Graham Hill died in a helicopter accident after retiring from F1.
In on of his interviews he was talking about 58 people he was close to who were killed in those years...
Hill actually died in an airplane that he was piloting, and five others died with him.

They were the dream team, and Francois was supposed to be Jackie’s successor, he told him everything
Cevert's injury after the crash was just horrible, the most gruesome crash in F1 history

It's easy to get emotional, for most people anyway. To be honest, I do wish we had more of that in F1 today; remember Rossi vs Biaggi in MotoGP back in the early 2000s? ;)

Emotions also can be powerful allies. But he's still right in some way..

Severely underappreciated legend from my home town. Its sad because people will only start to appreciate him as one of the greatest after he passes away...
This is unfortunately true. Some people will only bother to learn more about these living legends once they pass away and finally begin to appreciate them.

I'm from Brazil and I've watched many interviews of Emerson Fittipaldi. He always have words of praise for Jack Stewart, telling how he was fast and competitive with a clean drive, not putting other drivers in risk, a pure artist on the track and a special human being.

Legendary driver. He had some very detailed feedback on his series about cars like the '88 March or Lotus car. And he had his mistakes, too: he binned the Jaguar sportscar in the same series.

This really brings you to tears but builds you up at the same time... such a great, humble person. A true hero, a living legend. He went through so much but never forgot who he is. He's a great inspiration for everyone, not just young drivers. May his soul be blessed with light.
I remember you driving before the drivers strike in F1. You survived. Few did.

I remember following his career when I was a young lad. In my young mind, I envisioned him as a Craftsman instead of a driver. To see him walking around the Paddock, carrying that signature white helmet with the Tartan image. That may as well been his lunch bucket to me because he was there to do his days work with the pride of a Scotsman. Wise words from a wise man.

Sir Jackie Stewart, a belated happy birthday. You got a long way in life, and given your profession you have an awful lot of things to be proud of. Your passion for safety in F1 has been an additional accolade to your fame but most importantly your driving skills made you who we know you for being. A most worthy champion.
