Fun story, i backed the drivers ed impala into a pole...whoops. im obviously a much better driver now but im glad my accident happened at the start of my driving experience and not after i got my liscense because you really strive to drive well after that. On a seperate note, Its funny how many school parking lot accidents happen because of overconfident dumbasses and such
Its still a powerful car. The 3.6 liter is actually faster than 3.9 liter SS the 3.6 can do a 0-60 under 5.2 seconds. And its a family sedan. Not a sports car. But sadly my 3.5 liter impala is under 7 seconds. :( but it only has 211hp the 3.6 has 305 from the 2012 3.6 to the current impala. But the latest model with the 3.6 can do a 0-60 in 6.0 seconds. Faster than the Chrysler 300C and the C is the fastest version. It has 345 or around there. And it still beats it. Idk. I agree with you in terms with looks. But power. They seem like they have more power now.
insert name yah. I mean. I had a Chrysler 300 just the basic 2018 one. And I can do some burn outs in it. And I haven’t crashed that car doing burn outs in it. I drove out of a small parking space with a truck to my left. And a suv on my right. I drove out fast. And I whipped it a bit. And it did it like the stupid dodge commercials I was like OKAY LITTLE CHRYSLER. 😅😂I could try and do it in my 2011 impala. But it won’t work. I’ve tried.

I have a 16 LTZ limited and I truly feel the last few years of the 9th gen are under appreciated. They handle really well and with 300 horse on tap out of a 3.6L (many being flex fuel capable) I feel like this one will be the sleeper my future highschool age son deserves.
I have a 16 non limited lt and those make 340. They just stopped advertising it. That’s the issue
I have a 2017 Premier and it is a fun, fast car. The 6 speed auto keeps the engine in it's torque band and the ~310hp will smoke the tires nicely.

I was at a falafel shop once and the cashier had a '96 SS. He complimented my '05 Impala, and challenged me to a race. I saw his car parked, and declined. I got on the highway, and sure enough he pulled up, and took ALL THE WAY off. I couldn't catch up at all.
I'd gladly take a 96 SS today, as a secondary vehicle.

The 64 and 96 Impala is my favorite car of all time. Absolutely gorgeous rides. They just killed the game in the 60’s, 70’s, and 90’s with the impalas.

Dude I love my 2002 Impala so much. Wrecked it 2 years ago and got into my backyard mechanic bag with my dad and grandpa. No matter how much shade the 00-05 bodystyle catches, I love it.

Have a 2017 impala. It's a perfect car for me. Reliable, smooth, never gave me a problem (unless it's the usual oil change and the tire rotation and change). Its a wonderful car

Yeah.. I supposed it might have peeling paint like an Accord or blown head gaskets like a Legacy or rust like a Camry or failing electronics like a Passat or a blown transmission like an Accord etc etc etc.
The only issue remotely related to it are the stretched timing belt problems on the GM High Feature V6.. but they are mostly the earlier versions not the LFX.

My grandfather worked on the assembly line in a GM factory in the heart of Baltimore during the 60's and 70's. He saw a lot of fantastic cars like this in his day. I'm so proud of him and all his cool car stories
I have a 2019 Impala Midnight Edition and I absolutely love it. It's comfy, the sound system is great, it looks hot, not too common so I never get confused in a parking garage, and just a bunch of fun. It's cool to park it next to my Dad's '67. I wish Chevy had done more to promote it and show how cool it is. I never saw a single commercial or ad for it, except where it was seen as a cop car chasing another Chevy in an OnStar commercial after it was already announced to be discontinued.

The 2012 Impala has 300hp and 267ft/lbs of torque, so I mean that's still something better than most out there today.

My first car was a 77 Impala. Just a big box. I liked it so much, since then I've owned an Olds Delta 88, Buick Electra, Caprice Classic. All the same body style. And now I have a 96 Buick Roadmaster sedan. It's not as boxy, but it's the same size and it has the LT1 instead of the regular small blocks that my old ones had

Yup Yup not unless they moved production to the states. It’s a good idea though the SS, in my opinion, was the 4 door muscle car Chevrolet owners want but never knew about.

The reason they aren't on show room floors right now is because they were actually built in Australia, and the plant they were built at was being shut down, so they couldn't make them any more.

Henry I’m already knowing. I guess my point is if they marketed the SS/Commodore as a Monte Carlo or impala here in the states from the beginning, sales may have influenced GM enough to keep it around for a little longer than they did. At the end the of the day these companies make a good sized portion of decisions based off the demand of consumers. So if sales justified a demand for it, then maybe its lifespan, at the very least, would’ve been stretched a year or two. & that demand possibly could’ve been created by using one of those old names. It’s like GM didn’t even try. Missed opportunity for them in my book

My only counter-point to that is this: the whole point of a muscle car is low-buck car with massive power, which is what the GTO package was (high performance for the poverty pack Tempest). The Impala was the highest trim for full-size Chevys, and hardly affordable compared to a basic Biscayne, which didn’t have a 409 available.
My grandpa had a 1959, and a 1965 Impala. I wasn't old enough to drive the 59, but the 65 is the first car I ever drove, and it had the stones.

All the Impalas have a warm place in my heart, but the body style that sends me is the 1965. I know the '66 is very similar, but the 6 round, protruding taillights is the sweet spot to an already sleek design. I'd love to see a mid-'90s era Impala SS customized into a two-door, with dem 6 protruding taillights incorporated into the rear panel design. Front bucket seats with a floor shifter add additional flavor. If taller wheels were added, that'd be fine, as long as you kept that same SS design. Anybody feel me?

My best friend had an 08 Impala SS in high school. it was a retired unmarked cruiser with super high miles so he got rid of it after we graduated. He still regrets it, and I still regret not buying it from him lol. Still see it cruising around the area from time to time

Have a 2011 and I am actually quite happy with it. Yeah.... it’s a car.... just a car..... but it has a special place in my heart. 🤷🏻♂️

I have a 2011 too. I love my car. And I have to admit, for a 215 hp V6 engine it has a little bit of pop in it.

193K Miles but here I am still rocking it. Your oil change every 5K miles, recently got 4 new tires and am currently working on other additions to the car without killing the stock look too much.

That's great to hear! The W Body Impala has a great aftermarket so parts are out there so it won't be hard to give it your own look. :)

Heres a video game nerd fact for all you folks who actually played the Twisted Metal games, there's a character's car which is called Thumper and it's a Pink low rider themed Impala, it's been through changes but the looks of the car has always been based off the 60's impalas, Except for the 4th game in the series.

My dad had the 06 ss and tbh i loved that car. Switched between 8 cylinders and 4 so you got good gas milage but could also get up, maxed the gauge out lol. Car sounded good in idle for a 4 door sedan lol
