Don't forget Sadziedāšanās - The singing after the singing. Or the the bad singing after the good singing. Have sung in choirs all my life in Australia - Im now in a mixed and male choir. Next year will be my third Dziesmu Svētki. I not only cry to SPD but also Gaismas Pils and probably to a few others because I am just so overwhelmed to be able to participate in the greatest choir concert in the world. The big hit next year will be Augšup Dzīvībā skan. What a cracker of a song! And we have two concerts at the Estrāde - Tīrums and Augšup. Cant wait.

You're the second person I get to know who likes "Augšup dzīvība skan"! 😂 I like it too... kinda, but some people doesn't like it, as I understand for how difficult and crazy this song is. 😅

I've found out I'll need to learn Gaismas Pils by heart to sing it next year (if my choir makes it to the festival) 😱😱 As a non-Latvian who joined a choir because I started studying the language during Covid, it'll be a challenge 💪 I guess it'll be my "murgs", but I must say I get fuzzy when I listen to it on TH-cam (2018 festival), it really is a great song

I've sang in choirs in childhood and youth but i haven't found one in recent years that would suit my musical interests and timetable! I would love to join the choir festivities one day. But before that i should acquire a Finnish national costume to show my own colours!😊😁

Oho. Vidusskolas laikā gan nevarēju lepoties ar labu kora apmeklētību. Man tolaik līkās, ka tas ir kaut kāds cilvektiesību pārkāpums - likt nākt dziedat 8:00, pie tam ziemā!
Eh..

@@irregularLatvian Ha, tikko atcerējos, ka manas mammas vecāki tak satikās dēļ dziedāšanas! Vectēvs bija vienā korī, vecmamma citā, bet satikās kopīgā pasākumā kādu nebija mazums. Vectēvs līdz pamatīgam vecumam dziedāja korī "Tēvzeme", kora klubs bija arī viens no štābiem 1991. gada barikādēs, kur ieiet iekšā sasildīties un paēst.
