Most definitely testament!! Pick any song from the albums Low or The Ritual.. if you want to get crazy do Live at the Filmore!!! All those albums are masterpieces
True, they are by no means prog or tech thrash, but rather straight energy, which has always been a core element of Overkill. Bittner imho added a whole 'nother level of heaviness. New album shreds hard. BLitz the vocalist has held his own, is a great frontman, super high energy live.

They started about the same time frame as the big 4 but their first studio album was not released until 1985, a year or two after the big 4s first albums. They are widely considered the "next 4" of thrash metal - Overkill, Testament, Exodus, Death Angel. Their lead singer Bobby Blitz is one of the good dudes in metal...always popular with the fans.
I do not know why but when I heard you were doing Overkill 2 things came to mind. Their song "Hello from the Gutter." And the band Accept. On Accept try "Fast as a Shark" and "Balls to the Wall"

If you're like me and enjoy Bobby's vocals on this track you gotta check out Metal Allegiance- Mother of Sin..... Such a killer song with Bobby Blitz on vocals. Also since it's a supergroup comprised of many great musicians and vocalists. Bobby's vocals shine bright in this song. Now Don't get me wrong.... I love OVERKILL, and more so since they're from my home state of NJ, but if I had to pick a great Overkill song for you to review I'd have to pick "I Hear Black" from the album of the same title. But totally killer review bro. Mad props!

This was a really good song. I heard an overkill album back in the day and for some reason I just never got into it and wasn't feeling it. I was more into the more popular metal bands back then. But I'm going to definitely check these guys out now and some of their older work.

Please do Rishloo! Upon first listen, I automatically found them to be in my top 10 bands of all time. They are severely underrated, but will surely blow your mind. 'Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun' and 'Dark Charade' are definitely worth a listen.
Overkill should be in the big 4. I saw them for the first time 3 weeks ago, they're amazing..headbanging for 2 hours, crazy moshpit..so much energy. You can also react to some of their masterpiece like Rotten To The Core or Elimination.
This album (Ironbound) actually got me into Overkill. Phenomenal comeback to the head of the thrash pack. Check out the rather humorous “Welcome to the Garden State” which they recently released. Great song, a lot of fun, and plenty of not-so-subtle nods to other NJ musicians.
Very cool. I've been hoping you'd react to Overkill for a while. Awesome band, been following them since the mid 80's (druck me funk, saying I've been following a band for over 30 years makes me feel old). They finally toured Australia in 2010, and again in 2018, and as great as their albums are I'd have to say theyre even better live. They turn everything up to 11 live :-) Sooo freaking good. I've seen all of the big 4 live and even though I enjoyed them they didn't come close to Overkill. By far and away the best live act I've seen.
This song is off their 2010 album "Iron Bound" That is a good album, but they have been around since 1984-85. You should have started with their older stuff form "Feel the fire" or "Taking Over"
They have been here last week. The concert was incredibly amazing. Alex, did you note that they are over 50? Closer to 60. The essence of Overkill is the structure of songs. Good to enjoy and good to play them. This is a very cool Overkill song but the mid-tempo songs are the bests from them. Metal! :)

Alex. Long time fan here, 36 year metal head. This is new Overkill. Quite awesome (as is all Overkill). But if you want to hear some good old Overkill ---> Horrorscope (1991) is one of the greatest metal albums of all time.
I believe the drummer on this is Jason Bittner. He used to be in Shadows Fall. Hes a monster on the drums. A modern day Lombardo if you will. Same class as Chris Adler from Lamb of God.

And Alison hell is a good start to get into Annihilator so for me it's the best recommendation i can do to someone who don't know Annihilator. Dave linsk, one of the most underrated guitarist out there! D.D. Verni is an absolute beast on bass, and Bobby "blitz" Ellsworth, well, he's just on a whole nother level as far as singers go!!!!! If you want a killer drum onslaught from Overkill, check out the song Armorist!!
Overkill are fucking amazing I borrowed one of their cds from a local library in the early 00's maybe 01 or 02 when I was about 10 and fell in love with them straight away
For your next potential Overkill tune, I highly recommend "Skull and Bones" (which features Randy Blythe from Lamb of God as a guest vocalist). It's got a good groove and it's quite aggressive. The whole song works. It's from Immortalis (which came out a few years before this one did). If you're gonna do some older Overkill, I think you should hold off and work backwards.
they opened up for slayer on the Reign in blood tour in 86, they were spit on the whole time, bobby was completely soaked (bad timing for them). I felt bad for them, after the show bobby came out front from the venue and I got to meet him he's a really great guy. overkill is still bad ass to this day

My favorite band growing up. While friends listened to the big 4 and speed metal I was all thrash and punk. Overkill, exodus, sacred Reich, exploited.
Should listen to Elimination and Electric Rattlesnake, Overkill is dope, seen them 3 times, always a blast.

Please do Rishloo! Upon first listen, I automatically found them to be in my top 10 bands of all time. They are severely underrated, but will surely blow your mind. 'Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun' and 'Dark Charade' are definitely worth a listen.
The band chose the name Overkill from the Motorhead song. I saw them live and met them tonight. The lead singer Bobby Blitz is 64 years old now.
Overkill should be in the big 4. I saw them for the first time 3 weeks ago, they're amazing..headbanging for 2 hours, crazy moshpit..so much energy.
You can also react to some of their masterpiece like Rotten To The Core or Elimination.
I used to have an Overkill - Horrorscope Cassette... Me and my brother would listen to it in the car for years! Bobby Blitz and DD Verni are awesome!
I met them way back in 1986 or 87, a small theater in Indianapolis. They opened for Slayer

This album (Ironbound) actually got me into Overkill. Phenomenal comeback to the head of the thrash pack.
Check out the rather humorous “Welcome to the Garden State” which they recently released. Great song, a lot of fun, and plenty of not-so-subtle nods to other NJ musicians.
Very cool. I've been hoping you'd react to Overkill for a while. Awesome band, been following them since the mid 80's (druck me funk, saying I've been following a band for over 30 years makes me feel old).
They finally toured Australia in 2010, and again in 2018, and as great as their albums are I'd have to say theyre even better live. They turn everything up to 11 live :-) Sooo freaking good. I've seen all of the big 4 live and even though I enjoyed them they didn't come close to Overkill. By far and away the best live act I've seen.

This song is off their 2010 album "Iron Bound" That is a good album, but they have been around since 1984-85. You should have started with their older stuff form "Feel the fire" or "Taking Over"
They have been here last week. The concert was incredibly amazing. Alex, did you note that they are over 50? Closer to 60. The essence of Overkill is the structure of songs. Good to enjoy and good to play them. This is a very cool Overkill song but the mid-tempo songs are the bests from them. Metal! :)
OVERKILL rules!!! Need to check out Elimination, Head First, and a song off one of their newer albums Ironbound. All songs are brutal thrash monsters!!!! Keep it up dude!!!!
Alex. Long time fan here, 36 year metal head. This is new Overkill. Quite awesome (as is all Overkill). But if you want to hear some good old Overkill ---> Horrorscope (1991) is one of the greatest metal albums of all time.
I believe the drummer on this is Jason Bittner. He used to be in Shadows Fall. Hes a monster on the drums. A modern day Lombardo if you will. Same class as Chris Adler from Lamb of God.
OverKill's been one of my favs since "Taking Over"... now they're 20 studio albums in, and there's no sign of slowing down!

Might be upopular opinion but IMO vocals on Alison Hell kinda suck. I'd recommend the next album called Never Neverland.

And Alison hell is a good start to get into Annihilator so for me it's the best recommendation i can do to someone who don't know Annihilator. This song really show how the band sound and overall it's a pretty good song ☺️ but I understand if you don't like the vocal that you are not agree with the suggestion xD by the way never neverland is really awsome too !(sorry for my english i'm french Canadian, i'm not very good in english 😅)

Dave linsk, one of the most underrated guitarist out there! D.D. Verni is an absolute beast on bass, and Bobby "blitz" Ellsworth, well, he's just on a whole nother level as far as singers go!!!!! If you want a killer drum onslaught from Overkill, check out the song Armorist!!
Highly recommend seeing them live. I have seen hundreds of different metal bands live and they stand out.
Overkill are fucking amazing I borrowed one of their cds from a local library in the early 00's maybe 01 or 02 when I was about 10 and fell in love with them straight away
For your next potential Overkill tune, I highly recommend "Skull and Bones" (which features Randy Blythe from Lamb of God as a guest vocalist). It's got a good groove and it's quite aggressive. The whole song works. It's from Immortalis (which came out a few years before this one did). If you're gonna do some older Overkill, I think you should hold off and work backwards.
they opened up for slayer on the Reign in blood tour in 86, they were spit on the whole time, bobby was completely soaked (bad timing for them). I felt bad for them, after the show bobby came out front from the venue and I got to meet him he's a really great guy. overkill is still bad ass to this day
