Nice comparison Darren. I haven't taken the plunge yet and the reason is that i'm concerned about getting the Neo back if you're on a moving platform. The Mini series when doing say a dronie, loses tracking but comes back to the GPS point it set off from. Its usually not an issue on a boat as you have the controller at hand and just fly the drone to you. However if you use the Neo with the quickshot buttons only, will it come back to you if it loses the tracking? If not then it could be slightly flawed in that respect.
I have both...The Neo is better..but the X-1 is smaller. I use the X-1 in automatic mode only..the NEO I will fly with my phone / or my DJI controller... I bought the NEO vs the X-1 Pro / Pro max version. The DJI NEO wins on price..and it helps that I already have all the other controllers + googles.
Who gives a shit? The X1 Drone is almost damn near double the price. It would be actually more than double if he listed the msrp price. Fair comparison is when you compare based on value.
Hi, I have a question. I’m new to drones and I wanted the Neo and put it on order and went ahead and bought the RC2 controller for it. Well when the controller arrived I turned it on and did updates and it says there are no fly zones in my area. I just moved to this location and there is a private airport nearby. Well I went ahead and cancelled my Neo order. I really only wanted this little drone for in my house and in my yard to video my dogs. Is it possible that it can work. Someone said it should if I fly it low. I just want to be sure before I sell the controller and go with the Hover X1. Thank You!
I want to use the Neo from a moving boat so I have to ask, will it return to the person flying it without a controller since they will have moved from the take off point? What happens if it flies out of range of your phone, or will it even do that? It has so many possibilities and ways to fly, it brings up many questions. I am also waiting for the new Hover drone which seems to have changed from the X2, to X1 Pro or Pro Max. Also hoping for a Neo 2 with a better camera and rear and side sensors, or all around. They will likely cost more too.
I wouldn’t fly any drone from a moving boat but the Neo will be worse that most. Wind is an issue and may mean the drone will crash into the water before making it back to the boat particularly with the light weight of the Neo. There are plenty of videos online showing this.
Haven't tried to see what happens using phone to control it and purposely going out of range yet... Won't work if its in stand-alone mode though.. will return to where you started.

And from the already 50+ videos on the Neo, I think the X1 follows better. Where Neo wins is that it can go over water, that's the pain point for me with the X1, it's so limited in it's areas it can go. The price is what is the biggest disappointment. DJI has it right, at around $80 Canadian up here, it's way more worth that than the X1 is worth $600 up here...luckily I got a decent discount on a sale, but $500 is still way over priced for it. And the Pro and Max being $200-1400 up here and that's their Indiegogo early special pricing?? Are you kidding me Hover? That's insane and there's nothing about those drones that makes them worth that price.
Thanks for the comparison! Question for you... in the previous Neo video you mentioned that it can be flown inside (safer with prop guards). Does it need GPS lock to fly? Thanks
@DonGivani I'm not flying low on water. Just the palm launch sometimes on the bridge if I do circle or drone it will fly out from bridge to se or water. Will it be a problem?
One other comparison is the apps for your phone. The Hover can be used with the Hover app on any Android phone, the DJI requires a 1000€ phone to work! Kind of defeats the object of a 199€ drone. I bought one to take when travelling, now I will have to take the RC2 controller or buy another phone. Come on DJI, pull your finger out! UPDATE - After a lot of messing about I got the DJI app to install on a non supported device.
Not a fair comparison IMO. Everything that he pulled out for the Neo is extra. The X1 was first, and Neo basically copied every function and made it better. That was the easy part. I can't wait until the comparison comes out for the X1 Pro. Undercut the price as well. If the DJI Neo came out first, I'm sure the cost would be more.

I couldn't fly NEO due to geofencing I had to unlock and fly... A bummer because none of the reviewers mentioned it. For such a tiny drone that fly without a controller I was surprised to find it! 😔 None the less it is a fun little drone!
The big difference is the DJI Neo has GPS and the HoverAir X1 doesn't. It's funny how drone reviewers don't mention it. They talk about what it can do, but not why that is. The Neo is both a optical flow selfie drone and a GPS drone. And on top of that FPV. Now the real potential of the Neo will only come soon as a third party app like Litchi, Maven or Dronelink is compatible. They will most likely add GPS follow-me.
It's like you have to favour it for DJI, because you compare irrelevant features. It's portable flying AI camera. You have to compare tracking (like you did in last star), revovery, image quality and so on, where DJI looses absolutely. Don't forget for upcoming Hover X1 pro and pro max with much better quality and flying capabilities.

@@DMProductions yes, I know I am going to have crashes. That's why I want to start with the Neo. My FPV drone is the Avata2 and my photo/video drone is the Mini3 Pro. The video quality of the Dji Neo is very poor. If it’s a fun flight experience you want, you’re much better off getting a remote controlled radio toy. If it’s a camera shot you want, don’t go Neo! Video is terrible on anything other than a phone.
Why should this SHOCK ME, Darren? This is exactly what DJI planned to do. ZeroZero is having huge sales roght now, 25% & 30% off and its STILL more expensive. They also have an X1 PRO now, longer flight times and a few tweaks. DJI does not like competition... competing!
DJI went in the wrong direction by adding more. We need less. We need something that the FAA can't touch, even for commercial purposes. When I first read about the Hover Air X1's max altitude of 15 meters, and range of 30 meters, I thought they might be onto something that would be perfect for my needs.
I can almost guarantee DJI is going to release more firmware capabilities in the coming months that will unlock more flexibility and flights characteristics. Just you waiting

I couldn't fly NEO due to geofencing I had to unlock and fly... A bummer because none of the reviewers mentioned it. For such a tiny drone that fly without a controller I was surprised to find it! 😔 None the less it is a fun little drone!
The Neo seems better than the Hover air X1 but Not the New Hover air pro max, However Cost will be a deciding factor.
Exactly, looking forward to testing the new hover and comparing it
Just wait for the Pro and Pro Max
And for sure an added cost 😅
@@carlsberxithub3711 Of course, but it will be so much better than the Neo.
Why he should listen to u?😂
@@ultramanx9568 He should't^ but if he have dignity^ he cam mark the video as paid promotion 😂 and maybe someone like you think about to do more research about X1 🙃
I have both prefer the hover form factor but I'll probably keep both
I agree with you, love the ability it folds and the tracking is great
@@DMProductions
And in mean the video quality of the Hover is a little bit better.
I was on the verge of buying a DJI Neo, but that horrendous noise - no! Since I already have a Mini 4 Pro remote I was also disappointed that to get the essential additional batteries the UK combo (unlike the US one) forces you to buy a remote you don't need.
You are the first one who said that picture and video are better at the Neo….Everyone is saying isn’t good as the x1 ….🤔
Because this is NEO commercial, and the irony is that I like DJI. 😆
And a single battery for the neo is 39 dollars US.
Neo no brainer... i wanted the X1 when it first came out.. but never pulled the trigger
Maybe Zero Zero need to have a rethink and bring the price down of the Pro & ProMax to compete with the Neo.
they lost that battle last week
Feel this is a bit biased. Yes Neo is better value for money but you didn’t mention portability. X1 folds and is smaller. And you didn’t mention portrait filming which most social media users will like. I suspect X1 price will drop dramatically soon too.
Hey, I mentioned x1 shoots 9:16 also. I also said I really like the design and how it folds in this video.
I have a hover x1 it’s ok but really looking forward to Neo in the US next month 😢😂
Yes hover is very cool I like it but for the price Neo is better
Great review Darren. Maybe I can keep my kidneys rather than sell one for the Mini4 pro!!! lol. Look forward to a comparison with the new Hover air max/ pro..
haha its a great deal for sure!
Who needs 8K?
a lot of companies market 4k, 5k, 6k, 8k and in reality its an over sharpened mess so I look forward to testing this claim
@@DMProductionsya DJI seems pretty good at backing up their claims in my opinion. I’m a big user of 4k 60 10 bit color and that’s pretty amazing. Who really does need 8k?! I want to know
@@DMProductions I agree. On a typical viewing distance you don't see the difference betwenn 1080p and 4K. It's a worthless industry scam.
@@chainbenwa2713 Wasting already four times your storage for 4K?
@@danielduesentriebjunior lol everyone says that. But storage is cheap
Japan laws are so strict that u need a spotter for the follow mode lol. And over 100g is a no go. That’s why hover have the hover x1 smart (99g)
If you’re going to payout close to a grand go for DJI Mini 4 or 4 Pro. Costco is selling the DJI Mini 4 Pro at $750 bucks U.S.
I am waiting for the DJI Mini 5 Pro before I make my decision. No matter the decision you cannot go wrong with DJI.
Appreciate the video comparison.
Thank you, no mini 5 pro anytime soon
@@DMProductionsthat’s what was said just before the release of the mini 4 pro.
I bought the Neo because I am starting to fly the Avata2 in Manual mode (until now just in simulator).
I want to be proficient flying FPV with the Neo before going to the Avata2.
After that or I will sell the Neo or if family wants I will keep the Neo for them.
This is a good idea, I’ve used manual on both and the Neo is definitely capable but the avata 2 is obv much more powerful especially in any winds.
@@DMProductions yes, I know I am going to have crashes. That's why I want to start with the Neo.
My FPV drone is the Avata2 and my photo/video drone is the Mini3 Pro. The Neo is just to start learning Manual FPV. But the easy quick shots of the Neo maybe will be good for the kids of my family when I start flying Manual with the Avata2.
The neo will 100% drain the battery before it hits the 04 range limit.
Great Video! I love the comparison
Thanks for watching!
Love u my crush❤
I have both...they are both quite different...I like the size of the Hover X-1....I like the idea the Neo can be used with other DJI controllers I have...I have a mini 4 Pro andf a Mavic Air if I want to do real Drone stuff. I hike and bike so I need something very light and compact. The NEO will not fly 10 kms...
Buy the HoverAir Pro Max 😮
Damn right. Soon it drops at amazon..... SOLD.
It’s on way ☺️
QUESTION 4 YOU: Is A Pilots license required? Commercial I am sure it is a yes BUT for recreational?????😐
hoverair x1 pro max is the one to compare. You know this. Whats going on?
I mention this at the end of the video, the hover pro max is also 3x the price. I’ll test it but price is huge difference
Comparing an old drone with a new one?? Wait for the Hoverair X1 Pro. Far superior.
Poor comparison on a drone that is over a year old... Hoverair was the first on the market. Try comparing it to the HoverPro.
Where you really missed the boat on your comparison was the geo-fencing. DJI has it and hover air doesn't. I'd pay an extra 100 bucks for a drone that doesn't have it.
why would you compare it to a "pro"? and way way more expensive?
@@chickenporkadob0 because it's in the same class of drone. Even though it's more expensive, there's more technology into it. DJI is pretty much Johnny come lately. As said before geo-fencing is a huge deal, should have mentioned it in your video
@@510BIGD it's like comparing iphone 16 to iphone 16 pro max. same category but for the more money means more features. maybe next year when they came up with neo 2 pro will be a better comparison.
Thanks for the review but I don't want a drone that won't last battery life longer then an hour and it would be a waste of money
I've ordered a dji neo I have the rc2 with my air 3 and goggles 3 so I need to order the remote control 3 now tho it is very expensive for everything tho I have an air 3 and a dji fpv and a dji phantom 3 too so the neo will be a nice convenient little drone too I'm looking forward to the neo as an fpv drone with acro and learn to fly that before I get to try acro on my dji fpv lol reason is the neo is far less expensive than my dji fpv lol
You can use the RC2 controller with the Neo so no need to get the RCN3.
you can use it with the RC 2
Can I use the acro mode with rc2 or the fpv controller 3 because I do need to purchase the fpv 3 if I do thank u love your videos by the way
DJ Neo for sure. It's a no-brainer.
Chinese drone tech is light years ahead of the competition.
Its 160£ , its lightweight, already have all accesories, so of course it worth buying, just for fun!
In order to purchase a neo you have to show proof that you live near the woods
hell you talking about.
🙂❤👍
🤜🤜
if they dropped the price to $100 on the X1.. Maybe itd be worth it. but they've been priced out in terms of what you get.
DJI does not like competition... competing!
I think hover needs to have a 50% sale on the x1 😂. I’m keen to show you the x1 pro max results soon
DJI went in the wrong direction by adding more. We need less. We need something that the FAA can't touch, even for commercial purposes. When I first read about the Hover Air X1's max altitude of 15 meters, and range of 30 meters, I thought they might be onto something that would be perfect for my needs.
In terms of price and overall comparison the neo is better.
Call me when the spark can fly full manual mode with fpv goggles.
I can almost guarantee DJI is going to release more firmware capabilities in the coming months that will unlock more flexibility and flights characteristics. Just you waiting
👏
Äpfel mit Birnen vergleichen…. Wenn man von all den hier so hervorgehoben Extras etwas gebrauchen will ( Brille Controller etc ) ist man schnell über 1000€ , und dan ist die Avatar2 sicher eine bessere alternative
