    14:48 did I just hear "why I LOVE Ross more than you" the smacking isn't the problem in this household the problem is that the parents are telling their kids how much they love them based on how well behaved they are 😱

      "The" problem. It doesn't have to be restricted to just one problem. What you point out is an issue, but so is smacking. They are two fundamental issues.

      I don't think that's what was going on here. I think Kelly was accusing him of loving Ross more (off camera) and he was responding to her by asking her why she thinks that. I think Kelly's part of the convo got cut off so it made it seem like he was TELLING her that, rather than responding to her accusation with an inquiring question. Like this:
      Kelly: You love Ross more than me!
      Dad: Why do I "love Ross more than you?" (as in: Why do you think I love Ross more than you? Why do you say that? What is your reasoning?)
      Kelly: Because you gave him gold stars. (as in: You love him more because you gave him gold stars, but didn't give me any.)
      Dad: Because he was being a good boy. (as in: The reason I gave him gold stars is because he was being a good boy. I didn't give you gold stars because you were not being a good girl.)

    Ugh. She told the kids no on taking his dads money and they did it and ran when she wasn't looking, and she REWARDED them by letting them all get snacks off the truck; she's an enabler!? She would have NO order if she had those kids all the time, not like there was much in the first place.

      I'd have let them have the snacks anyway... which they did. You're only a child once, for 18 years. Enjoy it. I was a bit of a rebel, especially when the School nurses had the nerve, to put me on a diet of mixed salads for every meal, so that wouldn't fill me up to the point where I went back to the boarding house and raided the kitchen there.

    I got spanked growing up with a belt or wooden spoon and it didn't make ME afraid of my parents though it did make me respect my father and mother and I was WELL behaved! Even though it was my dad who did the punishment I was STILL and will ALWAYS be a daddy's girl! But like the Christian family I KNEW when I did wrong PERIOD and I EXPECTED to deal with the consequences! Plus it was NEVER out of anger! This has gone on to regular life where I DON'T break laws bc I KNOW there are consequences and I don't expect to NOT get caught and I know there is a cause and effect to my behaviors and choices!!! I sure as HELL turned out BETTER then my cousins who NEVER got punished until the LAW punished them! What's worse going to jail OR getting a spanking as a child?

    • @rannar3095
      @rannar3095 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jasmine Jeanine I understand you... i used to get chased with a belt too 😅 but that made me very respectful and understand what’s wrong and whats right. I really don’t believe that a little harsh discipline is some kind of child abuse. Child abuse is a whole other story 🙂

    • @nyx6937
      @nyx6937 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can discipline kids without spanking them.
      Million of kids never get spanked, it doesn't mean they never get punished, or that they'll end up in jail.
      Spanking a child teaches that child that it's ok to hit other kids, animals, and later in life other adults: unacceptable!
      The kids on this vid are a prime example: chaotic household, they get spanked, but there' no real structure or consistent discipline. Sad.

      You’re reducing the options to 2: zero discipline or hitting children. There are many non violent ways to discipline!
      Also your story about your cousins is anecdotal evidence. Plenty of people who were hit as children go to jail as well.

    • @clairmichelle
      @clairmichelle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@nyx6937 Correct. The people who don't see it as a problem were conditioned to think it is okay, parents who use corporal punishment can and do get reported to CPS child services and then they can face the punishment of using violence to discipline their kids.

      You're in denial if you think they're well behaved. The parents need to change their ways because smacking is a form of violence, and it's teaching the kids that violence is acceptable. It's disgusting and should be 100% outlawed.

      Because they’re well-behaved out of fear, not out of respect. They fear their parents, and that’s not a good thing. There’s no such thing as healthy fear; all fear is bad.
