First, I agree with the wait for the post season to be over first. Let's not get the cart before the horse. Second, I"m not all that certain that the dodgers will be looking for pitching. Shohei is supposed to be back on the bump next year, add that with Glasnow and Yamamoto and any others and I don't see much room for newcomers. And lastly, we have so much middle infield youth... I think I'd rather see them just finally hand the job to Cabrera... and no telling if they actually try to bring Gleyber back. He's been great down the stretch and in the playoffs.
No way in tarnation that la moves Muncy. Next year they(la)will have a stable of arms next year barring injury, and will be looking to go all the way with a vengeance.
We have Berti & Jazz under contract and were Lefty heavy this year- pass on Muncy who will be 35 next summer. Im fine with trading Nestor for a younger 1B or 3B but not a career .228 hitter in his decline years- do we really want another DJ LeMahieu?
I looked up Muncy - He can play first to, so I like the versatility. He is set to make $14.5M next year - Gleybar makes $14.2 now, and Rizzo has a $17M option, with a $6M. I imagine the Yankees will try to save money at other positions to sign Soto. They DJ, Ozwaldo, and Berti under control, all versatility and at reasonable deals, so I don't see it right now. Also, why are the Dodgers trading Muncy? Anyway, right now I'm hoping for. World Championship!
If Nestor is healthy, which is debatable, I could see them trading him. That said trading for a 34 power hitting infielder, who is coming off an injury IS NOT that good of an idea in my opinion. I would much rather they trade Brian Cashman to the White Sox for a couple of Kryspy Kreme Donuts.
This would depend on the Soto deal. It adds a significant contract (12M) along with the upside. That said, starting pitching is a current area of strength, which makes the trade entirely reasonable. If Soto signs, I'd want to keep my SP strength right where it is for the WS run. If not, then you'll need every offensive increase you can squeeze out of the market to replicate Soto's impact...
I don’t like it - hasn’t Muncy had issues with contact/batting average? Also, older 2nd base types scare me because they aren’t super athletic to begin with - part of the reason why they play 2nd to begin with. When they start losing that, they fall off a cliff
No, no no no no no I don’t care how many home runs he hits don’t need an old man. We will be able to find a third baseman probably through our system. You gotta give it a chance and if I were the Yankees, I would not trade Nestor unless it’s absolutely 100% necessary pitching is buried treasure especially when you know what you have.! go Yankees!💪💪
I prefer the idea of bringing Gio back and moving Jazz to second. Jazz makes me nervous every time he makes a throw! Plus, Gio is a great third baseman.
Resign Soto and Torres we can figure out the rest As 2024 WS Champs we can pick up someone cheap at the trade deadline that is looking for a ring Go Yankees let’s stay focused on winning 6 games !
I have always argued for Torres. Yanks would no way be where they are without him this second half. Best lead off hitter on team. I would re-sign him with no reservations. Killing it in the post season.
I like the power of Muncy, but his age is a concern. Looking at his career numbers, he looks like a Joey Gallo type with an AB usually resulting in a walk, Strikeout, or homer. I wouldn't object to trading Nestor, but I'd rather get youth and/or contact ability.
Absolutely not on Muncy. This is exactly the kind of player we had that was killing this lineup; big power, high walk rate, but low average, high strikeout rate. Guys like Muncy was our entire analytic philosophy that ruined us for at least half a decade if not longer. We're supposed to be moving away from this, not going back toward it. And I'll never get the Ryan Mcmahon thing. He crushes the ball when he hits it, that's what all that red is on his baseballsavant page. The problem is, he doesn't make contact enough for that to even matter. He's a .240 hitter, typically, who only puts the ball out of the park 20 times a year. He's got a glove, but everybody's so enticed by the metrics that don't amount to anything. Why on Earth would we trade any of our young talent for that? If we are going to trade any of them, it's going to be for something more substantial. In the middle of the season McMahon was hitting .270 and people were citing that in the trade speculation. I kept trying to point out that his BABIP was out of control and that he would regress to the .240 hitter he's been in years prior. Look at what he ended the season at. That's exactly what happened. Filling 3b would be nice, but with the option of keeping Jazz there and filling 2b instead (Caleb Durbin), we don't need to make a move to fill 3rd unless it's the right move. This ain't it.
I’m not really interested in Muncy - the Rotation clearly has 4 spots set for certain Cole Rodon Schmidt Gil I’d prefer keeping Nestor as a lefty option (Stro is back for another year too) as keeping everyone healthy for a whole year is unlikely and both Warren and Hampton need more time before I’m comfortable with them bearing the burden
We have way more than Warren and Hampton our AA was full of arms. Stro stuff was declining rapidly as the season went on I believe he’ll be traded as well. Poteet will get a opportunity for the 5th spot
@@michaelhelton3805 no doubt but how many are MLB ready for 10-15 starts NEXT season? I have no problem with trading anyone if organizational projections warrant it I just don’t see the need to add a 34 yr old slugger with an injury history
@@dumbocondo33 I definitely wasn’t advocating for Muncy he’s a below average bat. I want an open competition at 2nd or 3rd we’ve got some guys that are deserving of an opportunity. Cabrera, Berti, Durbin, Peraza, and Vivas all can play 2nd or 3rd. Pitching wise I believe Chase Hampton would’ve been an option this season if not for injuries. Our AA and AAA teams will be loaded with arms. some will be pushing for roster spots coming out of spring training. We need to use them one way another to help this team
@@michaelhelton3805 we agree on all of that They’re clearly trying to integrate at least one younger player a year into the lineup for a host of reasons, not least financial. Next up are likely to be Dominguez and Ric but all those other AAA and AA IF are close and if a guy like Peraza does not Project or is not ready now he will be a trade chip. Hampton us likely the next guy to get a shot at starting - this season The Yanks were generally pretty healthy (Cole and Schmidt were out for significant periods, Rodon was healthy as was Stroman and Gil and Nestor were out for shorter terms. Poteet started a few before he went down and they only really needed to go to a #8 starter (Warren) 4 or 5 times. Last year was a little different - Cole was the only guy who was a real horse, Schmidt was solid but Rodon, Nestor, Montas, Sevy, were all unavailable for stretches and they had significant starts from Brito, Vasquez and King once he got out of the pen. And I’m sure I’m forgetting someone too lol That’s 9 guys with more than a cameo in the rotation. This year was 6 with Poteet and Warren each getting a small number.
German! How could I forget the perfect game? So that’s 10 last season. As those AA and younger guys come up the possibilities to slot guys in or augment the roster thru trades will really expand Future looks good
If the Yankees can’t sign Soto which I believe will happen maybe they could replace him with Sant from Baltimore and let Dominguez play in left. That would help to replace some of the Soto loss.If this happens I would resign Torres. And I would definitely trade Cortez.it’s amazing what we can do with someone else’s money lol.❤️ the channel and the talks👍
Yankees are loading lineup with righties tonight against there lefty meanwhile yankees are going to have a dead arm behind plate =steals with a team that puts ball in play. Runners on are going to hurt us
Munch is way too old. Trade Nestor for someone who is younger. No trading our young studs. Plus we need to focus on signing on Soto, his signing should be our first priority.
As qe watch, Torres should be re-signed. Great bat control, he is one of very few Yankees that can hit good pitching. Further, get Wells out of Cleanup. Judge needs to be protected.
Why on earth would you drop one of the three best hitters so far and move a lesser hitter to leadoff in his place? Also, that blows the righty/lefty flow in the lineup, making it easier to matchup for opposing managers.
Offer Torres a qualifying offer. No doubt !! After last year's great season, we thought this year would be a monster one, but wasn't. But what makes it different this year is, he has responded under the worst conditions. Hats off to Boone for benching him too, when he did. Different player after that
The problem with Trevino is the guardians can steal bases that can cost us a game

Frank, I agree. We can discuss these kinds of things after the World series is over with the Yankees hopefully winning it!
I wouldn't do this because of his age, we should stay young.

Agree 100% about moving Wells out of the four spot!

35, never more than 144 games in a season, low average, ok home run numbers (not good enough when you bat .220) and strikes out a lot.
No thanks.

Jason can we enjoy this first we two wins after from WS
I would keep playing rizzo if his hands up to it. His bats heating up. The 4 spot sounds ideal.
We don’t need to turtles back to back😂
It depends on what the Yankees need for the infield and the contract resign for Juan Soto. Yet, they may want to get Roki Sasaki or Corbin Burns.
hey jason have you tried the chicken bigmac at all
Not thrilled with trading for Muncy.

The problem is when Cortez is on he is good. I think I would make that trade and find a replacement for Cortez.
Rather go with Rice - or even Rizzo - at first.
Yankees need the pitching to surround Cole. Why can't they talk to the Cubs about Nico hoerner. Max muncy bad mistake
Keep Rizzo in lineup. Take out chisholm and put in berti.
Maxey is on the decline as a fielder and is injury prone over last 2-3 yrs. Trading Nester makes sense, but I think NYY can do better than Maxey.
No way for a 34 year old
No sense to me . Older player. Get younger not older..

The Martian will be in CF that’s his natural position.
Trade Stroman instead of Cortes.

Nope no more brain farts help win the ring and good luck next season else where.
Stay young
Get younger ,not older
Max makes no sense to me
Agree
I would make that trade. I am not a fan of Muncy but i think Yankee stadium is made for his swing.
Sorry, dude. Im mot feeling this Max Muncy movs. Feels like Josh Donaldson all over again.
HARD NO for me, Jason.
If I had to shake up the lineup this is what I’ll do
1 Verdugo
2 Soto
3 Judge
4 Wells
5 Stanton
6 Torres
7 Chisholm
8 Rizzo
9 Volpe
Why on earth would you drop one of the three best hitters so far and move a lesser hitter to leadoff in his place? Also, that blows the righty/lefty flow in the lineup, making it easier to matchup for opposing managers.
I'd rather send Stroman to L.A. for Muncy. If the Dodgers want Cortes, Yanks should ask for Gavin Lux instead.
