Wow. I was driving my MK2 to my new house. I heard a boom and I couldn’t do anything. I open the hood and saw that the driver side Accel snapped off of the transmission. I ordered new axles installed it. I was going to take my car to test drive. I cranked the car up I put in reverse and the card in budge. I put it in first gear tried second but it wouldn’t go in then third fourth and fifth.
Did you remove the LHS driveshaft completely? You don't mention it, but I cant see it. If so, did you have to unbolt that base of the strut from the ball joint, to get enough clearance?
Thanks a lot mate! I‘m going to do the same on my MK2 GTI very soon and i‘m glad to have some footage of it. Greetings from Switzerland ✌🏻
Glad it's useful. Good luck and all the best pal

Hi mate yes had to remove driveshaft completely, I undid the 3 bolts from ball joint then swung the hub out to allow driveshaft to come free

This is exactly what I was thinking
Mate, get a white pointer. It is "worth a 1000 words".
