Comedian Jon Stewart sat in the host's chair of his satirical news show for the last time this past week. He talked about his nearly two-decade run, and some of his most memorable interviews, with former colleague Mo Rocca.
I work at a supermarket near his home. John and his wife come in frequently. They are both lovely people . Kind to the staff, friendly. Unlike some other recognized folks that walk in ....
Jon would be perfect as the next host of the daily show.

I'm glad he left. He worked tirelessly at that show, and you could see how much it aged him. He deserves a nice reprisal from that life. Good luck Jon, thanks for the many years of laughs.

He was just sick of bullshit. Nobody should have to comment on American and World idiocy for that long. Trevor Noah, Larry Wilmore, John Oliver, Sam Bee (even though she's been around forever) are less tired. They can handle it.

Of course he had a writing staff. No one guy can do all the necessary tasks required to stay up to speed on all the current events of the day AND organize and manage a production like the Daily Show. Not only that, to stay relevant, you need a sounding board of other people you trust to give honest insight in to what you're going to present.
But to insinuate that he was just some production company puppet parroting anything plopped down in front of him is a gross mischaracterization.
Thanks for the memories Jon. You were a voice of reason and sanity in a world of media that left the truth behind a long time ago.

The "beta" most likely has it's roots in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World where people are bred into a social hierarchy based on the Greek alphabet (alphas are the strongest and smartest and get the best women, drugs, vacations, etc. while betas are more average to keep them docile, and lower classes than them are practically brain dead). The first time I heard Rocca say about Stewart, ..."his wife of 14 years and their 2 children.", I was only half-listening, and thought I heard it the other way around. When I played that part over again to confirm that I mis-heard it, I wondered, laughing at myself, how could I have even considered that possibility. LOL!!!

I don't think Stewart is one of those who can stay away from this type of show for too long. I think what's happening is he noticed that his home life was being put on constant hold to do the show...and probably heard some guff from his wife, too...and decided, you know what? I've had a really long run on this show. I've done a lot and created something that I can now pass on to someone else. But he's 52, not 82, and I know he's still got a lot to say, so whenever the right opportunity for him comes along, maybe a few years down the line once he's had a chance to get away from the limelight for a while, maybe he'll jump back into our lives when we least expect it. I, for one, can't wait for that day to come. :)

Hell. I'm going to miss hearing the truth about all the things our politicians love to lie about. You can't go to the news for the truth any more... that ship has sailed. Stewart was one of the few folks who exposed the political hypocrisy and BS, which is why a lot of folks can't stand him. But I thought his take on things was wonderful.

I remember being in the Strand bookstore. Found a list of ten bookstores in NY. I was there to check out working there. I was looking at a Marilyn Monroe photo book. I wanted to live in NYC. That was sabotaged. As well as Nypl. You spoke to me tellung me to come back to NY. I tried. My life was spun into the Twilight zone by several men who kept distracting me from my goals. Look how i ended up. This business of insinuating yourself in disguise was done by several men one when i was at a phito exhibit. A supposed guard kept intefering. He left in a limosine and dropped a bouquet of flowers on the pavement in the rain. Why dont Jewish men want me to have fun. ?
