She's emotionally on an island that his boat just won't dock up to. She wants him to really give some of his energy to her, but he's giving what's left of him (intended), where he may "emotionally" have a very small reserve left over....hence, why he made a song literally explaining that point. It's his truth. He loves Vanessa, but it's because of who HE is, not who SHE is. He's got a big heart. I feel she has a big heart too, but her deepest passion lies in what SHE wants, not what he's willing to give. She's determined to pull it out of him, tho. The man just may need a break.

Jeezus you people re-watch newlyweds and watch objectively you will see how toxic he was with Jessica and he was constantly turned of by her and annoyed. He wasn't that into her! He was even very condescending towards her and would belittle her all the time. Anyways you can also tell especially towards season 3 that Jessica wasn't all that into Nick as well.
