the old model, that i can buy for $400 with Luvias Airity

      @@ifishcatfish Hey man, I appreciate you taking the time to read my comment and reply in context to what I wrote, you'd be surprised how many times I've written something and the reply had absolutely nothing to do with what I had written 😂, I have a feeling the same happens to you often? Haha.
      Yea I can't judge you for that, you had the reels you had, and have a channel to keep supplied with content, so you made what you had work. I personally would have put emphasis on the circumstance, not being able to test for long as they had to be returned, limited experience across different models etc and speaking only for what you had and what you fish for, but I can't hold that against you entirely as you do mention "no 2 reels are the same" quite a lot, and do state you base performance heavily on UL lures and techniques also, so overall you do a great job.
      I just think some angler's/single time viewers may take your word as definite regarding the reels as a whole, which may put some off what may have been the perfect reel for what they do, I know this isn't your fault, but sometimes people are people...
      Based on your observations, the 22 Exist is not worth the extra over the Luvias Airity for UL fishing, I get that 100%. However in my experience I do think overall the Exist has its merits, and the liquid metal look, although slightly plain to others is quite beautiful, no other reel looks like it's made of mercury, I know it's not for everyone but it's something different also.
      In conclusion, you definitely make high quality videos, I just don't know about flat out saying the 22 Exist is pointless, I do believe it has it's place, especially in comparison to the Stella FK and Vanquish. I agree it is somewhat blurry when the Luvi Airity is included, but to me this doesn't mean the Vanquish and Stella are from heaven or something, which I think sometimes is how it comes across.

      Hi there, sorry for my check in without invitation but I guess you woudn't mind 🙂 For the most part I agree with Victor but you are right for some things... I can't understand why would brand new exist reduce resistance after longer period of usage, like a week isn't enough. It is flag ship reed, should be perfect from the first day. And yes, Victor said there are no two reels that are the same, but for a flagship from daiwa or shimano, I do expect that all the copies of exist work the same way.
      Do not worry for those who watch this video and make a choise what to buy, it is not possible that this video will affect someone's mind that much to convince him not to buy exist, it is a matter of presige I guess 🙂
      Anyway, great elaboration of your arguments, it was useful to know some practical facts from the your personal experience. Have a nice day. 🍻

      @@bozhidarvorukov7348 Not true at all, Vanford gears are almost exactly the same as Vanquish and Twinpower gears, I actually think Vanford gears stay smooth for longer due to the hard coating, Vanquish/Twinpower gears turn rough quickly when used in more stressful situation. How do I know? I have 7 twinpowers, of various series and sizes, including all 3 current reels, lol.
      And Daiwa's anti reverse clutch does not cause all the resistance. I used to think it was just the magnets above the clutch (as they have gotten stronger since 2014 to better keep the oil in place), but as I_fish has also pointed out over time the reels do indeed lose a lot of the resistance and become quite free, so now I think it may a combination of the grease and how tight these Daiwa's are assembled instead, I don't think it is solely the anti reverse clutch at all🤷.

    Great Video Vic! I'm so glad I picked up the Vanquish in the C2000S, C2000SHG, C2500SHG and 2500S this year from Dig. when they were $324 Shipped. I do have to agree that the 22 Stella C2000SHG I purchased is almost exactly 1 Oz. heavier than the 2000 Vanquish and over a 1/2 oz. heavier than the Vanford 2000. The Stella is without a doubt smoother and more refined but when UL fishing for Trout I still find myself reaching for the Vanquish.

    I bought a 1000 & 3000 size Miravel and am really enjoying how light they are. I was looking at the ultegra, but I opted for the lighter reel. I have them paired up to a Dobyns Sierra Trout and Panfish Rod and a Shimano Zodias rod. I fish from the bank here in the desert. Hiking for long stretches in the triple digit heat, so having very light combos for fishing all day is important to me. I'm in my 40s now and my wrists were hurting with my budget combos. I just got back from a Gila Trout fishing trip in the low desert mountains. My son and me fished hard for two days and my wrists are fine.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The two reels weigh the same, unless u want to tell me you can tell a 2 gram difference. You have been watching the wrong channels. Ultegra is better than Miravel, and Zodias and Dobyns are not real Ultralight rods. Those are bass rods with ultralight tips. Sorry, that doesn't make it an ultralight rod. Most reviews on youtube are sh#t, done by people who know nothing about gear or ultralight fishing.

    • @thesonorandesertangler
      @thesonorandesertangler ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ifishcatfish You're probably right about the weight difference. I don't own an Ultegra, so I wouldn't know if it's a noticeable difference in quality when actually using them on the water. Just to clarify the Zodias is my 6'9" ML bass fishing drop shot, wacky worm, and neko rig rod that I have paired up with the 3000 Miravel. It is definitely for bass fishing. I've been killing it with this combo too. I fish for anything that is in the lake. I'll target carp if that's all I'm seeing, so I have a variety of rods and reels. There is no Zodias UL as far as I know. The Dobyns Sierra Trout and Panfish Rod is a true Fast Action UL, which I prefer for using small 1/32-3/32 jig heads. I have an older Okuma SST UL which is more of a traditional UL rod, but I don't like using that one for jigs. It's better suited for float fishing or treble hook baits since it has a true parabolic bend. For example, if I'm throwing a 1 inch Rapala jerkbait I'm going to use the Okuma SST. It'll keep them pinned for sure. Maybe, it's just the way I fish, but I have a better hook up ratio on jigs with the stiffer Dobyns than what would be considered a true UL rod like the Okuma SST. I just prefer the Dobyns for micro drop shots, or any bottom contact applications, which is the primary techniques I'm using. Either way I think my next UL rod is going to be a St Croix Avid series and I may pick up an Ultegra for it 😂

      were u the one who asked me about this? several people asked me about this. Heavy grease helps alot with consistency of carbon, but lets be clear, it aint never gona feel as good as felt. There is a reason the Vanquish and Presso LTD come with felt!

      @DV-ol7vt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ifishcatfish I agree, the grease definitely smooths out the carbon drag but it doesn’t beat the smoothness of felt. Carbon drag has its place and in my opinion it should not be on finesse reels. Carbon drag is designed to create lots of friction so you can put the brakes on big fish. It doesn’t require much friction to wear down smaller fish.

    The Stella 1000 balances perfectly on a G.Loomis GLX 721S SJR it has become my favorite setup. It’s not an ultralight but it’s a light rod and it works great for smallmouth. Honestly I would say it’s the perfect creek fishing setup because the backbone is essentially a medium while the tip is light and it really lets you throw a lot of the ultralight lures well while having the backbone to handle about anything you’ll encounter there.
    It’s closer to a ML than an UL but it seems to be perfect for my intended use.

    Great video, I just have one question. Would you say the Daiwa Caldia is competition to the vanford family? My rod (a very light Silverna Lago) goes perfectly with the Caldia, because it has gold accents. Colors matter to me, but the soare is a bit too expensive. The caldia in my country is almost half the price of the soare. I saw your video on the Caldia and you were not very happy with it, which turns me off of it. Should I risk it with the Caldia, buy a vanford that doesnt go well visually or just buy a safe Exceler?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it is not. I think the frame was graphite instead of carbon and it is heavier. Also it doesn't have the Luvias gears. It's a beautiful reel, and that's why I bought it, and then sold it. If your reel is quiet though (mine was loud) and the weight balances good with your rod, just enjoy your combo, as it is still a good reel. I only own 3 reels in the 1000 size. The Stella fj, the Stradic fl and the Tatula LT. I personally like the Tatula LT. It's lighter than the other 2 and has the back reeling feature. I still prefer the Stradic and the Stella but the LT is a nice UL reel for sure.

      kage is not an actual reel. Its a ballistic with some stupid bearing under the spool. With or without the MQ. For ultralight fishing, i only recommend the reels in my video. Luvias is cheaper than this nonsense reel and is better in every single aspect

      I didnt say anything about pflueger and quantum either. I didnt say anything about most reels. Alsready the video is longer than most people watch. I have to disagree with Victor on this one. I love my Stradic 1000FL for Ultralight fishing along with my 19' Stella fJ and my Tatula LT 1000 comes in a far 3d place. The Stradic balances with all my Ultralight rods. None of which are JDM though so Victor has a point there. And I use my Stradic on a lot of Light powered rods also. I use it for both Trout and Bass. I liked it so much I purchased a couple extra spools for it.

    Hi, I have 2 ultra light reels that I bought for myself. I could not find any comprehensive reviews of them other than a drag torture test.
    So I bought them based on people saying they like them....
    Piscicuf carbon x 500
    And the piscifun carbon II 1000
    Bassesd on your reviews I've purchased a Shimano vanford c2000s
    And a diawa Fuego LT1000
    It's really hard to justify the price difference from the Fuego to vanford.
    But the vanford does feel slightly nicer than the Fuego. I think if i fished one today and the other tomorrow it would be difficult to tell the difference.
    You are an aficionado ( preferable spelling would be aFiSHionado, while preferably pronounced a-fish-on-ned-ohhh 🎣🎣🎣👏👏) of ultra light fishing.

      maybe later... I have been sick and have ear infection and will need some time to catch up with my own stuff..
      Vanford is 60 grams lighter, has higher quality gears, has a bearing in the line roller, and has far superior line lay. Sometimes its hard to feel, but if you have expensive rods, the Fuego is not gona fit..
