Really pleased with both R12 and what I've been seeing from the community in regards to new combi patches :) Thank you once again for making that tools that inspire so many of us to keep making music!
Absolutely stellar stream once again guys. Some great insights into the development process that answers a lot of those “why didn’t they just do that” questions. Even at 2hrs, a riveting watch all the way through. And definitely get more livestreams up, please. I know they take a lot to put together, but they’re super valuable for us users.
so glad to hear of the possibility of a comeback of the regular live streams. really missed those. they sort of became part of what made me “survive” 2020.
One really great thing I like about using combinators is while the midi remote focus is on the combi, the controls can work multiple devices within the combi. Now with more controls, its easier to make combi's to match midi hardware. A kind of combi template for your midi control surface then just add devices and program each control from within the rack instead of writing remote maps for each device and having to move midi focus to each device before having any midi remote control.
Step state selector is a great idea for the Combi2 for sure. An obvious improvement also would be able to copy/paste knobs and buttons. Also, it would be useful to be able to put a "label" on it to name a section of your interface.
I’ve seen a lot of reviews on reason 12 that are not very exciting but after watching this I can see how combi 2 is way more powerful than reviewers have considered. Can’t wait to see what people are making on reasontalk
Ryan, could you plan A session with some famous musicians using Reason in their compositions/ live shows... Playing/ Mixing/ Mastering anything! You do it really well man!
It is time to give NN-XT full control and momentary Combinator buttons to be used for articulation purposes. The Combinator could be the next Kontakt/Reaktor platform everybody want's to involve because it will be so easy to design a new full articulated instrument. Just give NN-XT the power it needs and you will be the next big Industry Standard for music creation.
@@DjSegwonmy opinion is that Halion is ugly, CPU voracious, at least difficult to use and in anyway part of an ecosystem like Combinator and Reason is.
Hi 👋, how do I get combinator 2? I just got Reason 12 and it only came with combinator 1. Thank you 🙏 sir, appreciate it. And I like your music intro, nice track.
Reason 12 comes with the new Combinator automatically. If you're still seeing the original Combinator then you're still launching an old version of Reason. /ryan
I would of liked Reason 12 to see more remote items be added, like from the browser panel and the sequencer toolbar in the document scope. This could be the key to better accessibility through third party hardware/software like the web app I'm currently working on to get speech feed back of remote items a little like the native instruments nks project.
Absolut Genius! Will there be support for animated .gif format for combinator images or context based hiding/showing of UI elements ( would solve the issue with random dials) ? This would also open the door for creating incredible UI/UX designs + including music visuals! Looking forward to next Reason stream!
I love Reason, and believe it to be, hands-down, the best looking, most cohesive sound-shaping DAW there is. That said, I generally use only the Reason Rack inside of Reaper these days, since Reaper is hands-down the most versatile DAW in terms of endless workflow possibilities, custom actions, etc. So the two together really work well in my world. ;) Lastly, I would really love it if Reason worked natively in Linux! That alone would unite SO many music makers. :)
Very Nice video as allways. I just have one question for Ryan or Mattias. How can i get midi directly out from Scaler 2.? I have to drag and drop and that is just not very great. Please help guys.
Build an amazing combinator patch and have a random program crash and loose hours of work because hey a combinator is more important then an auto save feature.
I'd like to see midi channel selection either as a player device or from within the combinator. Being able to root midi based on midi channel data is something currently missing in Reason. I believe it is also missing from the rack extension SDK. So the only way I know of separating midi rooting from channel data is via the Remote SDK using multiple codec/map files and then using device locking. If I am wrong and there are other ways to root midi within Reason using midi channel data, please let me know.
i do love the new combinator and turns out i can add it in to the mix channel but it sucks that i cant save my mix channel who has like lets say 3 combinators in it a combinator with in a combinator
How about an AUDIO combinator? Reason doesn’t have ‘folders’ for audio, which is a pain for busy, audio-heavy mixes. However there is an opportunity for reason to do its own take - with Reason style improvements: Audio combinators! Not a “catch up” with other DAWs but unique innovation and ways of working with audio not available elsewhere. In the same way most DAWs have plugins but don’t have the integrated workflow of Reason’s Rack, Audio Combinators could be the next step for audio tracks. PLEASE consider this, Reason Studios. Especially as the audio side has been neglected for the last few updates. It could go a long way for people to justify buying Reason as their only DAW, not just a plugin for another one.
Will this work on VST instruments. Started creating a Combinator with all the controls for my Spitfire audio VST instruments. Would be cool to be able to make use of all my articulations from the Combinator. never mind, I figured it out. Creating something simple, Started out with Spitfire Albion Strings, Created faders and knobs for all functions within the VST. Moving over to Spitfire BBC orchestra next. Thank you for the videos, This has opened my brain to the countless possibilities with using all my orchestral libraries.
It feels weird to hear bragging about introducing VST to Reason, when it's been FOURTEEN years since VST3 was introduced, and we still don't have VST3 in reason. Next we'll rear bragging about how we finally got the whale oil lamps installed in the Propellerheads museum and it's glorious.
I would really like to have Linux version. So much effort for M1, and no effort at all for Linux (even without support). It would be so great to have robust and non commercial OS.
@@macbrain4333 No, need. Linux is good, it's free, there are many flawors of the same linux so you allready have "dedicated" preconfigured audio distibution's. The changing of instruments thru velocity should have a build up. like the harder you play the more of the new instrument comes in. Totally unusable to have it come in at once

Please NEVER make an instrument like KLANG ever again. So many sounds are ruined by having "character" on some of the individual notes (individual multi-samples)... when your music has it's tonic on that note(sample), this just ruins KLANG.
get roland cloud to work in reason ,fix the audio editor and make reason work proper with all vsts , fix not being able to bounce 32 bit and mp3s.... you cant neglect these ... these problems should of been fixed years ago imo ... instead of focusing on new synths and the combinator .....

Combinator can become a universal midi controller and programmer for all the synths of the past. If only let us save the maps in the combi. patch.
