      I cut back this one to much before the hurricane and doesn’t really recouped very well just yet. Hopefully when the rainy season starts will get better.

    I have a very nice red variety, nice quality, with thick flesh….
    We call them Jocotes.

    We use to chew on the leaves they are little sour but good to chew on.

    I really think this is the tree I planted that is only a stick and it's starting to have some buds now. I hope it's yellow. My neighbor called it a Mexican plum.

    Dermatitis, really? Well maybe i wasn't sensitive to it then. I use to eat the damn leaves when I was a kid! I like the taste, it tastes a little limy, almost like wood Sorel.

      Ha ha , you built up your immunity like a rock! It makes a huge difference what we eat and how we eat while young … Back where I am from we also ate many things that now I learn it’s actually poisonous … we had no idea 🤷🏻‍♀️… yet we are still here.

    How long did it take for them to fruit from cuttings?

      I think 🤔 it was about 1-2 years… it will loose all the leafs when you stick it to the ground but then sprouts 🌱 back and grows rapidly.

    Beautiful videos. I just found your channel. Do the ciruela trees ever get full of only ciruelas and no leaves? Was it the end of the season Maybelline? I have seen them with only the fruit.

    Do they ripen if you pick them green?

      From my experience you pick them when they are fully ripe and they are ready to eat . Some people eat them green , but I found it much tastier when ripe and sweet with a nice red or yellow color , depending on what variety . With that said they suppose to be climacteric , so they can still ripen after picking but I prefer waiting on them to turn color on the tree 🌳. It’s a good idea to bag them from birds and other animals. Organza bags can be helpful.

    Hi, it’s really hard to find them where I am at in the U.S. today I found some for 25 dollars a pound, I was wondering how can I germinate the seeds ? I hadn’t had this fruit in over 12 years it was one of my favorite fruits growing up, I want to grow a tree !

      Hi Maria, thank you very much, I was just talking to someone from Cali about ciruela cuttings , the state of California makes it very difficult from what I am understanding to send plants /cuttings 🌱 over, let me know if you have any other info on that. Otherwise yes I could if the regulations allow us, but so far what I am reading is not promising.

      @@PlantsAmore I checked with aphis-usda and they said it can be send only if purchased in a nursery because they would have the documentation needed in order to ship to California. Other than that a person can go to their local USDA and have inspection done and get proper documentation to ship out.

      Yes, they can , but I never tried that method, cuttings are a great way to propagate them & get the same exact variety of fruit.
