    I started watching this channel because I love to see the quality, care & love that goes into restoring muscle cars. Unfortunately there is far more drama than work being done. When it comes to work, we hear what needs to be done and for the most part we see the completed portion. People want to see what it took to correct a defect. This is most likely my last video. So sad, it could have been a stellar channel instead of the three stooges or keystone cops. Good luck.

    • @ojscustoms9251
      @ojscustoms9251 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It's a t.v. show. I do paint and body(boring stuff to watch)...if you want a tutorial there are plenty of channels here on youtube that do that. There has to be some entertainment for the people who aren't fully vested in just the mechanical aspect.

    • @Theupstateidiots
      @Theupstateidiots ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ojscustoms9251 I think part of the problem is some of us who restore/build cars in our free time don't do enough repetition to be fluent but sometimes watching stuff helps keep us on track. For me it motivates me to spend that extra time in the shop. I'm an assistant chief at a volunteer fire department on top of my 40 hr a week job, it's hard for me to find extra time but putting stuff on in the background helps keep me on track because you get to see that final product. Just my thoughts. Some drama is okay, but when you've got stuff going like the "sabotaged" motor jobs that are most likely from sandblasting clumps falling into the engine and 50 other problems that lead to it, or even running a motor for a long time while it's knocking is not generally good looking on your business. Anywho that's my thoughts, and I do like their work. I'm a Ford guy but love seeing all old cars being saved.

    I own a 1958 Fury. I bought off an old man for $100 who had taken the engine and trans and put it his pickup. He wanted more power so going from a 318 to a 413 max wedge should have accomplished that. The Fury was remarkably straight and rust free so while the engine and trans was out, I repainted it in its original red and white. The engine and trans came from a neighbor down the road for $250 and was a 1959 392 Hemi from a New Yorker, and a 4-speed dana trans. The engine and trans went in like it was made for it, no problems, no hassles. When the battery went in, the key was on and the radio warmed up and the song that came from the speakers, Little Richards, "I hear you knockin, but you can't come in'. My wife heard that and said I'm out and went in the house. I've been driving the old girl for ten years now and she runs and drives better than new. The wife and I take her to all the cruise nights in the summer and she always turns heads and wins a trophy now and then.

    IF you're supposed to be the "Head" of the paint shop, then you're already obligated to be the QC man. In fact, I'd argue that every working human is their biggest QC person. Maybe it's time for a new painter who cares about what they do. At the same time, the workers rely on the boss to be a boss. The boss either has expectations or doesn't. Everyone appreciates quality when cost isn't the issue.

    For quality control: When a car is deemed almost ready to be returned to its owner, it should be 'all hands on deck' for quality control. Every set of eyes available combing every inch of the car three times (taking notes without fear of retribution) before it's allowed out the door. If you were a 'flunky' 'shade tree' body shop charging 25 - 30 grand for a complete ‘restoration’ it, of course, would be a different ballgame.

    Making the cars better than they were when they rolled off the assembly line. Some people expect these mass produced things intended for the common working man to have absolute perfection where there never was any.
    Been there, experienced this.
    Money don't buy perfection in a imperfect world. Impossible.
    Funny how the boss man there is trying to pass off QC duties on to people who are already overloaded with their primary job duties and are not really qualified to do that job. They all say they don't want it. They know they don't have that skill..nor do they want to be the fall guy if a " problem" is missed...Don't force it on them. It is not a " golden opportunity"..that's just passing the buck.
    QC needs to be the bossman's job. Even he don't want that responsibility.
    QC is done by someone who is nonbiased with a critical eye. A car show judge basically in this case.
    You can't ask a paint and body man to critique his own work..much less a parts department employee..She never wanted it .she reluctantly took it cause she folded under pressure to keep from being further pestered about it and to shut the boss up. Now the heat is on her if a problem comes up.
    Hire someone for that job. None of his employees have the required qualifications or skill set.
    Even the factory assembly lines had a QC guy at the end of the line to determine these things if it was allowed to roll out the door or be sent back in to address the issues.
    More than likely what happened with that coronet , the owner took it to a car show expecting to win and didn't , probably confronted the judges and was pointed out all these little " problem" areas that took points off the judging sheet. That's how tight judging cars can get at some shows..boils down to the littlest things...That's why it probably came back to the shop. Small cosmetic imperfections "discovered" after the fact.
    Ultimately , QC falls on the bossman if the work quality meets up to the requirements he asks of his employees . And also on the owner/ customer themselves if the work meets up to what they paid to have done..all determined at the time of pickup/ delivery of the finished job.
    That's where QC is decided on.
