I have this spreader. It works well on flat ground. If you have hills it is at risk of tipping over when full, never tips over when almost empty. I won’t use it anymore for my wildlife food plots, but it works fine for my yard at home.
I had to come back to your video as I'm currently putting mine together. I remembered you said to watch our for which holes the tub goes into and the directions ARE NOT CLEAR AT ALL about that. Thanks again!
Thanks for the info. We have the same spreader on order right now, so I appreciate your tips on the assembly and on the hitch height adjustment. I'm going to need to come up with a way to raise the arm on ours, too. I was already going to customize the arm since our machine has a ball hitch, but now I see I will need to add a riser to it as well. Thanks a ton!
I just remembered that i believe i saw they make one for lawn tractors and another model for ATVs. Thry have different town bar heights and it seems mine is for atvs and not a lawn tractor. So hopefully you ordered the correct one.
Thanks for the review. I have bought this model and am about to spread grass seed on 1,5 acre of pasture (there´s grass etc... but I want to improve it as I have not done anything for 7 years exept for mowing it and the hoses have been grazing. The next door farmer helpt fertilize it a few weeks ago and I have done some light harrowing to help with the moss). My question is if you could tell how far the seeds spread, ie how far from the last track do I drive my riding mower (have a Husqvarna, 17,5 Hp engine). I guess it´s propably hard to say but I don´t want to waste all the seeds while trying to figure this out, not if I don´t have to anyway. 🙂 (I´m in Sweden by the way so cold season grasses)
Nice video, I just purchased it this yesterday morning and got it assembled in the afternoon. I will use it for the first time tomorrow, I got a 40 lbs of grass seed which I think will be enough. But I will need to get a big bag of fertilizer. I have a little bigger JD mower than what you have on the video but I think I still might have to do…like what you did. That’s a nice rig you have on your mower. I might have to do that. Did you make that?
No i bought it. Probably from amazon. Google hitch and your model and maybe pne will come up. This one had a couple mounting positions for the side arms and i just took it off to move it to another tractor and it works real well for lots of stuff.
I bought mine a few years ago. I didn't have too much trouble assembling the spreader. I think the spreader is solid and have no problems with the quality. But what I do not like at all is that I need someone with me because the fertilizer or anything i want to spread has to be brushed because the contents gets hung up along the sides and as it get towards the end of what it is I am spreading someone needs to keep brushing it to the center. If I don't have someone helping me. I need to keep stopping every 20 to 50 feet and get off my tractor. This problem is very disappointing...... as far as leveling the spreader, I use a longer hitch pin and sue some small blocks with a clearance hole for the hitch pin. It works well for me. As I said the spreader spreads well until the approximate last 1/3 of whatever it is I am spreading. Then I need to keep stopping to brush the contents off the sides and to the center
Would not recommend. Mine was missing parts and the wheel axil was incorrect. Waited over a week for the new one and it didn’t work either, wheels would fit, found out it was missing more pieces too. Their company is garbage

That perennial ryegrass from tractor supply is my go-to as well! Proven cold-climate winner, for sure.
I'm considering getting another big bag again this year.

Id say about 10 to 12 feet total spread
Very nice review and instructions. Greatly appreciated!
Thank you. Glad i could help.
Thanks for sharing your video, very informative!
Thank you. I'm glad you liked it
Thanks for the thorough review!

I just bought one , I think your right on the hitch height ..
I recently found out i may have an ATV version. Maybe that's why the hitch height is weird

That's interesting. I havent experienced that problem
The wheel that drives the gear shaft keeps binding on mine even after a gear replacement.
That sucks.
What happens when you the mower stops
Some fertilizer would fall down into one spot if you don't close the door underneath.
Had an agrifab spreader. It broke after one season of use.
Thats too bad. I heard their customer service is good. Perhaps they would send replacement parts
Grass seed a pencil point or a six inch nail point old school

Unfortunately since Covid quality control EVERY WHERE is down.
This is a cheaply made piece of crab. Mine lasted one season. Buy yourself a different brand and save the headache
Im still using mine on an acre of grass.
