    I have a 1966 13 ft whaler ans I did some measurements and found if I get 3 sheets is 3/4 53x24 starboard I’ll have enough to do 2 boat seats , the rails that the seats fit into plus the front storage locker. May just do this soon. Considering mahogany is way more expensive and harder to maintain

    I'm making a table top. This material is a little slick. What can I do to rough it up to give it more of a non slip surface?

    Is the material a load bearing material like for a bow pulpit? Or use under an anchor roller for support?

    • @BoatOutfitters
      @BoatOutfitters  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there Steve, when it comes to King Starboard, the material is not load-bearing and would require additional stability. Without additional support, even thick starboard would flex/warp under the weight of the anchor or people walking on it over time. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask or reach out to us at (866)-633-7961! :)

    Can you cut this with jig saw or circular saw? Also, can you round the edges using a router or a power sander?

    • @BoatOutfitters
      @BoatOutfitters  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there Adana, King Starboard can be cut with a variety of blades!
      If you are cutting long straight cuts, we recommend using a circular saw or table saw. Use a sharp carbide blade with a high tooth count (min 60 teeth for 10", 40-teeth for 7.5").
      If you are cutting smaller, more detailed cuts, then a jig saw or band saw is recommended. With these, use a multi-purpose blade with a high tooth count (min 24 TPI).
      As for rounding or finishing the edges, you most certainly can use a router! This will give you the cleanest finish. You can also use an orbital sander, however, the grit from the sandpaper can produce small grooves and stroke marks. If you do go with a sander, it is recommended to use 100-150 grit paper...the smaller the better. Also important to note, it is NOT recommended to sand the SURFACE of starboard as it will leave non-uniform texture and you can visually see the strokes.
      If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask! :)

    Would starboard work for a jon boat transom?

      Hey Jeff, it may work for very low HP, but we recommend using Coosa board! :)

      I'm just stating renovating my 20 ft yacht and dollar for dollar, this stuff is brilliant. It can be a bit harder to obtain in New Zealand but I've already fashioned cupboards and a bulkhead,,easy to work, no grain to worry about and smooth as'
