A Quiet Place Part II is a 2020 American horror film and the sequel to the 2018 film A Quiet Place, both of which follow a family that is forced to navigate and survive in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by blind monsters with an acute sense of hearing. The sequel was written and directed by John Krasinski under the studio Paramount Pictures. Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe reprise their roles from the first film, and Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou joined the cast. Krasinski also returns from the first film in a small role, seen in a flashback sequence set before the first film.
The first film left me speechless and in this video we're gonna be recapping and explaining the plot of it's sequel whilst discussing the future of the franchise.

Ok so once more we follow the family who would do anything for a Quiet Life.
The first film in the franchise picked up with the aftermath of an alien attack that saw several super sensitive creatures combing the landscape looking for prey. The blind aliens had highly adept hearing that meant they hunted on sound and we watched as the Abbots hid out at their farmhouse whilst the monsters operated in the area.
It was very Earie...and that's probably the worst pun I've ever said so if you leave then I don't even blame you. If you're still here though time codes will be linked below incase you wanna skip ahead to a certain talking point.
Now Evelyn played by Emily Blunt fell pregnant and Lee ended up sacrificing himself so that his children could survive. The movie ended with Evelyn and her daughter Regan realising that there was a way to defeat the creatures and them getting this method out there is very much the plot of this film.
Now being labelled Part 2 kinda signifies the aesthetic of this film and the movie actually ties in heavily with the first entry.

The scene where they’re breaking into the radio station and it focuses on her foot trying to get a hold on the desk is cinematic BRILLIANCE

There was so much tension with his hand opening a window. You could feel the fear in his fingers.
Such a relatively small scene in comparison to the rest of the film but still left us on the edge of our seat!! I swear my heart rate was so fast throughout the entire film😂
Near the end where the dad who drove them to the station it was so dumb. He was acting so smart and quick on his feet but as soon as they enter the garage all that intelligence goes out the window. His death was so unnecessary because he was an actual smart guy. I hope you all feel the same.
Nah I think his death made sense. Because he was a calm collected guy, the movie normalized his human error by having him experience a panic attack. He was living in the island free of terror but when terror struck and he realized he was away from his family, he started panicking.. even the most calm, collected guy can have a breakdown in which results to his death

The whole movie is dumb. A pregnant lady with her children figured out how to beat the aliens more than the government could do so. It's intense but dumb and predictable.

we can all agree with each other we all jumped when the bird flew out the train
By pure dumb luck, my husband jump scared me 2 seconds before the birds flew so when it happened I was already freaked out lol
If that had been a monster, it would have been a plot inconsistency, though jump scares are to be expected. Because since that place is desolate, unless the train is providing shelter for them, and it could, why would they be hanging around there? Certainly they wouldn't just be sitting in there smoking a cigg minding their own business. Such a large thing, if it moved at all, would probably alert you long before you got that close to it, by it's own noise (but the girl is deaf - true). Of course, too, it has no reason to hide, if you presume one has seen her earlier and just wants to be cute and hide until she stumbles upon it. They're very brutish, and there's no sense of figuring out anything they hear. They must be able to tell fellow monsters from all the other noise, but that's about it. It makes you wonder how many things falling in the wild, like a tree limb, gets them off on wild goose chases. They so overreact to every little noise, they must run themselves silly.

There actually isn't a continuity error, right when it cuts backs to the present at the very start of the movie, you can see the bodies of like 3-4 aliens in the basement. Meaning they wiped all the one's who were running towards the house at the end of the first movie
The shots the cop took represented the shots she was taking in the present

The scene was amazing and the plan was genius but I thought the dive signal was dumb to me how he asked for a specific word and how it was coincidently used for a specific situation a year later after he ask what dive means in sign language

everyone be talking about the intense parts like the bird in the train and the foot placing going through the window but no one is talking about how our hearts literally stopped the moment the brother didn't realize the oxygen tank and every single intense scene that came after

Yeah I unfortunately watched this movie shortly after my daughter was born and had a full blown wailing meltdown over that scene. It was so painfully long, drawn out and filled me with so much rage.
I loved the rest of the movie but I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to rewatch it because of how distraught I was seeing it (and hearing the insanely loud baby screams) while my post birth hormones were running wild. I deadass wanted to walk out of the cinema and speed all the way home to squeeze my baby.

This was my first time going to the movies in 16 months and it was well worth it. This was a good movie and a worthy sequel to the original, i wished they hadn’t ended the way they did though, very open ended. I can’t wait for the next A Quiet Place movie.
Same I thought the ending was rushed they coulda showed a little bit of her transmitting the signal to everyone, but once I watched the video when he explained it I understood it more but it was the best movie of the year.
Usually in movies there is an epilogue after the climax of the film that wraps things up. I feel like Krasinski likes to skip all that and just keep his endings punchy.
No open-ended in many cases is the BEST thing, because it gives you hope there's more to come. Otherwise you just make up an ending yourself.
It’s not open ended it’s implied they finally found a way to defeat them. The kids are emboldened walking towards the aliens for the first time instead of running away.
@@crb4059 It is open-ended when you consider a lone group of a weak family isn't going to put a dent into the alien invasion whatsoever. That presumably is what the next movie would be about, that maybe they find a way to get the word out so the resistance can grow.
Besides, even if they know how to do it as you say, and even given they have very small numbers, they still haven't realized a greater potential here. And while using a radio station, and somehow a great many humans get some radios along with batteries, there's still other aspects that would have to be utilized to have much impact. One of the easiest of which is how much suckers they are to the least sound, and as we saw with this movie, one guy was already thinking along those lines of making sound traps for them.
If you want to think of this in terms that this movie isn't about an invasion, but about a family growing, then, yes, you need an awful lot of symbolism to achieve anything even slightly close to things being closed here. Great ideas have ways of falling apart, even if you ignore the alien numbers will make these people's contributions to their demise of insignificant value.
They have been scared rabbits, and now they have at least enough, if they can put various things together, to maybe guarantee their survival, but then while we focus on this family, to have the family do what they're capable of, without at least liberating a vast territory from the aliens, any victories are largely empty, simply because there is an overwhelming amount of them, and as I think the newspapers pointed out, this is going on outside USA borders as well.
Right now, their strongest weapon is a radio, but the problem is that the survivors in very many places will be forced to not run radios anyway due to their sound, but, of course, the writer can and will do what they want with this. At this point the world, or a significant chunk of it, has to turn their emergency sirens into putting out feedback sound instead. So the ironic thing is that you would blast out feedback noise and therefore render a large area safe of them. The irony comes when the inhabitants have to wear ear plugs because they're so sick of hearing the feedback all the time.
I guess you could reduce that time in that condition, by sending out hunter teams to find the things in the area. Another use could be to have so many cars stationed around an area, make deliberate noises to draw them in, as we know they'll come, then turn the radio up loud with her hearing aid or some other feedback coming over the airwaves. I said their worst weakness was their utter fanaticism about challenging every noise that's made (not their blindness), and with such a system, you wouldn't even need accomplished hunters to kill them off, because they would all come to you😂 and get the feedback treatment.
So yes, Soooo much more is possible here, and it's not even close to closed. They're certainly talking about a sequel anyway.
This movie was so worth the IMAX experience. 5/5 starts, acting was phenomenal and symbolism was all around. Man, I can’t wait for the sequel
I went to see it in IMAX yesterday, but the movie was kind of blurry at some points which made it difficult to see some small details.. probably just the projector at my cinema

I was sure when I saw his name in this at the same time it was announced Cillian was in it he would have a similar level or role as him not we’d meet this great character who has successfully led this community who, like our main family, discovered the other way to foil the monsters that we didn’t know about like now we found out with the family about their weakness to the noise the cochlear implants cause then suddenly this smart man whose just thought on his feet really quickly with emmet and Reagan to get to the staton to broadcast the noise then he suddenly stops being really smart and makes a decision last minute that makes zero sense that if this quick thinking man even slowly thought for a second would know to turn on his heel like that he’d die or it would be no use to anyone, it’s the only thing in it that really doesn’t make any sense like there was no thought put into it. Very strange! He would have been great in the next movie so to waste him like that is so odd!

Totally slipped that the monster basically
Bust her leg open. That means lotssss of medical attention, she’s going to struggle getting around and possible infection
This was totally a 'the plot demanded it moment.' He was recovering from a leg injury, at no point should he have gone snooping when big giant death monsters can come kill them at any moment. I know he felt like crap having to steal oxygen from his baby brother, but both of them could have died from having to share just like that.
It’s a movie that’s why
true: mother asks him to keep an eye on the baby for maybe 1-2 hours? Yet, he decides to go explore, risking the baby being left to die alone, and attracting monsters to the hideout before mother's return.
This is typical behavior from a child around that age. It's still frustrating.

Saw it today. Very atmospheric! Every actor put in a shift. The jump scares worked and sound was a major part of the movie. I think it’s an excellent movie. Especially when you leave the theatre and are allowed to think about it.
I really wished that they reunited at the end of the movie😭but ig that leads to a quiet place 3 in a sense, just not sure where it’ll lead to tho.

Well they’re making a quiet place spin off before they work on part 3. We may have to wait 4-5 years be4 we see part 3. I hope the spin-off takes place in a big city like Dubai, Tokyo, or Chicago. Man all that noise in a big city will draw so much monsters, I’d love to see a point of view from that

Ah see I agree but what if those dock people, and other bad people find a boat and head on out there. Murderers and rpaests suck as much as alien monsters, so I get why it was a cryptic message. But also to fix this problem of shitty people coming to the island, set up guards at the shores, or at least a watch tower. Lots of little holes like this 😂
They had 12 ships and only two made it to the island because people were too dumb to stay quiet. You seriously think they would be smart enough to come up with a simple easy plan 🤣

@@blackcobra1981 how!? The first movie was at their home with a trip to that waterfall overall…whereas this movie took the family to a new place to bunker, a train station, and a whole new island! Throw in other camps of survivors, both out for personal gain and a community thriving, compared to the isolation seen in the first film. Then we see the journey of both kids, one daring while the other scared out of his mind, culminate in mirroring scenes at the end, which definitely was not the approach in the first film.
Other than the characters and aliens, how exactly is this just a “repeat???” 🤨

The monsters wanted a quiet place after they landed so they silenced everything that made excess sound. The fact that things happened pretty quickly, yet there were newspaper clippings in the first movie is bothering me

I'm curious as to who was publishing and delivering those papers. Monsters come to Earth and begin the apocalypse but these newspaper people are going to work no matter what!
Another thing that was pointed out in the everything wrong video, if the monsters really wanted a quiet place, why do they make so much noise when they're going after people, growling and bumping into things. That sound alone should attract others, but the movie plays it as if only the sounds the humans make attracts them.
@@Concepcion30 exactly my point. The only explanation would be that this landing event took place around the world over a matter of weeks. Per the first scene in the second movie, this was being documented on TV before it hit their town. But how were they able to get those scenes with being silenced? The papers refferd to Mexico and China, maybe they had the papers before it got to their town. That's why everyone knew exactly what to do once they saw the aliens in the sky. Maybe they planned the fires as communication incase the event came to their town.
At 1 hr 37min I found it short, I really feel they could have fleshed out the Scoot McNairy scene more

Absolutely loved it, I too wished the ending of the first film would had made it into the sequel, especially since they picked it up where they did. But overall, the film had me on the edge of seat, to the point where I freaking spilled my nachos onto the ground!
Yeah it was awesome, guessing they wanted the aliens to still have some intimidation to them which is difficult to keep up if you kill 5 in the first 10 mins
But she did kill those aliens…look at that scene again and notice the gun is no longer cocked and when the girl returns to the house, there are several body parts from numerous aliens laying around…

@@redacted927 exactly, not everything has to be shown in detail on the screen to move things along, plus I would have preferred they show the new stuff rather than capping all the monsters anyway…gotta leave it up to your imagination how badass those killings were!
There were dead monster bodies, around the basement. Killing to many monsters in the beginning would lessen the fear factor in my opinion
The ending with the kids , to me it seem it was the beginning of their build up .I could be wrong but the way the did it seemed more than just them killing the creature
I guess, since the anxiety-filled boy step up for the first time against an alien when he couldn't brave himself in his first game.
I loved it when the boy was moving forward with the radio in the end and took out the gun, and at that moment we see Emily Blunt in total surprise but also proud and a tear falls over her cheek and I just loved it.
Did I miss something as to why Marcus went upstairs in the first place? Personally if I got my foot caught in a bear trap a day and a half ago and was alone with my infant sibling in an unfamiliar place surrounded by killer aliens, the last thing I would do is walk up ladders / stairs in the dead of night to be nosy.

I don't think it was a continuity error at the beginning when the family leaves the house. It transitions from the policeman shooting the shotgun multiple times to the boy clutching his ears. I think it meshes what was happening there with the multiple gunshots that the mom was firing to kill the other 2 monsters running towards the house at the end of the first film. Just what I thought upon watching! :)
(Also there were multiple monster bodies in the basement which backs that up)

Yeah fair enough, just a bit disappointing we never saw it. That was the big cliffhanger thing for the last movie. I liked the idea of the one family against these insurmountable odds that were rushing towards them, was just a shame we didn’t get to see it either way.

At the beginning of Part 2 when it flashes to day 400 whatever, I’m pretty sure there are multiple monsters laying dead on the floor, to show those few that were coming after hearing the shotgun sound at the end of Part 1.

Seeing "the nail" position again really indirectly pissed me off how non sensical the position it was in.
Why would a nail be shooting out dead center in a wooden stair ? It's not near any part of the structure that would require it aiming in that direction
The nail was actually hammered down in the first one but when Evelyn does the laundry, her laundry bag gets stuck on the nail and causes the nail to stick back up when she pulls on it, she doesn’t realized that she pulled the nail back up. They focused on that scene for a second in the first one and by the time Evelyn goes down the stairs again, the audience forgets about her accidentally propping the nail back up which is why it scared some people when she steps on it.

@moamashups no he wasn't aware that the oxygen tank was running out otherwise he wouldn't have used the last of it to abandon the baby and leave! He would try to preserve it the same way the mother did when she realized the oxygen is running out. Marcus was just dumb in that scene.

This was the first movie I’ve seen in the theaters since covid and I’m so glad I chose this movie for the occasion. It was truly fantastic

the aliens are almost 100% bulletbroof and can do so much damage in a matter of minutes. it took the main characters over a year to figure out their weakness. why would the military be able to figure that out before getting obliterated?

When you see Marcus and Regan kill their respective monsters at the end, with Evelyn watching Marcus, it was almost a passing of the torch moment. I don't know if they will continue to follow this family in the 3rd one, but if so then the surviving children will have a bigger role.
I wasn't pleased with Marcus snooping around the building which brought the monster that almost got them killed. He was still recovering from a foot injury, at no point did it make sense to go snooping, but I guess the plot demanded it. Or else only Regan would have been in any imminent danger instead of the entire family.
You're close. My niece was Millicent Simmonds second in this film. She did a lot of stand-ins for her where Millicent's face is superimposed on my niece. She told me they already have 6 storylines to work on. My niece got a lot of screen time because Millicent was under 18 at the time of the filming. By law, she had to have school so my niece filled in for her. She's also listed in the credits for another small part she had in the film. Her name is last in the cast credits - Michaela Julianne Pace.
I enjoyed the film, it was much like the first in a similar vein. Sound and editing are top tier. Only complaint is that both films leave you wanting more....which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I think a solid 20-25 mins added to both films (not just the end, but added throughout) would be great to flesh out the lore.
On the other hand, part of the reason why these films are intense and just “work” is because of their quick, punch in the gut nature. They are over before they overstay their welcome. So I can see both sides.
the movie was solid, however still had some plotholes and stupid decisions. Namely from the boy wondering round on his own in the factory. Also surely the people on the island would have a training plan in case the alien ever arrived like knowing to stay silent/not moving etc., instead they were running around and screaming.
Also I noticed there were times when no one was making any noise and the alien knew exactly where they were like the radio station /bunker at the end, which took me out of it a bit.
Another thing that for some reason I never here people talking about is why the aliens can't swim in the 2nd quiet place, when in the first during the flood scene the alien could clearly swim🤨 idk if I'm just dumb or missing something but that seems like a pretty big plot hole

1) why such a fuzz? They aren't that difficult to kill, they're head "opening" all the time, where's the military with choppers, snipers and machine guns? They are attracted to sound, they would follow the chopper like sheep's!

1.) There not easy to kill... there head only seems to open up enough to kill them when the hearing aid is used. Let’s say that’s not the case problem to remains that no hearing aid means no “stun” and no stun on the alien means you’d have to be a godly shot. A alien running toward you and 60mph.. that’s not including it jumping or using it’s long ass limbs to just reach you how are you killing that?? Next since no one knows about the hearing Can’t military can’t do shit lol because of obvious reason that I said because the aliens seem bullet proof unless their head is open. This means no helicopter guns or snipers are messing with it. However let’s say that it’s all possible the promblem that comes in is no one was ready for the apocalypse,so when it all happened most the choppers prob were destroyed during an attack. Even if they weren’t gas eventually runs out and it would be too loud and dangerous to get more. There’s another problem tho say for w.e you find a solution to the gas problem helicopters still make noice and have to land right? How are you going to land safely without alerting the aliens. It’s no way to do that even if you kill all the ones chasing you. The problem will always be noise because it always attracts more. You would need a area they can’t ever get into so there’s always a place to land safely, but we see them jumping on stuff and ripping super strong stuff to pieces. All it takes is one mess up with closing the gates or a plane/helicopter not paying attention. All in all no matter how you look at it there’s barely a way to win without the hearing aid.
2.) How many? Probably hundreds of thousands and Tbh there doesn’t need to be thousands 10 if that can wipe out a city there a fast, can jump, have crazy hearing etc. Your right they do pop up randomly tho so no telling the amount.

I may be alone in this but I didn't really enjoy this movie as much as other people. The death angels are never explored further, some scenes drag on for way too long, the boat scene could have been completely cut off and nothing would change. The characters are not as well done.

Not nearly as good as the first. In the trailer they make it a point to say that the people left surviving are bad, but we only see a handful of bad people, and in only one scene. Every other person we see is down right delightful and super welcoming, or at least helpful. I was hoping this movie would go further to introduce other people as antagonists in addition to the aliens, but that really didn't happen. Also the plot was pushed along by characters making dumb decisions. Like Marcus deciding to play Dora Explorer instead sitting still and just watching the baby as he was told to do. One minute he's terrified of being left alone, next minute he's wondering off?..Inconsistencies like that hold a great premise back from blossoming into a great movie.
Me and my wife found a couple of problems too. Like why are the bad guys not chilling off on an island. Why stay on main land. And why not bother the other people. Maybe they don't know? Maybe just to catch people and then rape them. But nonetheless. Great movie.
That was not the point of the trailer and sometimes you can’t come in with expectations of a different story you hope for it ruins the experience.

Most movies writers barely know how to write complex characters anymore, they just write a premise and have some cool scenes in mind then expand out from there. Writing for highly intelligent characters is just too hard for them, so to push their plots forward they have to write the characters doing dumb stuff. It is classic horror movie trope, but horror movies typically don't attract the best writers so we excused it, now that horror movies are so mainstream it is far less excusable.
I don’t get the point of marcus leaving the baby alone because he had the urge to go and explore the place and react the way he did when he saw emmett’s wife dead body when he should’ve gotten used to dead bodies by that time. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

At first when I heard "you have to see in the theater" i thought it was a desperately attempt to make money but it definitely is a movie to be watched in the theater. It was amazing, all the details, acting and storyline was incredible. John did am amazing job with this and it was better than the first one.

Why didn't the island people just record a voice transmission on a loop clearly telling people where to come to the sanctuary with the island coordinates instead of making people guess- I'm sure they would have had a whole studio of recording and radio equipment other than just that turntable
Also the alien "floating over" so fast on a boat... I don't like for plausability... Unlikely for water current to actually happen that way in that timeframe of several hours of them arriving- maybe after several days or a week of floating on unmanned open water...
Also how would the alien ever know or what direction to jump off the boat, as it would risk drowning again- it can't see when it's moored or docked and a gentle floating boat isn't going to ram into the island to alert it- vibration wise it's going to keep sensing it's floating and not on solid ground, so why would it jump off
Just a number of things that don't make sense in this movie and are done just to increase the tension. The characters make more irrational choices in this film than in the first one.
I was wondering the whole time after i got out of my showing how the fuck they got onto the island, at the very least undetected.
Also why would the man take someone's minor child on a long trip to the island without informing their parent, especially when the parent was looking for them? It doesn't matter what the child wants, he should have been a responsible adult. He could have returned the child to her mother and gone to the island by himself.
For the third one, it went in the direction of all the loud people and the loud squeaky bucket from when that guy was using the well. The other two are just pretty nit picky.

The black father from the island is a talented actor but directors just keep giving him Poop roles😭

Not many 'sequels' land it better than the first, but omfg! I loved this movie so much. At the end where both kids took on the roles of their parents. Emmet redeeming himself in the best way. I loved how they used him as a father role but wasnt a father and how they set it up in the opening scene the role he would play later. Loved how they left out all the fat of the movie, didnt waste seconds explaining what the audience knew and we didnt need to have characters giving other characters exposition. John knew we arnt stupid as fans and dont need to be spoon fed the redundancies a ton of other directors put into movies just to make a 90 minute role time for a green light. I dont like how they did Dijimon but considering he was cast as "the man on the island" not much to expect but he served his purpose. If there is no third movie I am 110% absolutely fine with that as both these films are worth rewatches on their own. Dont need more back story than what we got, the comet explains everything we need to know about the creatures yada yada yada. They dont need to swim as there isnt water in space and the way the creatures are they seem like they cling onto asteroids pretty well. But it also means that there is a finite amount of them and in time with tactics im sure they can be erradicated making this a very practical movie. From the first movie I knew they wouldnt be able to swim and would be impervious to heat since they didnt burn up on reentry but probably were thawed out from the coldness of space. 11/10 for sure. Emilys face at the end when she saw her son take the demigorgan out was simply stunning. Really happy they managed to get John in the movie at an even better capacity, not stealing the show but having teh audience take an emotional dive literally right out of the gate. My only gripe with it is the 90 minute run time. It couldve easily have gone another 20 minutes adding in one more scene of scares somewhere in the middle. But for 90 minutes it was paced beautifully and the trust John had in the audience not being too dumb to get a creature feature was refreshing. Good review fam.

One of the best aspects of the movie, to me, is how it teeters back & forth between heart-pumping music & sound effects one second, to telling the story from the perspective of a deaf character (no sound) the next second.
In a movie where a sound can kill you, it built so much tension & drama.

I thought it was alright, and do think that there's a good possibility for a sequel or two because the lore is so mysterious; Anything can be made within its universe.
I believe a spin-off has been confirmed (though we don't have any details yet), and I heard it mentioned by one of the actors in an interview that a sequel is being considered.

I had a great time because there were only like 3 other people in the theatre. I personally love that. I've always wanted to see a movie in an empty theatre
The whole movie was great and did really well in mixing in action with thriller/Horror. The ending for me was a bit unexpected and sudden but it's a good move on the directors side as it really gets people hooked and wondering what's going to happen next in the story of the family.
"Continuity error" the first movie iterates many times that theres 3 in the area and the second movie shows the remains of 3 monsters. youd have to be dense not to notice
I liked everything in this movie except for the ending. It seems like they didn't know how to end it. There should have been one more scene of the family reuniting
I feel like they purposefully left it open for the possibility of another sequel. I actually heard in an interview (I believe Emily Blunt said this?) that John Krasinski has already mentioned that a trilogy is being considered.

Shotgunned these movies back-to-back at the cinema last night ahead of its general release date on June 3rd. Very entertaining thrillers that are best enjoyed on the big screen imo.
Thankfully, everyone in attendance were quiet throughout both movies with no unnecessary noise being made.
