Interesting that the plant lights don't cover the length of the tank as shown at 5:25. Setting them in a tote raises them enough to help with algae and spread out the light. So we can max out a smaller, less expensive light. Excellent idea. Thank you

Organic potting soil. Has to be organic. Also it needs to be capped(covered) with sand or gravel. Be careful not to disturb it. Saying that from personal experience. It makes such a mess. I prefer using root tabs or fluval stratum personally just because it’s easier for me. Happy fish keeping. 😊
