This is totally awesome. I spent forever trying to find someone who had figured this out. It's a use case that should definitely be solved with expressions versus duplicating and manual animating ... Great workflow...very impressed.
THIS IS GOLD! Thank you for explaining it so well, I had watch another tutorial using slider I got the gist of it after a few hours of rewatching to figure out what does it really do. This is so easy to understand
4:54 you don't have to memorize angles. It's just 360 divided by [the number of objects] You can literally just type 360/3 into After effects for three objects and it will figure out 120 for you.
Thank you so much for creating tutorials like this, I see this effect in MV's all the time - there's a few days till my deadline so thanks for the clutch!
Hi Jordy. Awesome tutorial. But I can't figure out how you do the linear repetition. I tried using Position as you said, and I can't it to work. Can you make a tutorial for doing it that way? Thanks very much in advance.
I have watched this video 5x and still find it challening. Will keep watching. Thank you so much!!! Question: If one isn't using a png or a 3d image, would it be best to use a repeater instead? Just trying to get an understanding of when its best to use this method...
I kinda wished there was a way to repeat comps without actually duplicating them. But this is amazing as it is. I can use this technique. Thanks, Jordan.
I ran into a huge problem during this. The effect I was going for was a straight line of repeated images. But whenever I attach the composition to the Slider control it only moves diagonally...
I actually found a solution, you have to click on position, and put separate dimension, then use either the x or y position and drag it to the slider controller.
Hi. I'm using AE 2023. The expression is not working correctly for Position (it adds a "temp" condition and only moves diagonally, not left-right or up-down). What is the expression fix for this so that it moves the direction I need: left-right? UPDATE: I changed the 2nd "temp" [temp, temp] to "0" [temp, 0] and that seems to have did the trick
i follow this tutorial and it's work. but I have the problem when I wanna close the animation movement without "mirror" movement like they open the cup.
Insane to me that Adobe hasn't added this as a basic effect by now. Illustrator has this same effect under a simple "Copies: N" checkbox in their Transform effect panel.
Afther you adjust the amount and the position... lets use for example the position in 5:26 with 6 mugs, how can you now rotate all in group like a fortune wheel?
Going with the position parameter: why does *index lock my anchor point to the top right of my composition? The slider only duplicates from the top left.
This was wonderful. Now I'm trying to get a whole bunch of Angry Piggy heads to bounce out of an explosion in different directions and speeds, but using a single layer of the Angry Piggy PNG. Is this doable following this tutorial? (I skip a lot cos... impatient... so that may already be answered while I was thinking of something viral to comment here). That said FABBLE! And THANK YOU!
can i do this with Vectors or png instead of videos? and maybe the repeater tool? (i've been able to do it only with shapes made directly in after effects
Thank you for this! Amazingly helpful, but I was wondering how to space apart the images? If I want 30 images in a circle but to control the space inbetween is there a way to do that?
Hi, m using this MA for my videos, unfortunately, I can't found the videos m looking for. like some emotion I need to show in my videos but that type of thing is not recorded in MA. can you help me with this.
bro plz upload this project file because we can practice same project but it is not tutorials you folding map tutorials you say this projectile link in bellow but it is not commented bellow can you this for next tutorials in future ?
Still seems weird that AE doesn't have an equivalent of Motion's Replicator - essentially a Repeater on steroids, which works on any layer or object in a project.

You're so correct! 😄 and good explanation. I should have included that option in the video
Thank you for the tutorial. I think these basic things should be easier in AE. So complicated and many steps to create such a simple animation.
You're very welcome! I totally agree, it would be so cool if there was a more intuitive way! 😄🙏
Really like the way you explain it! Very clear, thanks!
Crop Comp to Region of Interest was worth the like button all on its own. Great shortcut!

you need to separate dimenions in position
@@АртемКривченков-и8э Yeah I'm struggling with that too how do you make it so only the x or y position is affected
AAAAKKKKKKKK I WILL USE THIS trick for any composition repeater. Thank you, you are a alife saver!

That’s a really cool effect, probably going to be a lifesaver
Nice! So glad to hear Jack! Cheers!

Hello, This is exactly what I needed, have you found it?
suuuuuper helpful thank you!! always forgetting how powerful the index function is
this was exactly what I needed to do !!!!! thanks Much!
You're Welcome Jane! 😄 Glad I could help!
Simply brilliant. I've been looking for this for years...... Thank you.

@@madrowert2675 Hey, im new in this, how i can do that?
@@metapop4122 right click on position and chose separate dimension :)
Who Knew? Now we will. Love this!
Sweet! So glad it could be useful!
thank u so muchㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜ you helped me alot!!!!!!!!!!
So happy to hear! 😄🙏
Nice! Any tips on randomising placement and scale, for a less orderly, more chaotic composition, eg snowflakes? Thanks, great tutorial.
love it u saved my life
To get even rotation for any amount of clones just take 360/number of clones.

Great stuff!
Thank you for the knowledge!
Just the kind of stuff I need! Thanks :)
Thank you, really good
Thanks for the Tutorial, it's really a great effect.

Great tutorial, Thank you!
This is amazing thank you! Do you have any tips on how to use this technique to repeat objects on a spiral path, as opposed to a circle?
Thanks Dizzy! Great suggestion! I don't actually but that's a great idea to look into, I'll do some research 😄
@@MotionArrayTutorials Thank you!!!
groovy tutorial. love this effect

Amazing ✨
It doesn't work with position properly following what you said. Something is off.

Add a repeater if its a shape
Really hoping for a reply from anyone here.
Great video! But my object rotates so many times until the duplicates are fan out. How to i fix this?
thank you so much !

Adding a mask around the edges to give some space between the elements doesn't seem to work.. any pointers? 🤔🤔
Lifesaver

Awesome.
Hey! What do you use to record your screen? I want to make a quick tutorial but I can’t find any good programs 😂
OBS?
A final template to work with ?? :D
Still seems weird that AE doesn't have an equivalent of Motion's Replicator - essentially a Repeater on steroids, which works on any layer or object in a project.
the point is to not make more duplicates of the precomp
anyone know how did he do the background like in the video
Super
Thanks!
good guy
cool

The adding of the second slider is unnecessary and bad. You should just multiply the first one by (index - 2) instead of index
shitttttttttt this is porn thanks a lots. amazing work
Haha 😂 thanks so much! Glad you liked it!
so complicated
Sadly yes, but satisfying once you've got it to work 😄
*SUP*
Sup!
waaaaaaay to lenghty and simplified.
make a 4min version for normal designers, most of us already know what anchor point is
Some however don't!
Way too much math and script code!
this is helpful, thank you
