Slurrykat systems are excellent, here comes the BUT, for what it would cost you to buy a complete system it would pay a contractor with a system to come a fair number of times and spread your slurry, he would have a tractor fitted with LGP tyres on the dribble bar, you need a calf house first
Contractor can probably afford better things as well for example farmer Phil has coverage mapping for his umbilical system so he can give data to his customers.
@timwithers2027 not the easiest thing for an inexperienced operator to get to grips with, but when he ties the pipe in knots a few times he will learn fast lol
Hi Tom just wanted to mention about gates we were in the same position as your for an electric gate. We bought a weaving gate in 2020 and it is one of the worst purchases since, its made from aluminium so in wind it can bend upwards of 2-3ft and cancel the censor,(therefor the gate wont shut) and the electrics arent much better. Our next 1 is actually coming from Uk farm gates which you met at lamma. There a lot better quality. Hope you read this and avoid making the same mistake.
A few contractors around my area are using dribble bars fed from old road haulage tankers, having a compressor/suction pump fitted to hold 23000 Ltrs then drawing them with tractors to the fields, connecting up and away you go
Hi Tom, happy to shake you hand at lamma apologies i didn't realise at the time you was recording. Love your content been following your story for years.
103rd! Happy HUMPDAY Tom,Luke, Hiedie, Anna,, and the ginger warrior with a mustache, along with the rest of the crew on the farm. A person could spend loads of money at one of these shows, but it will improve the efficiency which means saving time, you never have enough time when it comes to a farm. Roger in Pierre South Dakota USA
Epic video Tom (and I don't mean the length). I could tell by the body language that you, the Ginger Warrior (Bet he wished he'd remembered his walking stick) and Keiron all had a great time and you came away with lots of ideas. A combined force is an unstoppable force and working together you and Kieron are fast proving that with the sage advice of both fathers of course. The old saying "You need to walk before you can run" is true but you two have reached the stage where you are now jogging, it won't be long before you break into a sprint. 😉👍.
For what your gonna pay for new equipment in the long run it would be cheaper just have contractors in and I'd build a bigger slurry storage like a massive lagoon would save some such time on having to empty as much
Hi Tom, is there any way that you are able to use a clip on mic, for when you are explaining something? It's just that with the noise around you and you turn your head away to look at what you are talking about, the volume of your voice dips significantly and I find a lot of what you say is lost. Loved watching you all and the show. It's incredible to see the size of the pieces of farming equipment. Especially when 'the ginger guy with the Moo🐄🐄's tache' was stood next to the tractor tyre! 😁
Have a pivot and great machine for livestock farm. Lacks the reach but otherwise great especially for visibility. I'd certainly try one though must admit the dieci one looked a big numb machine for 3.5ton lift but thats personal opinion.
Tom a friend of mine who I used to work for aswell has an umbilical system for the land at home probably only have 100 acres at home tops milks about 250/300 cows then land for grazing an silage all over. Umbilical works well he invested in a brand new pump and brand new dribble bar for it an second hand reelers an pipes an you can get so much more done in a day compared to a tanker I just used to sit there on tick over all day spreading away happy as Larry 🤣. Definitely a worth while investment it’s not cheap but when you factor in you can go whenever an if need to leave some of the pipes reeled out in winter whatever so you can just hook up an go on a dry day it makes so much sense. You could also use it over the road to shift the beef slurry so it would work well in my opinion. Also on another note I went college with the lad you were talking to about his farm park an brushes same course for 2 years hell of a lad 👌🤣
Tom you missed a great chance there you should have spoken with Father Phil about your slurry outfit he could probably give you some great advice about it
For the slurry pipeline and equipment, Tabulate up how much it is like you said. Compare that with bringing in a contractor and seeing there bill, just try them once and you could speak to them about thier equipment.
IMO with drones the recharging doesn't matter as long as it's automated and fast, or can swap its own batteries - that's the key. Automated charging, refilling and let it go do its thing then who really cares how often it needs to do it? I'd expect DJI to get it all figured out eventually, they have a lot of experience with drone docks and umbilicals..
It would not make sense with an umbilical slurrysystem for you guys, you dont have enough gallons to spread on the farm. It would be much cheaper to get the contractor in once or twice a year, and then invest in some of the other projects, like the calfbuilding.
You don't need a new reeler, and might get away with used pipe. Old road compressor like the type used on construction sites are cheaper, and there's no need for a new spreader, find a decent used splash plate to start then work from there@@TomPembertonFarmLife
My opinion is 1st try and get a demo from umbilical manufacture, sometimes they have they were using for their own testing IF that fails see if you can hire a umbilical from a contractor/agri hire company like your muck spreader 🤷🏻♂️ because I assume you know cost of contractor to do it! But the main objectives is to find out the labour that goes into spreading all of yer farms with a piped system AS it a lot of setting up especially with no experience in it 🤔🤔🤔🇮🇪🇮🇪
It's easy enough, it's literally just diagonal across longest point, up and down one side, loop round and do the other side. His fields are all pretty much free of stuff in the middle of fields
Is it possible to have a large slurry tank that you take to the field, then run the umbilical and dribble bar off it, so you're not dragging the heavy tank over the ground, giving much less soil compaction ? ( I'm concerned about the worms ) 🤔 Calf barn more urgent though !
Takes a long time that way. You end up spreading 1 field compared to about 2 if the tanker was used direct onto the field. Still need 2 people, and the tanker needs an extra pump like the ones used for rainguns. It works in a pinch but it's definitely a last resort
If a wer you stay as far from a pipe system unless you are a very gud operator you can get yourself in some very big handlins. And it will happen in the worst places
Ì know the grant money makes umbilical look cheaper .Just don't think you would get on with the hastle of the pipe and getting covered in shit. Spend your money on calf shed.
Great video Tom great to see new equipment. You want to check out large tires look Cole the corn star and see the tires they put on their one tractor to cut down on compaction and look at Millennial Farmer he had a company come in and do some spraying with drones because the ground was to wet to drive on.
Have you ever worked cattle through system before to actually base that on or have the free or very cheap ones given to TH-camrs been your only idea of that
That Irish guy from slurry kat is a classic rc priest. Not to ever be trusted any further than you could throw him. …..Tom, go and learn all about body language before you end up costing yourself and your family farm a heck of a lot of money, with nothing of any real value to show for it. …. Sometimes you got to look past the product and focus far more on those trying to sell the product to you…. Simple oldie worldie logic Tom…. Tread carefully around salespeople like the rc priest wannabee…
Oh dear. You mean the man who started in his garage and built the company from nothing? You mean the personal friend of mine who you know absolutely nothing about? Have you visited his factory? Go back in your cave, eejit. If you think you know anything about body language you’re sorely deluded.
There's a difference between buying farm equipment and what wages they take home. Like all self employed people they have to invest in their business, but I bet few of them actually get wages that reflect the many unsocial cold lonely worried filled hours they put into their job.
Yeah, most don't have TH-cam to prop everything up. It's also like a trucker buying a new truck. Yeah, it's expensive but he can't do his job without one
Slurrykat systems are excellent, here comes the BUT, for what it would cost you to buy a complete system it would pay a contractor with a system to come a fair number of times and spread your slurry, he would have a tractor fitted with LGP tyres on the dribble bar, you need a calf house first
Oooh Controversial top tip..... AND top bursting to buy it and get going 😂😂
Let the contractor buy equipment!
Contractor can probably afford better things as well for example farmer Phil has coverage mapping for his umbilical system so he can give data to his customers.
But if you have a good day in the weather and to contractor can’t get there for 3 days having your own is handy
@timwithers2027 not the easiest thing for an inexperienced operator to get to grips with, but when he ties the pipe in knots a few times he will learn fast lol

Looking at the Wareing segment, it would be interesting to see how you(Tom) would have your farm set up if you had a blank canvas to start with.
Thanks for the tour around Lamma Tom, we have similar shows here in Minnesota USA.
I love the farm shows, checking out all the equipment. Great job.
Always enlightening, entertaining, and informative. Thank you all. Regards, Stephen.
Never mind the steps on the fastrac did you see the steps on the deutz fahr warrior 😮 like climbing a ladder onto the roof of your house

Don’t worry at all. Thank you fo saying hello 😊
Great job on helping others companies to succeed in their business ventures
*The Ginger Warrior and Father Phil conversation would have been great to eavesdrop on.*
Great video 👍. Took me 3 attempts to watch it due to the great content and amount of information 👍
Great to see your ginger dad with you again in an episode Tom.
I'm curious how well those slurry machines' internal plates will hold up with the sand (where farms use it) goong though long term. 🤔

Great video Tom the first day was mad mind you it was quite when it first opened 👍👍
A lot of farms round me have the drop barriers that go into the ground, on track entrances and some yards with barns in
Lots of exciting kit you’re looking at. What’s coming to Pemberton land first?
Father Phil as well, what a nice guy :) He and your dad must have some stories to tell :)
Best of luck with everything ahead on the farm 👍👍👍🚜
I'm partial to New Holland because I live just down the road from them. It makes me happy to see them on the other side of the Atlantic.
They’re big over here, my local contractors have a fleet of 10 New Hollands.

The Can-Am is going to look wild with the new tires. You can probably float it down a canal with those on.

🇺🇸🙏🇬🇧 I pray that the PEMBERTON’s are doing well may God Bless All You Guys from TEXAS.
Love when a company prioritize sustainability and quality in their products! something the world has lost in the 00s.
Slurry Kat guy was so impressive, I don’t have a farm or tractor but really want a dribble bar system 🤦♂️🤣
cheers for the picture tom
Great video thanks Tom ❤❤❤
Maybe Gareth at Slurry Kat should have you demo it and give an honest review?
The Slurry Kat rep, certainly understands his system engineering and important talking points of his product.
@@gregedmand9939 that was the owner of Slurrykat
They also run a fairly large scale contracting business where all the products are well tested

Some lovely kit at show
I heard farmer p and your father had a good time walking around and chatting
Great vid that top not being farmer really enjoyed it
Buy a cheap jcb 2cx. It has the compressor and is a spare loader too
Love these vidoes
We have a weaving gate with key fob and mobile phone recognition very pleased
case vs New Holland, it is just another paint job. depends which colour your prefer ...
Are you ok?
Tom you missed a great chance there you should have spoken with Father Phil about your slurry outfit he could probably give you some great advice about it

34:03 knew exactly what that face you pulled was about
so have u bought slurry kat
6" Pipe on the end... rawr
Case & Holland did the same for the Canadian outdoor farm show on a much bigger scale

@@nielspedersen4496 they come in around 4-5 times a year and some times have to come the wrong time of the year. 🙈
Invest in bigger storage? And store untill it's at it maximum effect.
@ £250k 😂
Ok fair enough, calf building then , with additional storage underneath. And pump in ? Sorted😅 probably get a grant also.
You don't need a new reeler, and might get away with used pipe. Old road compressor like the type used on construction sites are cheaper, and there's no need for a new spreader, find a decent used splash plate to start then work from there@@TomPembertonFarmLife

U need a Kyle Martin engineering gate bass
Keep using Hoyles it will be cheaper in the long run
tom you need one of them brushes
