This song brings back memories of sitting in my sisters car. She’d be playing it through pioneer 6x9s while we’d be driving to the mall to go hang out. The 80s was peak civilization in my opinion.

Holiday by Madonna is one of the most iconic and definitive dance pop songs of the '80's.
    Terrific!

Her debut album was a great encapsulation of post disco. The sound selection of it was pretty much perfect.

Fantastic Anthony! Always been a fan of the "sounds" of early Madonna albums. There was that Italio-Disco-Georgio Moroder vibe to them, especially on 'Holiday', 'Into the Groove', etc.

Squeezed into the back of my friend Casey’s mom’s CRX with Madonna on the FM radio. Casey’s mom was a hairstylist, smelled like Paul Mitchell shampoo, and had a spiky, sexy Susan Powder type haircut. Zipping along in the car with Madonna’s fresh sounds…growing up in the 80s was good.

It always amazes me how subtle adjustments can radically alter the timbre! But, the best part is how the tones are sculpted to fit the track... paying special attention to the tempo. The synth bass in this song is a hook all by itself!😊

    I AM SO HAPPY.
i am using my huge vintage synth collection mainly to do live cover of songs that i love and always trying to use the same synths/ samplers and sounds/presets used on the original recordings.
Thanks a lot for all what you have brought to the synth community since the very first day. You are the only pro guy , who has worked on legendary albums to do that . Sadly so many sounds programming secrets , synth sound used on famous songs from so many bands will be lost when these people will not be alive anymore so what you are doing is priceless.
If ypu could give some synth tutorials concerning New Order , Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys , TOTO , Van Halen would be even more amazing. But i am so glad for all the secrets revealed from Thriller to Holidays…. Super kind regards from France . Philippe

People focus a lot on synthesis as a tool for taking their music to the next level, but it's usually the music that elevates synthesis, and I think this video shows that. It's such a simple sound that basically any synth can accomplish, yet the part is so catchy thanks to the performance of the player and the song around it.

I love your channel. The bassline is so iconic. The bass sounds were so massive at the time, felt like there could never be more bass. And while in pure loudness there may be more powerful synthbass around today the juicyness of the sound even with zero resonance is just aweome. Something in the Mini that is just so 'eargasm'.....Also by you having worked with Michael and being around there that time this somehow makes the music even so much more relatable to me. At that time I was just a kid trying to be as cool as I could to the music..lol, but now knowing all the stuff and having a Mini my own the video feels like you opening a timewarp just with a clear view - the old videos alone cant provide. Thank you 🙏

I have to try it out yet, but I think this tone could be made very close on the Minitaur as well. 2 osc, saw and square.
Wrapping my head around the envelope on that is always a struggle for me. This is a great little lesson on that, and the 'flavor' adjusting the sustain voltages can bring.
