For historical accuracy the term "ROLL UP" goes back many years in Great Britain. It was used by barkers trying to gather a crowd much like "Step Right Up. That being said it made me appreciate the double entendre that much more. Great writing as usual. Such depth.
Magical Mystery tour is one of the best albums to me. Very trippy and contains 5-6 of the best Beatle songs ever made. People that told you to skip this must not know Beatles music. This is basically a soundtrack for a film so many don't consider it a studio album and it does have stuff on it that is more soundtrack oriented. Many all time classics are on here and its full on stoner type music.
This is album is definitely NOT one to be overlooked. The songs are some of their most innovative and trippy. Their will be plenty of smiles in your future while listening to this!! Get ready to enjoy!😁😵💫😄
This album has so many hits, so many of their best songs! Strawberry Fields, I Am the Walrus, Hello, Goodbye, Penny Lane, Fool on the Hill...Great album.
It's CRIMINAL that you guys don't have at LEAST double the followers. Seriously. Real reactions, by knowledgeable guys who love music and want to explore. You're enthusiasm is infectious and you're hella funny. ;) Much love to the both of you!
My dad played this and many other Beatles albums on his reel-to-reel as far back as I can remember. He also played Blood Sweat And Tears, Zeppelin, Floyd, Simon and Garfunkel. Thanks Dad❤
This is why I watch your videos. You guys hear things in music that I have missed, even on records I have listened to for 50 years. Fresh ears! Thank you!
Maybe folks said skip it because it's essentially a collection of singles and soundtrack songs for the 'Magical Mystery Tour' movie that they made for TV rather than a proper album. It's not to be skipped though, it's top stuff.
In the UK a Mystery Tour was when you bought a ticket for a coach trip not knowing where you were going to end up. The Beatles added Magical, because they could. The TV film that these songs belonged to began with the Beatles on a coach with a crowd of other people (many of them famous Brit TV names) and after a while the Tour got very psychedelic, as you can see in the videos for songs like I Am The Walrus. The album seemed to come in two formats - one was standard vinyl album size (which I didn't see till much later, and may have been an import), and one was two vinyl singles size, in a luxury booklet format containing many pages of photographs and text sandwiched between the singles. This was the version I had for many years. Watching the first broadcast of this show on TV in 1967 was one of the highlights of my adolescent life!
I literally search TH-cam every single day for new Beatles reactions. I can’t tell you how happy I was to see you guys pop up with Magical Mystery Tour. I love this album. Great choice!
I'm in the car listening to your video, and I said to my friend that this album gets no love and it's one of my favorites. Then you guys say that people told you to skip it!! Crazy. Enjoy the ride!
There are good and great songs on this album! Hello Goodbye - pop, Fool on the hill, a deeper song and I Am The Walrus, one of my favourite Beatles songs, to completely do your head it.
Guys, you made the perfect Album Choice. And Ringos drumming really shines on this opening track. As I’m typing this while watching. He just changed his entire time pattern. And La you caught it, your eyes lit up. You can’t do The White Album without listening to this one. Enjoy it my friends. Well enjoy watching them with you. Peace and Continues Success ❤
Thanks boys. I'm now 71 and have been an avid beatles fan since my school years and NEVER knew they were singing ROLL UP! I always sang the lah lahs too😂
'Roll Up' is something people would say to get you on rides etc in the UK. ("ROLL UP, ROLL UP! come and try the roller coaster! etc) I'm guessing the double meaning wasn't lost on the Beatles though
Almost pissed off to think the poll said to skip! I am the Walrus, Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane to mention a few were the hottest thing out there! People everywhere were listening to I am the Walrus BACKWARDS to hear John say “I BURRIED PAUL”. This is part of a HUGH rumor that Paul was killed in an automobile accident. EPIC FRIKKIN ALBUM !!!!
Laa and Chee! Peak psychedelic era!! I remember being 6-7 years old and just being amazed! Thanks for bringing back those memories. Chee, I remember the cartoon also!!! Man, music is the real Time Machine!! Thank you guys! Awesomely fantastic!!
One of the best Beatles release! MMT, Flying, Blue Jay Way, The fool on the Hill, i am the walrus strawberry fields, your motherbshould know....a bunch of Classic Beatles magic!

My Mom is from London, she took me and my brothers to England in 1976, we took a couple of Mystery Tours when we were staying in Bournemouth. I reckon they call them Mystery Tours because when you book the bus trip they don't tell you where you're going but you always end up at a Pub.

The first part of the album was the soundtrack to the movie of the same name, original released as an EP. They added the singles released around the same time to make it album length.
I am happy to be re-hearing this with you! I always thought they were singing "come on, the magical mystery tour", not "roll up..". Love your musically tuned ears picking out so many things I did not notice when I was young. I just listened and liked it. 😊

When the band recorded SGT. Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour it was suggested by Paul that they record the music as different people instead of themselves as The Beatles. The rest was MAGICAL.
Glad you did this before the white album. Loved this trippy album in my Dad's collection. That's how i got into the Beatles. Now i play these songs on my Guitar. Thanks Dad, Miss you. Great reaction Guys.
"Roll up" is britspeak for "sign up" -- they're saying, put your name on this list for tickets. As Paul says, "that's an invitation to make a reservation."
I'm sorry that I missed your poll, because I would have lobbied intensely for you to do MMT next. Not only because it's a great album, but because I'm hoping that you're gaining enough familiarity with the psychedelic Beatles to really appreciate them. It looks like it.😁 To your credit, I have listened to the album hundreds of times, but never got the "roll up" joint reference, which is obvious once seen, and classic Beatles. IMO their brilliant wordplay--with multiple meanings--is just as essential as their melodic/performance/production chops. I hope you really enjoy MMT. I'm still smarting from you not being impressed by Fixing A Hole, which is one of my favorites. I appreciate you, all the best to you and yours. 🙏
It's a psychedelic classic. It has bona fide 1960s classics and #1 songs plus Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane which "only" reached #2 but is arguable one of the greatest singles in rock history.
Do not skip this album, most definitely, don't skip.
Maybe my favorite Beatles album in fact. But, the stereo version is so irritating.
Agreed. I love this album. It's such a great bridge between Sgt Peppers and The White Album
