After watching this video I ordered 1 bunch of Sapelo and 1 bunch Vidora because I wanted to plant about 100 plants. Well I got 106 slips in the Sapelo bunch! Now I have to till another plot for the Vidora! No question that I got my money's worth from another Hoss order.
Thank you , Mr . Greg & Mrs. Sheila our 6 bundles just arrived , I was prepared , but need to order the ammonia sulfate from yall , Last harvest in 2021 we got over 335 beautiful onions from yall . This last December 2022 I had back surgery an caught SEPSIS so we didnt grow onions last season . So looking forward to getting them in the ground today , my husband is out there already preparing another area for the extras you always send . God bless you both & everyone at Hoss tools Merry Christmas season . Mr & mrs Douglas & Josette Tharp Montgomery County, Texas 🙏 ♥️
Thank you I needed that refresher. I’m getting my onions this week. This is my first year of living in a perfect world! My beds are ready for planting !
My Sapelos came in yesterday and in the ground today! Planted 6" on center with tubing emitters at 12". Plenty of extra to share with the family. Need to get them spread out. Thanks for the storage tip.
3 weeks ago I got back my soil sampl with perfict PH..... 1 week ago I added some compost.... yesterday I did my spacing and checked drip irrigation, and tomorow I get my 3 bundles of onions from Hoss.
I received mine on Friday, set them in a pitcher of water overnight (oops…) and then planted large raised beds yesterday. I was shocked about how many you shipped in the bundle. Just another reason Hoss is the best!
My friend had ordered some sofires. She dudnt have room for all of them so she gave me about 25 of them. I planted them today. They were some nice looking onions
Received my Hoss onion order late yesterday evening and putting them in the ground (well raised beds) today. Had great success with Vidora's last year, so planting another round of those this year, and trying the Sofire too. Looking forward to making some pickled onions with the Sofire's. Love this video, simple & direct, and gets us backyard gardeners exciting about planting. Have a blessed day! Zone 8 or maybe now Zone 9 (if changed) Panama City, Florida
I didn't realize those in bunches were the big bulbing type onions. I looked at them and though they were the bunching type that never get that big. I might put in a second order for the purple ones or a sweet variety.
Mr Hoss, I just received my onions yesterday Friday, i separated them, can i plant Sunday 11/26? Worried about the freeze coming Tuesday, i can cover with straw.
This is my second time watching this video going to order. I grew up in GA we never grew onions but I am learning to grow my own food. Can I plant some of the leftovers in large containers if so how many to a 20 gallon container. I looked at a video this morning and your plants are much larger than the other company I was looking at. I live in Zone 8A eastern nc. Correct time for planting right?
So onion bulbs go in around the same time as garlic and are basically treated the same? Another words, plant them, cover with straw and let them go dormant till spring when they'll do their thing? Now its getting to be december but frost hasn't set in yet. Is it too late?

Greg, I am shooting triple 20 through the drip tape for the first or four feeds on those onions and I’m wondering how long should I wait after I plant those starts before I give them a small feed?
