    Great to see others are camping out of their SUV's as well! My wife and I are sixty years old and still camp out of our 4Runner when we want to get away for a few days. We do still pitch a tent for longer stays however.
    Even after 45 years of camping I still learned a few tricks! Kudos!

      Here are a couple suggestions to make the cook set a little better if you're solo. Ditch the two green cups. Then add an Ozark Trail (Walmart) stainless steel cup, found on a shelf near the Stanley cook set. It fits nicely on the bottom. To make it secure without any bands, etc, put a thin cup koosie on the Stanley, then the OT cup will fit snug. This also helps prevent soot from getting in the cup. Bonus, the red silicone collapsible cup Walmart sells for around $2, fits perfectly, and I meam perfectly, in the bottom of the fuel canister (shown in the video), giving it a little more surface grip, and/or providing a nice nested cup or bowl.

    We usually have our two burner stove and such when we car camp...but I love that little set up you have! You have a very pleasant voice to listen to and as others have mentioned, I like your examples of why you would want certain little devices. The pee bottle is a great idea. Easier for the guys, although I have been known to make do with a simple freezer baggie, lol.

    I have a compact stove like the one you show. I have read that you should not use wind screens for those type of stoves because the fuel cannister can overheat and explode. A wind screen should only be used with stoves that have a fuel line which allows you to place the cannister outside of the windscreen. I have that kind of stove as well. The former is what I take backpacking, the latter is what I use for car camping.

    I have the same stove. I got it before they tripled in price. Lol. All the way from China for $2.95. I also have the same windscreen for my induction stovetop. Thanks for sharing.

    Wow! That was a lot of info/tips in a short period of time. Kudos! Although I noticed this is 5 years old I'm wondering if they still have these items available? 🤔 I am definitely going to check out the links. Thanks! 🙂

    Great video! Really cool, compact and useful items. I am very much into compact, space saving gadgets. I don't care much for the air vent device holders. They are just begging to bust off a flimsy, plastic louver in my opinion.

      I've used vent holders for years and never had a problem with one messing up a louver, but your mileage may vary. Thanks for watching!

    Awesome list, now I don't live out of my car but I do camp with it, how could I not since I have a 2003 Pontiac Aztek with the camping set up. The camping set up consist of the very first auto tent, built in compressor, full size air mattress (which I don't use, I went a size smaller to have more space) and the cargo storage tray, oh yeah rear stereo controls too. However, since I'm involved in Emergency Service I also carry 2 medium sized fire extinguisher a bag with a fireproof cover alls, boots, helmet and gloves, HazMat class C suite, my SAR pack and my water rescue gear. I also have lots of different sources of light and several different kinds of knives. One of my favorite EDC items is a USB recharger that is also solar with multi device cable.
    I also have a Stanly cook pot but I don't use the cups because the way my setup is on my SAR pack.
    Okay I can go on forever so I'm going to stop here

      Hi Theresa, thanks for the great comment. Sounds like you've got a great setup that works well for you. I'm familiar with the Aztec, of course, but I didn't know there were tents made for it. I just looked it up, and it looks awesome. I know there are similar tents out there for other vans and SUVs with the rear door that opens upward (mine opens to the side, so they don't work for my RAV4). How's the gas mileage on your Aztec?

      @SUVRVing  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great to hear that you like your Aztek so much! Shame they don't make them anymore. The Firebox stoves look interesting, but I don't know how useful I'd find them. I already have a stove that runs off of liquid canister fuel, and I often camp either in the desert (where there's nothing to burn) or in places with burn bans. That Pocket Bellows is genius, though!

    Just pee in a Gatorade bottle. Way cheaper and you can just recycle are replace every few months. I keep a couple in the van. The V8 super greens bottles work well too.

    One caution about a vent clip phone holder. If it's cold and the heat is on your phone is likely getting too warm. I've had mine overheat and shut down using one, so I stopped using them.

      Ah, that is an excellent question. I couldn't find any that seemed like they would work for me, so I made my own. It works great, and I actually plan on offering them up for sale in the next month or so. Stay tuned!

    • @Gwen3344
      @Gwen3344 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Add me to the list of interested viewers as I can't find one either that meets my needs. I, too, was going to make my own, but perhals now I don't have to? Very interested, but a couple of months may be too long. Willing to wait as long as possible though, as I have a few other modifications that will take at least a month (I think) to finish. So hope this is extra incentive for you to make them available. Thanks.
