Agreed! And the three or four original glyphs had me envisioning all the tactical grief that you can give your opponent - just like playing those first few games!
One of the big draws for me for this set were those wall pieces as a new feature. Although they look to be made of sturdy plastic, the amount of pieces that you need to string together to fill a small space and the lack of connections leaving them loose if the map is nudged is a bit of a dissapointment. I would have preferred less of those aesthetic gap fillers and hanging ends in favour of more than one of more of the larger single tile wide walls. That way you could actually cover some ground across a map in straight lines for building layouts. That said they do make a nice visual, so now I'm hoping they release these walls in a terrain set that has a more balanced collection of pieces. Hopefully in the same way that the new trees that appear in the Battle for the Wellspring starter are also featured in their own terrain expansion.
Nope. It’s not just you. The admiral should be metallic all around. And Raelin’s face and hands should be painted. Those are two pretty glaring mistakes that kind of worry me on the quality of paint jobs we get all around. If we’re paying $5 a fig, the paint jobs should at least be completed. Overall SUPER excited for this and most of the paint jobs look great, but just with the amount of figs that did have paint issues, I am fairly worried that I paid an extra $100 to only have to do quite a bit of touch ups on my own. I definitely want a finished product and want to be able to give it great reviews
Talking about scenarios. See if any of the scenarios have you build the jungle trees on lvl 2. If they do it’s a mistake. If they don’t and are shown to be built on 1v1 them it’s intentional.
Catching up on these unboxing vids. Exciting times. I’m currently up to the dwarf hero. Paint jobs are fine for Heroscape, I guess. However I don’t consider the work ‘premium’. Thanks for the uploads, Sir. Enjoy your new stuff!
@@SirHeroscape One more point - yeah, the new, cleaner-edged hexes are readily apparent. I'll be eager to see them (and everything else!) in hand and make a final judgement. Thanks again, Sir. On to your next unboxing video!
The swinging wall piece is a little goofy, and some of those paint jobs definitely leave something to be desired. It's not a good look when you're studying the paint jobs questioning whether they are complete or not. I can't get over the artwork on the front of the box, Xenithrax is just so derpy. I much preferred the AH AoA artwork (but it is what it is). The cards are growing on me, but there is too much white space on some of them and the missing lines will bug me for a while. Overall, still very excited for it to get here. I'm be waiting patiently for the week or two post GenCon to get mine in the mail. Do the cards feel more like 1st or 2nd edition RotV cards, regarding how heavy stock they are?
@@taykey17 yeah, im thinking hard about getting this and i thought the same, the paint would definitely look good with a wash, but I'll take new heroscape any day. I wonder if getting unpainted would be better but i suck at painting and I don't want them to be gray compared to the rest of my collection, or waste around $100 to look crappy. So I'll probably get the painted soon.
Oh my goodness! I definitely fell off of these videos when I thought age of annihilation wasn't going to get enough to be put back on shelves. But now that it's back out, my wallet is already hurting for what I'm about to do to it
Its really common in action figures to cast the whole figure in the most prominent color, then paint the rest. They save a lot of money and don't have to paint the whole figure that way. It also makes them look cheaper and I'm wondering why this is so expensive if they found ways to cut corners like that.
I understand I should'nt expect everything to be the Rock of Gibraltar. But come on, those walls are ridiculous. They are so flimsy, and the fact they swing open like a cat/pet door is a joke. At this point, I'd rather have the same ruins from RotV..
I don't have much to say for my opinions as most of it was stated in the first unboxing but I will say I hope a terrain pack is made for the castle walls because I really want those walls, and a very large quantity of them, the amount in the master set is a bit of a let down. What I also find a let down with the walls is the random cross shapes on top of the columns as they appear to have a purpose for connecting and stacking columns but evidently that's not the case. Your sample wall you made just made the crosses look more of an eyesore inconsistent with how walls are supposed to look. The other thing I gotta say was stated by another commenter. I love the look of xenithrax, but good luck fighting with or against her because her size is going to be making movement real difficult, whether it's moving xenithrax herself without obstacle interference, or other figures maneuvering around her
Agreed on the random cross shapes. The original, 12" G.I. Joe dolls had a very similar looking shape when their heads were removed. That's all I see on these ruins - headless G.I. Joe head mounts
Did they send any message with the review box that said things might not be completed? That EJ-M1 paint job is alarming and the walls are definitely a let down with just one large wall piece. Also watched your battle box video and not impressed with the paint jobs on those ones. It’s odd because some of the figures look really really good and some look terrible. Bok-bur-na doesn’t look anything like a marro.
I know you try to be a positive guy and keep the vibes up, but man, I would’ve been a lot more critical than you haha. Looks like half of the units have missing paint, not to mention the designs are lackluster as well. Oh well, glad to have heroscape back but I wish someone more competent was in charge.
@@kimobruns They probably won’t. Heroscape fans are so desperate for stuff and there’s no competition. Look at how much they’re willing to pay for old units on eBay. It’s a money machine whether or not Renegade tries unfortunately.

I'm glad the painting looks good. Should be cool to see them amongst older Heroscape figures.
That box is ginormous! 😮
All i can day is is it august yet so i can get mine!!! So excited and happy i got the unpainted.
My Amazon preorder was updated to "unknown" delivery date, at first, it was estimated in August. Maybe get them sooner?

well, Renegade is promoting premium paint jobs… so they must have better quality control for that price point.

Wall expansion pack when? 😅
I bet you felt this was pretty surreal :)
Raelin card should have a special attack for her tiger. Riding a beast like that should be able to do something.
The box looks way thicker than the original master set boxes. What's the depth of it?
Paint jobs badly need a wash. I know that the original HS paint jobs were fairly simplistic, but these look like what you get in a Happy Meal.
Very nice!
Going to be a hesitant buy. Not a fan of most of the units but I need more terrain. Oh well, nice to have it back.
Good luck trying to get your figure adjacent to the dragon.....beautiful but not practical on the board.
Are the cards numbered as part of the set like the originals were?
@@bobboivin1033 yes
Those columns were supposed to stack, might have to sand those down too
thats impossible to sand down; better 3D print alternatives…

No instructions or review “notice”, no
Agreed on Bok-bur-na. The figure looks like cast from a mold based on an already cast miniature. It could use an ink wash, too.
Do these new bases fit better for DnD? Heroscape medium bases typically did not fit on the squares
@@matthewong9901 not sure, maybe? Some of the new bases are definitely much smaller than the originals
My first time seeing the glyphs. Man they were lazy with the art on those. They look terrible.
