Cuppa tea on the go, lets have a watch!...nice to see your notification pop up, bet it did feel nervy....⛰❤...we often hear voices too, more often than not our own lol! Loved the stone/boulder walls, we have missed them something rotten over the past few months. Loved the picth, wow! LOADS of cups of tea is always a great reason for a picth ☕🤗❤⛰ Beautiful range and some smashing mountains, really enjoyed this one Gerry, thank you. With you on the campsite food too, quick easy and cheap! Loved that night sky, wow! 🌠🌜🥶❤ beauty of a morning for the walk out too, especially loved the tadpoles!!🐸 smashing video, thank you. Catch you again soon, Ceri and Kat 🌞🏕☕x100
Ceri & Kat, it is great to be able to travel a little further and reach the mountains as that is where my heart is😊 Wild camping, especially in a bivy just has so many positive things attached to it, even the uncomfortable sleeping and cold. Many thanks for watching and commenting👍👍
Hi Gerry, I crashed my overloaded mini van outside Attical all those years ago. Glad to hear peregrines are back in this paet of the Mournes Gerry. Decades ago it was beived that a gunman was hired by pigeon men to kill as many as possible. Not sure about the truth of this but for years there were no peregrines. Brave and nippy up there of an early morning. We have had heavy frosts for a number of days now. Good for you getting going again!
Tom, it sounds like there is a story there with this overloaded mini van!! I have heard peregrines each time have walked here, have also heard them heading up to Hare's Gap on occasion. I wonder if there is a connection with the pigeon men and Pigeon Rock Mountain? It was a bit nippy alright❄️❄️ and it definitely gets you moving about to warm up😊 The days have been glorious though☀️
Cheers Shaun, it was a brilliant trip and it was great to be back out😊 Fantastic that we are allowed to travel to some of the places that have been off limits for so long👍
Great time out gerry. End to end enjoyed your company and the mountains. Mind you them fields are something else. Empty them of stone and build the walls. Awesome. I have the Hunka XL and you've tempted me to do a bivvy next time out. It's a good bit of kit - nice and light as you mention. Hey, them cold morning eh? Nice to feel the warmth of the day emerge though. Well, good going - love them mountains. Have a cool week. Mark
Mark, really pleased with the Hunka and have a smaller sleep mat that could fit inside if it was a bit damper, a big improvement on the old army bag that someone gave me many years ago😊 I love being able to stare up at the stars whilst warm and snug, hard to beat if the weather conditions allow it. I also love that we are more in sync with nature when wild camping - whether it is working with daylight and settling down with darkness, no matter the time and that we feel the weather. Take care over there😊
@@gerrymcveigh I had another good times in one of your mountains gerry. I agree it's good strip it down and get close to the nature. I look forward to my bivvy. I will take care. Peace!
Great watch thanks for sharing could I come join you next time you heading out wild camping would love to get the drone out to these places I have my own camping gear 👍
@@gerrymcveigh here in California in the area where I live, we still have numbers climbing. I received both Pfizer vaccines. I still wear a mask and do other measures. I pray for us all. I always knew a pandemic was possible but I never expected it to happen in my lifetime or some people's reaction to it. Stay well. I enjoy your videos so much. It is so comforting to watch in these times especially.
James, the Mournes are a fantastic compact range of mountains with so much variety packed in to such a small space. A brilliant place to go walking or wild camping.
Ahh Gerry so nice to see you back out and sharing another of your adventures with us again. Great video as always, thank you. So very sad to hear of big fires ravaging the area around Slieve Donard currently, dreadful 😔
Cheers Richard. It is great to be back out camping again 😊 Agree that it looks dreadful and at a time of year that will cause real damage to new wildlife, whether it be ground nesting birds or frogs. Can't remember a fire of that size for a long time. It just shows the care required when we visit these places.
Great to have you back Gerry, thanks for taking us on your trip, a few more and you'll be back up to speed. Your shooting and editing are still great.I loved the sound cuts from the flowing water sound, to the gas burner to the pour, well done :):)
Cheers Andrew, everyone has their different way of doing things and that variety is one of the cool things about TH-cam - lots to learn from others! Thank you for your kind and supportive comment👍👍
Cheers Chris, first time I have ever been there, not much to it though a fantastic spot at the foot of the mountains. It is a small world and I am amazed sometimes at the people I bump into whilst out walking who I know through TH-cam or Facebook. Also a great starting point for heading up into the Western Mournes. It is great to be able to travel that bit further and I can't wait until can travel to the west of Ireland 😊 Thanks for watching👍
Great to see you out again Gerry, it’s been too long! Looks like you enjoyed your hike and camp and good to see your new gear too. I was looking forward to hearing how the toes got on, the burdens you pay! Those noodles cause a shake of my head every time - maybe it’s time for me to try them out to get over my super noodle bigotry 😊 Looking forward to your next adventure!
Cheers Miriam, you inspired me to get out there! I appreciate that there are those that like their camp food to have more variety and flavour😊😊 The toes were pretty good with an added layer. Looking forward to your next adventure!
Fantastic views Gerry, hopefully I'll be up the mountains soon. Did I see a grid reference on the bottom right hand corner for the wee place you camped? Cheers.
Great stuff Gerry, I did a solo over nighter on binevenagh last night she was sharp lol. I can relate to your nervousness lol but we are confident in our abilities for 1 night.
Cheers Gary, sharp is a good word❄❄ It is great to be out and I am sure there were fantastic views from up on Benevenagh. Yeah an overnighter isn't too taxing I think it is just about doing things haven't done in a long time, though it all comes flowing back easily👍👍😊
