The weed zapper in the organic soybean field is truly impressive! Modern technology like this makes agriculture more efficient and sustainable. This video is very interesting and informative, thank you for sharing!
I remember reading about this in a farm magazine 40 years ago. It is real good that this technology is now in use. I don't think we can abandon chemical weed control entirely. In any case reducing the rate per acre of herbicides is certainly desirable. This would reduce an input cost for the farmer and there be less worry about chemical run offs in nearby creeks and vegetation. A beautiful farming area and I like Versatile tractors with a red colored hood. Thanks for showing.
Another awesome video brother, another unique one that you’re definitely see nowhere else. Thanks for your hard work on bringing us stuff. We don’t see every day.
This is fascinating! I never knew about weed zappers before-such an innovative way to handle weeds in organic farming without chemicals. Thanks for sharing the specs and showing it in action!
I run this exact zappers up here in south central Wisconsin. We have 2 of them n it's the best tool we have to run over our organic acres. We also run a tine weeder as well.
I was sitting here wondering what would happen if you walked near the tractor in the field and then you answered that ! LOL Reminds me of when I was a kid and I slipped and fell down over a electric cattle fence on our dairy farm and I ended up with my legs dangling over the hot wire, I got the message real quickly and I was bouncing around and I rolled off of that, I can only imagine what this would feel like. My dad laughed at me and said I got the "bole weevil wobble" ! I saw smoke coming off of some plants in this video, thanks Mike !
Yes I think touching this would be way worse than an electric fence. We used to grab electric fences when I was a kid to see who could hang on the longest.
After a few years of planting green into a rye heavy cover, and terminating later, with 20’ rows, I no longer make any passes for weeds. The kids do some custom zapping for conventional operators with resistant weed issues. Those 30” rows are the ultimate for disease control. I just can’t control the weeds well enough. Too much disease with 7.5-15”.
Sure looks like it would be a tedious job! I’m sure they run auto steer for guidance but it looked like the operator was raising and lowering the boom as they were going through the field. I’ve got a calculated that they can only do about 9 to 10 acres an hour may be running only 2 1/2 3 mile an hour.

A weed zapper is a great machine for organic farms👍😄 thanks for the video😁👍

I read about a tractor mounted weed zapper in Farm Show magazine a few years ago. That’s a pretty neat implement.
Mike, once again, you shared a video of a farming video of something I have never seen before. It's no wonder why I like Mike. Happy subscriber 😊!

Nice video mike less I saw a farmer near me got a weed zapper but then had to buy a case magnum 380 to run the weed zapper
This is absolutely amazing technology! Literally, there are no chemicals for weed control!!!!

This was so entertaining! You’re one of the best on TH-cam.

Slow process but must be highly effective. At leastvthey have 2 running.
I’m shocked at how well that works, shocked I say!
And I was shocked while filming this
Gotta few guys here in my area that run weed zappers.
👍👍👍👍
Is this the only pass they make or do they come through again?
I believe they do this more than once
⚡️⚡️
That looks like a weapon of mass weed destruction right there 😂😂😂
Should have had a night clip so we could actually see what it was doing?
If only they ran it at night. Maybe next year.
How does it know not to zap the soybeans?
They keep the rod above the soybeans and it zaps any weed that is taller than the actual row of soybeans.
