Actually, staring at the carpet can reveal whether or not there is an infestation of insects. You wouldn't want the government to shut down down the business because of fleas.

And let us not forget that even asking for help finding the pen shows how much he cares about company property!
This brings back memories. I had a manager who was always loosing his pens. All of us employees kept a pen on our ID lanyards, so when he lost his he would walk by and 'borrow' one of ours.. then loose it. We went through boxes after boxes of pens. Finally one day I was in a convenience store and saw one of those large novelty pens. I bought it, took it to work, hung it on our manager's lanyard while stating, "Try and loose this one." It was meant to be a joke, but he never lost it! Over a decade later I saw him at another store and he STILL had that pen. He just replaced the ink cartridge every time it ran out.

I'm worried about Rowans mental health now - normally he would insist he was in an important meeting but now he just doesn't care enough to hide the fact that he doesn't work, a classic symptom of depression. Its OK to not be OK Rowan, we're here for you ❤
But Rowan was doing important work, like testing how much ink is in a pen, stress test the chair, inspect the wall if it needs painting, ect.

I imagine Rowan knew where the pen was the entire time he just wanted to flex on Alan that he doesn't have to work.
We can usually tell when he's saying things maliciously, and this did not appear to be one of those times.
He just tosses it back in, undoing all of that, and leaving them back where they started, with each of them just a little more pissed off. 😂

This is so fascinating; it's the first one that I've seen that starts from Rowan's point of view. Inside a dim, off-white room with no one around, I can understand how that isolation would lead him to believe that everyone should come to him and obey his every whim. /lh
The first line Allan talk about finding the pen is so relatable, like if I remember the thing, I would have found it lol, always get so angry with those kind of question when you asking for help
Same with the question "Are there anything you forget to bring" whenever I'm going out.

I was not disappointed.
Everytime I say "When/Where did you see it last time?" everyone shouts at me like Rowan shouts at Alan, and then they frantically panic, yell and curse, as if performing a magic ritual which will find the missing object. Please people, that technique works!
Rowan is the best representation of real life managers that I have ever seen! Always somehow simultaneously "extremely busy" and doing absolute f**k all at the same time!
