    I still can't believe Joshua stepped into Rindo and Shoka's moment there, tossed Shoka into a dumpster somewhere in Shibuya for a month and dipped out like that but it's the most Joshua thing to do.

      I have just finished this game, and I replayed previous chapters to 100% the game.
      I just realised something Joshua is already interfered FROM THE BEGINNING.
      Now it's been stated that Rindo's ability to rewind time should not be a naturally occurring power, that it muat have been given by a higher authority.
      So now go back to the opening chapter, look at the scene where Fret give the Reaper Pin to Rindo, he threw it at Rindo, and the pin rolled onto someone and that someone then picks up the pin to return it to Rindo... LOOK AT THE LEGS of that someone, it's definitely Joshua!
      He gave the rewind power to Rindo since the beginning of the game.

    I agree with Kariya. All the Angels look to be weirdos. Well except maybe Hanekoma, even if he did try to erase his friend Joshua (but it was to save the city).
    I think some of the social network rewards have a link to the character giving them. Like all the shop owners gives you something of their brand (or access to more dishes or their restaurant), Fret is your friend so he gives you access to Easy Mode, Nagi is smart so you can directly adapt your settings/retry after been beaten and so on.

    Now that we're at the end of the playthrough, there's one thing that bothers me
    It's stated that the Composer has enough Imagination to reincarnate people. When someone is erased, they're not gone forever. Their energy turns into something else (for example, Rhyme turned into a pin) or they become a different person. So... Why the heck isn't anyone undoing the mess that Kubo started when he decided to overstep his boundaries? A lot of people's erasure is on the angels' hands.

    • @dawnwayfinder
      @dawnwayfinder 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think it depends on how much of a person's Soul is left.
      It would be easy to save Rhyme, but impossible to bring back Nao, Sota or the members of Death March.
      Either becoming 'Noise food' or their essesnse is scattered into the ether.

    • @Maski110
      @Maski110 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When someone is erased their Soul turns into fragments that scatter. Rhyme was turned into a Noise because Hanekoma collected these fragments.

    • @keyblade43
      @keyblade43 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think The Composer has a certain limit, not because they want it, its cause they are not literally Gods like "The Gods" like Jesus or Budda that they can do and know "everything". For E.X Joshua didnt know everything about Kubo and he needed it to investigate, or he didnt know the true intentions about Coco back in TWEWY Final Remix. Otherwise Kanon would be back :( Or cause they are really assholes xD. Its just a theory

    • @thatoneguyintheback5095
      @thatoneguyintheback5095 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      same reason why Mikage just turned the Soul pulvis into Phoenix Cantus instead of outright getting rid of it, the angels still wanna nuke Shibuya like Joshua was going to in the 1st game, Rindo's plea just convinced him to throw em a bone

  • @TiduLimar
    @TiduLimar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

    I think angels are just weirdos. We basically dont know anything about their rules and society though outside of them existing. iirc the first game mentionened them not being allowed to interfere personally usually (but we know of there being exceptions), maybe they just dont care outside of special circumstances.
    I agree on the Josh Neku relationship its unique.

All dude did was show up and snark off. In fact, I like to think that it's because angel waves that Haz had Rindo show him around Shibuya. I only played it recently myself, but the original TWEWY on the DS was one of my favourite games that I've played - I've never seen a game which takes such full advantage of a console's features, and one which also integrates just about every single mechanic so seamlessly with the message of the game.
    It's been fun watching your reactions in these highlight videos, they're fun and great ways to show this really interesting game, which itself had a very good message to it. The visual aesthetics to the game are also absolutely top notch, and I also really love the eclectic mix of genres for the music, and they grew on me a lot, just like the soundtrack of the first game did.
    I agree about Joshua, though, weirdly I like him and absolutely hate him, at the same time, haha. - Oh yeah, you skipped over when the Twisters fought those Noise clusters shaped like Ayano, Fuyu, Motoi, and Kanon - that was one of Nagi's finest moments, I'd say. As the eldest of the new heroes (physically, relative to Shoka), she's surprisingly the most emotionally matured of the four - so it's up to her to guide the other three through their post-traumatic struggles.
    - Hey, give Neku a break. He's spent the last three years investigating what's left of Shinjuku (and probably trying to stay off Shiba's radar all the while). Wouldn't be surprised if Joshua sent that coat as a comfort gift, though.
    - FEAR THE DEER
    - Okay, if you think about it, Susukichi's passion for Reversi makes sense by now. He's far more tactical than he appears. And his black/white mindset is likely why he didn't take a shot at Shiba sooner - probably figured that if a win isn't certain, it's best not to risk it. That said, with how close Shiba is to pulling off an Inversion, Susukichi likely couldn't wait any longer. If he was gonna make a risky move, it may as well be now or never.
    - "A power not of the supernatural variety." CrystAAHHL: {thinks of the biggest supernatural force of Shibuya}
    - Heh...Wanting Neku in his Game is what Shiba THOUGHT the point of these new pins was for. But Kubo was really only looking for someone who could Replay enough times to unwittingly propagate a city-sized flock of Soul Pulvus.
    (Kubo is only the second Angel that we've faced trouble from - the first one is only revealed by the Secret Reports in the first game. But Kubo is the only truly antagonistic one that we've met. And he was so despicably unfair that another high power had to step in to eliminate him.)
    - Yeah, just when you thought Joshua finally intervened, it was actually some other Composer.
    (I still can't believe the pre-release trailers went and showed what Haz looked like...!)
    - The start of W3D7'' is a...surreal kind of "helplessness moment". The city is safe and back to normal, but Rindo doesn't have anything besides this oddball stranger who's curious about the sights of Shibuya - and everything this stranger asks just "coincidentally" reminds Rindo of what he went through in the Game.
    (As for why everyone erased by the Soul Pulvus couldn't be restored...well, Noise destroy whatever they consume. The Soul they were all made of was already gone.)
    - 07734
    - And there's the private dick extraordinaire you've been waiting for~!! Just showing up to express that he's proud of his...oh, what are Shibuya's citizens to him? I was about to say "his dear children", but...I-It's like a "well done, son" thing! Uh, yeah. Papa Shibuya's proud of everyone.
    (Joshua actually appeared in the prologue - of course, you could only see his shoes and his hand back then.)
    (I agree, it is kinda sweet that Josh already considers Neku a worthy successor as Composer. Maybe one day, Joshua - but for now, let's let Neku get as much out of life as he can.)
    - ...And completing the Shinjuku-based Cantus forms, we have Phoenix Cantus! We could probably consider this Kubo's Cantus form - like, the last remaining remnant of him. But again, another creature depicted as graceful.
    - Okay...now _what will it take to get Neku in Smash_ (with Rindo as his Echo Fighter)??

      i agree on your final thoughts. the story isn't BAD per se but it does feel like it failed to meet severla promises from the bonus content in TWEWY's re-release, several characters do basically nothing important (Including the character who was introduced in the aforementioned bonus content ostentsibly to be important for this game) and the themes feel kinda...forced. Also yes Joshua's...WEIRD here and it feels like they're trying too ahrd to paint the angels as good guys rather than acknowledge that they kinda kill a lot of people for shitty reasons, and don't even bother to explain wwhere joshua's been or why he didn't step in. hell, we don't even know WHY Kubo wanted to erase Shibuya.

    Idk if people know this but…
    Spoiler maybe?
    Hazuki is in reality the Composer os Shinjuku, (like how our boy Josh is Composer of Shibuya) and like Josh, Haz requested the aid of Kubo the Angel to “cleanse” Shinjuku, but Kubo overstepped and tried the same with Shibuya, manipulating both Shiba and Rindo to use their powers to create the Noise from the Player Pin to erase Shibuya. (Meanwhile Joshua… at Starbucks doing nothing at all)
    And also: not an insult to Neshiki ships, but tecnically Neku isn’t dating Shiki (the game addresses that Neku cares about Shiki cuz she drove him out of his emo shell, thats what caused Neku to be scared of losing in the second week of the og game) and as well in Another Day, Neku himself addresses that he only had one friend in school who showed him CAT’s (Hanekoma) mural at Udagawa and was avoiding people because he didn’t want to attach to other people since if they died, Neku would’ve become even more depressed and Neku also says “It almost broke me last time. If it happened again, I…” and Neku and Shiki become fast friends, causing Neku to open up to people)
    Mu thoughts but again not an insult or anything (I personally do ship them tho’)

    When it comes to the gameplay and stuff, this game was a lot of fun. Probably better than the original TWEWY Switch version.
    In terms of story and characters? Absolutely not. The characters introduced in this game certainly aren't bad, but they don't get nearly as much development as the characters in the first game did. Nagi especially barely got ANYTHING, and that's a damn crime, because I like her a lot. Hell, the best parts of this game was when the old TWEWY gang got back together. I cared more about them than Rindo and the others. Neku reuniting with his friends, even Josh, are the best parts of the game.
    Speaking of Joshua, I really can't stand how he was written in this game. Coming in at the last second as a deus ex machina, when yeah, he could have prevented this whole thing if he just did his damn job. Why didn't he do his job? The Secret Reports give somewhat of an answer, but it's kind of half-assed and still makes me mad. I would have loved to see more of Josh and Haz. Super interesting characters that the writers did nothing with, when really, they should have been a huge part considering the whole destroyed cities thing.
    The story was kinda dumb too. The villains weren't nearly as interesting as in the first game, so that automatically makes it inferior. Nobody's really dead in the UG, or at least none of the main characters are, so the stakes of going back alive aren't there. The whole "play the game or die" thing has been done before in other games, and done way better (999 for example). It just didn't grab me as much as dead people trying to come back to life. And there's no entry fees for anybody either, so those stakes are gone too. Much less interesting.
    All and all, not a *bad* game per se, but extremely inferior to the original. Like I said, the best parts were when the OG cast were in the spotlight. Not sure what that says about this game, but I don't think it's good. 6/10 game imo.

    • @BlueCrimson10
      @BlueCrimson10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I agree with most parts but the villains. I like Shiba way more than I care for Kitaniji. Shiba was actually a constant presence in the Game instead of Kitaniji working from the shadows until the third week, and I liked that. Plus, all the final day stuff combined with the epilogue actually made me care a little bit for the guy. I didn't care at all for Kitaniji despite what the secret reports said about him. As far as everyone else, they were just fun to have on screen whenever they showed up, and they always advanced the overall plot a bit each time too.

    • @thebigchungus4515
      @thebigchungus4515 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      See it’s funny that you say that because I say that this game actually does better job at fleshing out characters than the OG game ever did.
      Take Shiki for example: she doesn’t get nearly as much time devoted to her development and gets shafted after the first week. She only becomes relevant as Neku’s motivation/entry fee and as a part of the Kitaniji fights while being brainwashed. Her relationship with Neku feels rushed since she only really has one day for her arc to get expanded on, elaborated on, and resolved, which, in my opinion, ends up hurting her immensely.
      By contrast, Shoka is arguably a much better constructed and engaging heroine with far more screentime. As much as she hides her true personality in sarcastic quips and insults, at her core she is a kind and compassionate girl that was forced to develop the mean girl front because of her job as a Reaper (which is established to involve dehumanizing Players at least on some level because it would be hard to erase them otherwise). You can see this conflict much more clearly in week 2 when you experience it again: she is very clearly conflicted about putting her best friend and his friends through horrific and pointless trials, and is conflicted that her "family" is the one doing so. Every time the Wicked Twisters tell her what an awful person she is because she's a Reaper (even though she's trying to help them covertly) it makes her question her own position as a Reaper and whether it's really right for her. Week 3 Day 2 is one of my faves because of how grounded it all is. It’s Rindo helping Shoka come to terms with having to kill Ayano, whose relationship with Shoka is something Rindo knows nothing about. Because that's what it's like to help your friends. You won’t know everything about them but you’ll still try your best to help them out. All Rindo can do as Shoka’s friend is listen to what she says about their relationship, and use that information to figure out what the best thing to say to help her move on is.
      Neku’s relationship with Joshua also felt rushed too. I see the parallel they’re going with in regard to how Neku treated Shiki at first when he accused her of being a spy as opposed to his reaction to Joshua’s various machinations but the execution leaves a bit to be desired, particularly in how Neku actually spends of the majority of Week 2 being distrustful of Joshua and only really putting up with him for Shiki’s sake, only for him to start regretting his actions when Joshua seemingly sacrifices himself for his own sake. But then Neku gets validated in the end when, yes, Joshua did turn out to be the one who killed him and was using him the whole time. Neku talks about how he felt that Joshua was the one guy he felt he can relate to but I genuinely never felt that throughout my time of the game, with his feelings over Joshua throughout Week 3 being primarily fueled by survivor’s guilt. Really, Neku and Beat had the strongest relationship progression by far due to how it’s been built up throughout the three weeks. By contrast, the relationships in NEO felt natural without the devs needing to beat you over the head with their dynamics. Nagi's character development is told through this with how she treats the Twisters as the weeks go on. Distant and professional for the first week, aware of and coignant of the personal issues/tensions in the second week but not directly putting herself in it, and finally, going out of her way to emotionally support the others by the third week. Rindo and Fret's dynamic is another major one. Passive aggressive but still friendly on the surface due to familiarity on the first week, strained and outright agressive on the second week because of the recognition of the game's stakes, then more resolved and understanding in the third week, culminating in Rindo actually respecting Fret's interests in the epilogue and encouraging him.
      I’m also curious on why you think the best parts of the game involve the old cast because for me, most of the best parts revolve around the new characters. Rindo helping Shoka learn to cope with the Ayano thing, Nagi helping the team learn to move on from their past failures on Week 3 Day 5, Fret risking everything to save Kanon but ultimately being too late while still being able to let her die as herself at least, Shoka betraying the Shinjuku Reapers for the city she’s come to love, Rindo giving Motoi a second chance and recognizing him as a flawed human being, Nagi and Fret reconciling their differences and becoming friends, Rindo’s final decision and more.
      Overall, I feel like a lot of OG TWEWY fans are looking at the first game with rose-tinted glasses when NEO arguably does a better job than it in some regards (and vice-versa for OG TWEWY, particularly in pacing)

    • @Veezora
      @Veezora 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      While I do agree that some of the pacing and character development is off, Hishima for instance being central to Shiba's plot line and not even being mentioned until Week 3, one thing I read and do agree with is that it's okay that Nagi didn't change much as a character.
      Not every character requires a huge personal growth throughout the story, and Nagi is presented as, although somewhat eccentric, being older and a bit more sure of herself and her ideals. She adapts well to working in a team for the Game, presents input when she believes others will benefit from her insight, but doesn't try to wrest the reigns from the other characters. Her main foible is her interactions with Fret, which is due to her seeing him as insincere, which is then explained, lending depth to her motivations, and, along with Kanon's insight, facilitating his personal change. In essence, Nagi is a fully-realized character already, without significant character flaws, there to provide stability to the dynamic, and help facilitate the personal growth of other characters in the story.
