Im glad you posted this video,it confirms my work that I did this on my 04 Honda Accord before watching this video using common sense in an emergency situation because I had a PCV valve messed up and the vacuum hose leaking. Went to Home Depot replaced everything now my engine sounds a lot better and oil is no longer burning oil

Will this hose melt with the extreme heat from the engine?

Will this tube make the jeep rum better? It looks like it has a larger airway.

Steve, we were trying to pull out the pcv valve on a 96 and that thing was tight. We didn't want to break it. Is there a certain way to pull it off? Are these threaded or something?

Hi Yahusap, Thanks for your question. Over the years, there were 3 or 4 different valve cover designs, and plastic elbow combinations, used on the 4.0L engine. For the PCV valve and breather connectors, some of them are in rubber grommets (relatively easy to remove, although the rubber may be hard and dry), some of them have a quarter-turn latch (no rubber grommet, just rotate 90-degrees and pull up to remove), and some of them are held in place with two plastic retaining tabs INSIDE the valve cover (these just spin and don't come out). I don't recommend trying to change the last type unless you plan to remove the valve cover (for example, when replacing a leaky gasket). If the plastic tabs break off, it will be hard to get them out otherwise. Instead, just blow through the valve backwards (by mouth with a plastic tube), and make sure it's not clogged, and it should be fine. The PCV valve in the 4.0L is not the rattle-ball type, it's just a fixed orifice. Finally, you could get a new one to compare, and see how it's held in. Anyway, hope this helps! And good luck with your Jeep!

Is this CA smog legal? I’m assuming yes? Don’t see why not :)

Is there any advantage to putting a plug on the air box and pcv filter on top of the valve cover?

Hi and Thanks for your Question. Plugging the PCV system is not a good idea. It removes blowby gasses from the crankcase. Here's what it says in the service manual:
PURPOSE: The Crankcase Ventilation (CCV) system is used to prevent sludge build up in the crankcase and prevent hydrocarbon emissions from escaping to the atmosphere.
CONSTRUCTION: The system consists of a fitting in the intake manifold connected to the outlet nipple on the valve cover. The nipple contains a 2.2 mm orifice that meters the amount of crankcase vapors drawn out of the engine through the valve cover. A hose from the air cleaner that is connected to the other side of the valve cover supplies fresh air from the air cleaner to the crankcase.
OPERATION: The CCV system is similar to a conventional Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system, but does not use a vacuum controlled valve.
When the engine is operating, vacuum from the intake manifold draws on the metered orifice causing vapors from the engine and fresh air from the air cleaner to mix. The vapor/air mixture is drawn into the intake manifold through the metered orifice in the oil outlet nipple. The vapors are consumed during combustion.
Anyway, hope this helps! And good luck with your Jeep!

@@stevenofpa I appreciate the answer. But the plug wouldn’t be on the Valve cover, it would be on the airbox, and the valve cover would still draw air in, and out there the vaccine line in the back
