I'm going to go with heritage. I really like the overlander and the urban drifter. I'd love to get one of them at some point. But I'm torn on the height. Thinking hiking and backpacking for use in addition to, well, everything.
Heritage! I think the heritage strikes the perfect balance in all regards to make a good boot for someone that needs a little bit of everything, while never being out of place.
I have enjoyed both. I would like to mention this regarding the sole options you have though. I have had slipping issues in wet surfaces with the standard lug soles where there is not so much with the wedge sole. Had I known the issue before I would have started with the wedge sole
I have all work boots from wesco, whites, and now a pair of nicks. I work for the railroad doing track maintenance in western Washington and deal with abrasive ballest, mud, snow, and other wet slippery conditions. Forever I've been using the 100 lung soles but the last few years I have a pair of 700s and now my new pair of nicks use the 430 sole. For the most part I don't notice a big loss of traction other than in snow and really like how when I get home I'm not tracking so much mud in the house. I like having different pairs for different conditions but having options is great to find the perfect combination for your use.
They're really nice boots! If you do ever buy a pair of these boots, make sure you know what kind of arch you have since the standard arch can be rather high.
I believe even your "casual" leathers are still quite thick. 6-7 oz leather is 2.4-2.8 mm. That is as thick as the leather in my Zamberlan hiking boots, if I'm not mistaken.
That is correct! We make work boots that can be worn to go out, and not the other way around)) Our work leathers come in 7-8oz, and our Heritage leathers come in 6-7oz
1st pair of custom boots on order with Indo maker Txture. Wanted to limp in with 2 toes, but if they are what I expect, Nick's will be my next pair. Have done plenty of research and can get quality handmade boots from many Indo companies at half the price. The best boots available are Nicks, but went Indo to see if I'm a boot guy .... If I love the Indos, Nick's on order soon after!!!

You say heritage line overlaps into the work boot line, most places I have worked requires us to have a safety toe. So can you put a safety toe in any boot?🤔
I bought a pair of in size 10 with a comp toe. Love the boots, but hate having a toe with any thing to comply with that rule. Very comfortable, but I hate the look. I feel like I'm wearing a pair of moon boots....
If you love boots enough, even a BuilderPro can be your Sunday boot, although most of our Heritage collection is tailored to be more on an everyday shoe, with a wider selection of leathers, and non-lug soles

I like nicks boots. I found after having good quality boots is buying boots trees to keep my boots in shape and draw out moisture. Just do not water for growth; ha ha…
What brand of trees are you using and where have you bought your favorite trees? It's all over the board when it comes to boot trees. I want a set, but no clue which ones to get and where is the best place to buy them. Assuming using cedar trees, which is my favorite.

Me too but I'm thinking of trying an 8 inch due to it being only option for quick ship I can't be waiting 6 months for a custom. I hope it doesn't restrict movement too much on ladders
We spend quite a bit of time developing different uppers and strap placements for our Tanker boot to fit you securely and comfortably and it would not make sense to go through all that R&D to create another upper and placement for a shorter boot which would not sell many models.
@Nicks Handmade Boots I literally just want straps stitched onto my builders pro. I love the look of straps but need the security of laces while I'm chasing cattle. Honestly I don't think it would need any R&D to just stitch the straps on in the same spot as the tanker. It's not as much for functionality as for the look and for lazy days when all I have to do is drop a few bales into stalls. Thanks for the response. I did buy a pair of builder pros I'm just disappointed that I can't get the look I want. That wouldn't be unreasonable for a custom boot when everything else about it is basically stock, right?

I don't mean to be rude, but do you know the first thing about online shopping? You can't blame Nicks for your own incompetence at simply looking at pictures. When you view made to order boots on their website, there are pictures explaining EVERYTHING. What different lasts look libe, different soles, etc. Granted the site could be better, but you haven't done a second of research. Leather is leather, they're all good. Soles with big lugs grip better on dirt. There are pictures of what different lasts look like.
