I think beatbox has leveled up to a point where the average listener has trouble connecting to it, because of the absurd level of complexity. This era was when it really connected more to what a regular ear would find pleasing. It's an interesting discussion.
being a "new school" beatboxer myself i really enjoyed how different this was it was refreshing to hear and the flow was insane it just hits you and you cant stop bobbing to the beat
Flava to the max, definitely. This reminded me how much I love a minimal style. I think lots of people now kinda have too much clutter in their beatboxing for me to connect with it
I started in 2015 and this is soooo much my type of style I like. It all evolved so quick which made me sad and happy. i encourage everyone to beatbox to how they feel like. NME is a great example
Do the Human Beatbox Convention 2004 highlight video by Schlomo for the true OG origins of the artform. That bass/whistle combo at 4:18 has kept me up for the last twenty years. Would love to hear your take on it.
Awsome series you're onto here! I'm curious where you would put Azel in terms of original sounds and overall originality. For me he is always a must-show when I help someone into the Beatbox world! "Fool, do you realize how powerfull I am?"
I appreciate what you’re doing by showing these vids. As one of the most influential beatboxes today, you hold the responsibility of passing the torch and if you wish to see the art continue, it’s a proper fine approach to building a foundation of “be yourself” and have fun, rather than “appeal to meta”. I look forward to more content. Please keep it up.
Yo at 6:24 when you said you "can't get the (first sound) resonance and the (second sound)" i actually thought the 2nd sound was pretty sick in its own right even if it wasnt quite right in your eyes.
you might have already seen it but just coz wondering how your reaction would be can you please react to dudz sbx kickback vids mainly the wildcard of demons maybe, and in a battle blud just said "beatboxing doesnt need to be complex and hard" i heard it once and that, along with the following beat, stayed in my mind till this date
Metal is similar- it is highly probable that the best metal is now in the past, and out of sight from Gen Z and Alpha. Try 20 - 30 years ago now, and they often have no idea.
If we see Beatboxing from a production perspective, some years ago there was more room for space, silences and a more sparse arrangement. Nowadays, everything is so full most of the time, which ironically makes things less spectacular, because of the lack of contrast. Newer beatboxers tend to focus much on mastering sounds to a crazy level, but they lack the sense of progression and dynamic range needed to extract the maximum artistic potential from their techniques. I think there is an opportunity looming for some pro beatboxer to focus on sharing composition/arrangement/ "production" type tutorials. The scene would be 100% benefitted from this happening.
@Dlow Beatbox - now that you've started this series of OG's i think Slykku from Italy would be a great pick for a next video. You already know Slykku but a lot of newcomers have no idea how insane and ahead of the time he was back in the 2015 era. :D
@Tocinos Rather, elitism and pretension are two words that actually are arbitrary and have no meaning in beatboxing. Music will always beat any amount of clicks and pops, and that's universal.
Dr.Mer here, thanks so much for the love buddy. We’ve been at it for a minute haven’t we? Lol Love you man 🩵
this guy is insane
u too
It feels 2012 Soundcloud dubstep in the best way possible
yuh this that old school riddim
this is becoming a great series! more classics, more grooves and identity;)
thanks for bringing in the OGs, go archive

Kind of the difference between battle rounds and Taras doing full mixed tracks
I think its good evolution. We kinda diversed to two sections. Battle Beatbox and Produced Beatbox. Now people can choose what they prefer.
@ Ya it's like sport vs art. In sports you gotta keep getting better and better to stay afloat, in art you just gotta connect to people.
I think you’re spot on.
I'm loving this "looking into the archives" contente, keep it up
Dr mer is a legend! mans been around for a very long time! God im old dlow :(
being a "new school" beatboxer myself i really enjoyed how different this was it was refreshing to hear and the flow was insane it just hits you and you cant stop bobbing to the beat

Flava to the max, definitely. This reminded me how much I love a minimal style. I think lots of people now kinda have too much clutter in their beatboxing for me to connect with it

Anything before 2016 beatbox is considered old
Yo at 6:24 when you said you "can't get the (first sound) resonance and the (second sound)" i actually thought the 2nd sound was pretty sick in its own right even if it wasnt quite right in your eyes.

OG bass!!!!!

of course I have. I am looking for someones beat thats pre 2018 and I just cant find it
Complexity is overrated. I’ll take catchy any day over it.
Watch Napom vs Bizkit
Always loved Dr. Mer, dude is dope!
Dlow, you gotta react to Pacmax vs Improver (Haten Beatbox Championship)!!
Complexity still comes second to musicality.
yeeeeaaahhh, prime examples Codfish and Dudz
Arbitrary words that have no meaning in beatboxing
@Tocinos Rather, elitism and pretension are two words that actually are arbitrary and have no meaning in beatboxing. Music will always beat any amount of clicks and pops, and that's universal.
@@petermichaelw Music is inherently complex. Again with the arbitrary words.
