    Love your videos! I was hoping to see you talk about what kind of shoes/boots to bring. I'll be there in the winter and spring, but I'm unsure how navigating snowy/slippery roads will be

      Will you be in Hokkaido? It snows a lot in Sapporo. In Otaru the side walks get very slippery and icy. Waterproof insulated snow boots are best. I wore Ugg boots that I bought at the outlet in Sapporo, since I didn't have real snow boots. I bought ice spikes that easily attach to boots. 🌸 Heidi

      @KenshoQuest Hi! Yes, I will be visiting Hokkaido to take advantage of the winter snow but my lodging will be in Tokyo so I'll be doing lots of small trips. This is very helpful, thank you so much!

      You’re welcome! I did end up also packing a pair of waterproof/insulated snow pants, which I was glad to have. I wore them over wool leggings when it was especially cold or windy. 🌸 Heidi

    What are your clothing essentials for winter trips? ❄Do you pack Merino wool clothing? 🌸✈Heidi

      I discovered merino wool clothing in fall of 2019. Not long after that, I stumbled upon your TH-cam channel and learned how to layer up merino wool clothing and maintain a minimalist wardrobe. Your channel is the only one I go to for real life examples of the benefits of merino wool and how to pack lightly. For the first time, I will be testing out my merino wool layers on a trip from Canada to Southeast Asia (with a side trip to Japan) this month. Upon my return, I will be relying on my merino wool layers as I experience my first dry cold winter days in the Canadian Prairies. I’m still carefully shopping for the right packing cubes. For now, I’m using heavy duty freezer Ziplock bags and they seem to hold up fine for domestic travels.

    Sadly, being a plus-sized woman, not many websites have clothing in my size. Truly Charis does (yay!) but I can't order anything and have it delivered before our November trip to Tokyo/Kyoto (sob!) We wear wool for hiking, but I never thought about it for traveling.

      Bummer you don't have time to get something for your trip. Another great small shop for custom made wool clothing is Humbird humbirdwool.com/. Both of these do have a longer turn around time than ready-made clothing.
      Have a wonderful time in Tokyo and Kyoto!

    Love the colour palette! Love those silver boots even more 😊 Where did you get them? Heading to Aomori (from Malaysia!) in December and have been looking for winter boots.

      Hi from Malaysia! I got the UGG boots at the outlet in Sapporo, Japan. Maybe try to see if any stores sell UGG in Malaysia. I’m not sure if there are!

      Yes, it's by Humbird Wool. I think their website is down for the month of December, but should be back in January with even more offerings. 🌺 Heidi

    What kind of clothes are required during autumn end of Oct to early Nov?

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. When we were in Tokyo at the end of October, that's when it really started to cool down. You might expect temperatures around 13 (low) to 22 (high) Celsius. In November it might range around 9-19 Celsius. We are from the tropics, so this feels cold to us! We would wear long pants or leggings, a hoodie sweater, and maybe a light jacket. The weather varies, depending if you go north or south of Tokyo. 🌺 Heidi
