I had my first cataract surgery three days ago, and the pre-op process took far longer than the surgery itself---which was only six minutes. I chose to have a propofol IV so that I could be alert much more readily after surgery, and I'm going to choose it again in November, when my other eye is done. Everything I've seen in 2022 states that the actual surgery takes only 5 to 6 minutes, so I don't understand the much longer 10 to 15 minutes in some of these older videos.

If your vision is supposedly going to stay the same, what's the point of having the surgery done at all? Why would any responsible eye surgeon offer to do it? The purpose of removing cataracts is to prevent the patient from going blind, which is why the lens is replaced during the surgery. I'd sure be looking for a different ophthalmic surgeon if the first one told me that my vision would be the same post operatively as prior to it!

A doctor told me 22 years ago, my vision will be the same after the cataract surgery. Any replays?
