    "thoughts are like anything else in nature; they grow of themselves... one thought at a time." I don't know why but when I heard you say this, it was like something finally 'clicked'. Thank you for this!

    Mindless meditation is a useful tool to help us sometimes. Not recommended when driving, working , or any other task requiring sequential thought patterns.

    Be one with life by staying with the divine beauty of existence. To exerience all of existence fully and totally in all of its forms is the meaning of life confirmed by the bliss and extacy that is present when u do so.
    Awesome explanations. Keep it up!

    Thoughts can get out of control, similar to riding a spooked runaway horse. Thanks so much for your videos. I've been studying Taoisim for a few years now, but it's a continuing education that requires reminders of staying on the path. I have learned a lot from your videos. I feel this learning process is going to be life long, but it's worth it.

    I think this is the clearest explanation of the Ego I have ever heard.I am also a lapsed meditator of Soto Zen which has encouraged me to return to daily meditation.However where would embracing any suffering that came up within me fit in? And also the Bodisatva aspect I.E compassion..I think if I was lucky enough to be enlightenefd I would wish to return to help the others.You have explained lots of things so well that I ask these questions and also wouldn't we have accumulated conditioning etc from past lives? 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤

    Great video. It clarified some of my own insights through meditation. I wonder if there is a corruption (i.e., misunderstanding) of eastern thought when I hear the expression “don’t think, feel.” We seem to have an over emphasis on personal feelings as a valid reality over objective reasoning. My belief is that we need objective reasoning in the material “dualistic” world, but that the non-dwelling mind is for seeing beyond the material impermanent “reality.” I hope this makes sense.

      Great to hear from you Noah. Funny you mentioned that, I have been thinking about that for a long time. But for whatever reason I haven't created it yet. I guess because there is so much to talk about when we talk about Alan. I'm not sure how a video could encapsulate the genius that he was. But I will try one day my friend.

    Spoken words are sounds occasioned by the vibration of thoughts. Thoughts are vibrations sent forth by the ego or by the soul." Quote from Paramahansa Yogananda. Only enlightened saints are completely ego-less.

    Hello
    I understand that in situation like meditation thoughts arise from the mind
    In a situation of thinking like working, are the thoughts arises the same way from the same source. And what part does the ego play in that situation
    Thank you

    I can find no reference to 'unsupported thought' online. Thoughts anyone? Unsupported or not.

    • @JasonGregoryAuthor
      @JasonGregoryAuthor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Look into Madhyamika and Yogacara schools, Tibetan and Zen Buddhism, the work of numerous teachers and scholars, such as Yamada Koun Roshi, Robert Aitken, David Loy, etc. All the information is there, but you have to read the actual texts and also learn from the differing schools directly. The terminology may differ, but they are referring to an unsupported thought if we are using English. Most of this deeper material won't be on websites. This is why we actually have to read the texts. I know people don't want to read anything lengthy, but the reward is rich. As for a great beginning place I would say start with Nagarjuna's teachings and then go from there. Thank you Net.
