Hello friends,
Welcome to my TH-cam Channel.
Well to introduce myself,
I Have been in the fish keeping for more than two decades.
Like most of you, it all started with a hobby and gradually turned into a profession.
But I still consider myself as a hobbyist
Coz it's more a passion than a profession.
Over the years I have raised many fish species such as guppies, endlers, freshwater angelfish, oscars, arrowanas Sting rays and discus.
And had success in breeding fish varieties like guppies, fresh water angelfish, discus and Flowerhorns.
Since Last 5 years I have been commercially breeding and raising freshwater angelfish and discus fishes.
Through the TH-cam Channel medium would love to share my experience and knowledge in fish keeping and breeding over the years.
As my channel name suggests my videos would mostly focus on the Discus fish but also I would upload some of my fish videos other than Discus which I had raised and bred in past years.
Well coming back to discus, we will just talk about the basics in Discus keeping in this video.
In future videos would seperately cover more topics like tank size, tankmates, fish food, breeding, raising babies, diseases and treatments etc.
Discus is one of most rewarding fish in the aquarium hobby, but definitely not a beginner's fish.
It's also referred as the king of the aquarium for their awesome beauty and vibrant colours.
They origin from the Amazon river basin and mostly habitat near the shallow waters offshore where the water flow is quiet, avoiding strong water currents.
These Discus found in their natural habitat are reffered as wild caught Discus, and are comparatively hard to keep rather than the captive bred especially due to their water chemistry and food habits.
pH should be between 6.0 and 7.0, with hardness between 1° and 4° dKH (18 to 70 ppm). Temperature should be kept between 82° and 86° F i.e. 27° to 30° celcius.
Higher temperature increases the metabolism of the fish.
Although Being a member of the chiclid family Discus are generally calm and peaceful fish but can be aggressive towards one another during pairing or spawning
In the wild Discus diet mainly on plant material and small crustaceans and worms.
But the captive bred Discus readily accept the pellets and dry foods.
Hikari bio gold and tetrabits are also a good option to feed your Discus.
I mostly feed my Discus
animal heart mix blended with shrimps/ krills green peas spinach and tetrabits to bind the mixture.
And frozen blood worms twice a week, Frozen Sterilised blood worms are a treat to these fishes
Although animal heart mix is not in their natural diet it's not harmful to feed these captive bred varities
As it a rich source of proteins which helps in their overall growth and coloration.
Discus can be kept in planted or aquascaped aquariums but there are again many factors revolving that
I mean tank size tankmates aquarium filtration feed etc.
I mostly prefer bare bottom tanks which are easy to maintain and provide excellent quality of water for the Discus to thrive on.
Breeding your home raised Discus is very rewarding and challenging at the same time.
All it requires is your time care and attention towards your loved fishes.
Overall Discus are really easy to care fish if given proper time and dedication.
Even during their illness unlike other fishes, they give plenty of time to diagnose and treat the diseases.

Sir I am not an expert about ph would recommend you to use dry almond leaves to lower the ph or else you can contact many experts featured on our channel they will definitely guide you properly
