Fuki (vocal) is singing in a perspective of two personalities. Notice how she changes her vocal color. A princess is locked in a tower where many knights came to rescue her and they all died in blood. And she is slowly going crazy. JILL (violin) is a graduate of the most prestigious music university in Japan. She is a real deal. The band started out as a cover band for the music of Touhou project which is a niche video game. So Fuki dresses in cosplay dresses a lot. UM is a super band. Everyone is a master musician.
Trivia: Shiren, the guy with a neck tatoo playing headless guitar is also a main coposer for this band. Since he has arm muscles sickness he can't play guitar live that much (that's main reason he's using headless guitar that is way lighter) and composing their newer songs he gives himself more space for vocal, and his vocal is screamo you already heard in Black Pentagram. But there's also a nice side effect of that - as he can't play his guitar sections live, Jill, the violinist plays his parts making live performances kinda unique. I think you should listen to their song Angreifer performed live, that's a good example of what i'm talking about.
This song is from one of their Touhou concerts, a video game series in Japan and popular there, they are all dressed as characters from the game, even the guy in the hoodie. The costumes would have been picked by Fuki, as she is also does fashion design and has a degree in it. Fuki's singing style is very much like Japanese Kabuki, where they sing 2 notes at the same time. Here is a band that has a modern take on the traditional Kabuki style Wagakki Band - 焔 (Homura) + 暁ノ糸 (Akatsuki no Ito) / 1st JAPAN Tour 2015 Hibiya Yagai Ongakudo th-cam.com/video/ponTbDDMYjw/w-d-xo.html
"Polyushka Polye" a version sung by ORIGA from Poland who became famous in Japan because she sang the OST theme of the "Ghost in the Shell" anime. The band members are video game and anime nerds.
@@fastskipper777 Why Poland? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origa . And guys, "Polyushko-pole' is not a folk song, originally it's Red Army marсh written in 1933. Not sure that matters though :)
Reposting this comment since you may not have seen it on your previous reaction to them. It also addresses the contrast in appearance among some of the bandmembers: Congrats on finding Unlucky Morpheus-one of the best, most creative bands in the world today. My top suggestion for a live clip: “Angreifer” th-cam.com/video/gGKWgM4IOgc/w-d-xo.html -- it features the violin much more forward. Amid all the (justified) excitement over the Japanese all-female metal bands, we forget there are guys who throw down. Shiren, founder and one of the guitarists, also does the growls. Fumiya (Drums) is, as you saw, insane and inexhaustible-one of the best rock drummers in the world. Jinya (G) and Ogawa (B) are top-tier as well. Fumiya and Ogawa also have interesting, “beast” personae which contrast with the “beauty” of Fuki and Jill-it's a deliberate trope, similar to what you see with some European symphonic metal bands. Fuki (lead singer) is a legend in Japan, and one of the busiest artists anywhere. She is lead singer for UM, Doll$boxx, Lightbringer and her own ongoing project, Fuki Commune. Her style is very much out of the Japanese classical tradition, with the oversold vibrato and intense high notes. She collaborates with a lot of the top musical talents in Japan. Jill (violin) also has a busy dance card, including collaborations with Fuki outside UM. I consider her the best rock/jazz/metal violinist in the world today, and probably the best since Jean-Luc Ponty. Jill is actually my favorite member of Unlucky Morpheus. She may be the greatest rock/jazz violinist since Jean-Luc Ponty. Here are links to instrumentals featuring her in UM’s instrumental project Quadratum: Cover of van Halen "Eruption" th-cam.com/video/eTb0TQtVT6k/w-d-xo.html Cover of Malmsteen "Far Beyond the Sun" th-cam.com/video/E2hZDzJp9Pc/w-d-xo.html Cover of Dream Theater, played blindfolded: th-cam.com/video/8eZVVtaOBKk/w-d-xo.html I saw UM live in London in 2019, when they headlined Metal Matsuri. Great show, and the chemistry between Fuki and Jill was electric.
Jill is not a nice accessory (but you will have just noticed clearly) she is now even in the center and is completely on a par with the guitars. the band won't let you go Great Reaction

In many cases, the costumes of the members are decided by vocalist Fuki or created by Fuki.
