Nice to see Giant has been paying attention to customer feedback with the Trance X and put together an aweome bike. A lot of 29ers are coming spec'd with 32t chainring and 175mm cranks, I like the fact they spec'd ithe Trance X with 30t chainring and 170mm cranks. Should be a lot less pedal strikes and one less thing I would have to change if I bought it.

Great show Doddy and Henry I bought a Titanium frame Marin in 1995/96 for the bike shop to fit Rockshox Judy XC on it ,loved that bike. The bottom bracket for seized in the frame 3 bike shops tried to remove it but couldn't 😟 Frame and forks say in my shed for years had study up and binned them ,if only I realised what I was throwing away 😩😩😩
I would love to see you guys build up a klunker from a cruiser on this channel, then have one of the GMBN guys take it out on the trails to see how it fares. Also to see what choices in frame and parts you guys would make given your experience. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there right now with just a cruiser in their garage wanting to have some more fun than riding to a cafe, but - you know, bike shortage.
One of my close friends I ride with was one of the few women to race Repack. Unfortunately nowadays there is very limited legal single track to ride in Marin. Camp Tamparancho is fun though and you can ride there from town!
Any chance you guys could do a series on repurposing s/xs 26inch older bikes for kids , how to tune suspension for lighter rider weights etc and tricks to get geo more up to date, maybe even women's bike trek lush Or similar.
Would love an in depth video on the pinion gearbox. Aside from price I can’t understand why they haven’t caught on. In my mind the advantages far out way the disadvantages
I'd like to see this as well. Pinion seems like the best of the internal transmission options, even better than a Rohloff hub. I'd love to have a Pinion gearbox with a Gates belt drive. Probably the most low maintenance bicycle drivetrain there is. I'm guessing that the lack of Pinion being a major OEM supplier is the reason most companies don't make a Pinion frame.
It's funny to hear Doddy giving Northern California credit for inventing mountain biking when there were British off-roaders like Geoff Apps for decades before Gary Fisher and friends starting doing it (and I say this as an American). While scanning the market recently for a 24” kids hard tail, It’s interesting to see how brands come and go. Brands I would have considered years ago now have overpriced under-specced bikes. While brands I always overlooked as being either cheap junk or expensive semi boutique (at least in Australia), now offer quality bikes for reasonable prices. We ended up pre ordering a new Orbea Laufey 24 H20 Junior. Yesterday I noticed Marin have released the San Quentin 24. Goes to show you need to reassess your stance on brands every few years.
Today's Top Fact: Whilst El Roy's does have a restaurant, the best food they do is from their food truck (which is just down the road from Marin HQ)....and it is in Sonoma County, not Marin. It's also popular with the e13 team too (who are just down the road as well).
Graham Pye I’ve always wanted a “sleeper” bike, which is a bike that other riders would laugh at when you roll up on the trail because it looks like it doesn’t shred. But then you would keep up and even pass these same riders. I think this Larkspur would fit the bill lol!
A few episodes back you showed the Marin El Roy. Well as an avid hardtail fan it had me intrigued but as someone who “sort of” enjoys to climbs as well as the gnarly descents would you recommend it or is there another aggressive hardtail that’ll fair better on the way up?
Props for the effort but those RST dirt jump forks are downright dangerous how weak they are. Broke a pair 4 days after buying my Mongoose fireball just from using the front brake a lot, didn't even get to jump it(which I'm glad).
