    This bike is a solid value and it's fast! Would you ride a mid/high end XC hardtail?

    I'd put a PNW Cascade dropper on there. Nice clean install for an external routed dropper.

    This isn’t the old “Bud Jet Sports” tour!!! Your legs are the throttle and the arm pump I can imagine follows up with the thigh and calf cramps which is I assume a whole other form of post ride aches and pains!!!! You gotta love it!!!! You are the “Chandler”of the TH-cam realm and everyone knows Chandler was a good man!!! Lol. All the best on your racing career i hope you win em all!!!

    I notice it's now $1,500. It's nice to see a budget carbon XC bike that comes with a solid entry level fork (i.e. not a Recon) and Shimano SLX group set (albeit minus the chain). It is a little heavy OOTB (even Specialized's aluminum Chisel is a pound or two lighter), but we saw what the tires weighed. I'm curious how the frame's weight compares to that of the Specialized. For a modern aluminum bike, the Chisel is light.

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't weigh the frame, but it's very light. I did a follow-up video where we upgraded, weighed, and tested various parts. You'll be surprised where most of the weight is.

      Thanks! I actually watched that video shortly after commenting. I'm not sure I'd upgrade the fork, with my budget, but I'd certainly change out the tires and do a tubeless setup. Still, I would be curious to see the final weight of a Chisel if I were to do the same tire + tubeless setup. The Chisel is currently $1350, which is nice. My gripe is that it comes with a Rockshox Judy and a SRAM SX drive train. Right out of the box, the Polygon has a better fork and drive train.
      EDIT: I just realized Polygon only deals through an online dealer; the bike is not $1,500 as Polygon says, but still $1,800 per bikesonline. I added up the cost of buying an on-sale Specialized Chisel and fitting it with SLX 7100 group (chain included), and the total came out to $1734. The only problem is that that still leaves the fork. And, although I hoped to replicate the setup, I can't find this elusive "Fox Rhythm 32" anywhere. My guess is that it'd be about $350 MSRP. Might only go with the Specialized if I can pull the SX Eagle group and Recon fork and re-sell them for a total of ~$500. If I could get a SID and a new rear wheel+Shimano-compatible hub for around $600, that would complete the Chisel for me.

    I know it's for XC but I kinda wish companies would stop putting 27.2 on mountain bikes.

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Definitely more common on XC bikes. I imagine it's for weight savings. I also find there isn't much insertion depth on many XC bikes due to the bottle cage bosses. So it limits the amount of drop you can use.

    Another nice vid! This bike is like the carbon version of the Xtrada 7, which I have and love, although I did upgrade a decent amount, like Hunt trailwide wheels, Pike Ultimate fork, and PNW dropper post, Deore 2 piston brakes, etc. The price of the new bike took the sting out of the upgrades cost, but I like it much more than friends' bikes that cost almost than double what I paid for the bike and upgrades.

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I love the Xtrada! The Syncline is very similar in geometry. So, this is a natural transition for me. It's already a lightweight bike, but there is a lot of potential for serious weight reduction. Sub 25lb is easily within reach and, dare I say, sub 20lb is attainable. This will be a fun project. 😁

    If I was gonna buy a Syncline I'd probably go with the C5, especially at $1899. Based on the vid it looks like the C2 has a slightly different frame, most notably in the area where the top, down and head tubes meet.
    Would you be able to get a weight on the C5 out of the box and after the tire upgrade? Thank you. Always love your vids, especially the review vids. I'll be rooting for you in your upcoming races too.

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The C2 is the 2021 frame, which is slightly different but same geo. I weighed the stock C5 at 28lb. I swapped to a light and fast casing vigilante and Trail Boss combo, and it's down to 26lbs. Those are still not the lightest tires out there. There's a lot of potential to shave more weight on this bike. I'll get more into it in the next video. Thanks for the kind words. 🙏 This is going to be an interesting season.

    Hello! Nice video! I am very interested in this bike. I have a question about sizing. I am as well 5'9" (175cm). Polygon put us in between M and L. Since you are also 5'9, how did you decided for M? Have you ever had the wish of a longer stem?

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few factors. The reach relative to the seat tube angle is already within my comfort zone. On a hardtail, your effective reach increases at sag. I haven't felt the need for a longer stem. Also, I have shorter legs, so I prefer a bike with a shorter seat tube. I've never wished for a longer Syncline.

  • @gepeck1021
    @gepeck1021 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What size tyres (width) do you have on the C5 now? I know it comes with 2.25" but what would be the max possible width for frame and fork clearance? Thanks

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Currently, I have 2.30in tires front and rear. It looks like you can fit a 2.40 or possibly a 2.50, depending on the tire. The fork looks to have room for a 2.50. On a 29er, anything bigger than 2.40 will just slow this bike down, IMO.

    Do you have any sizing advice? I have a C5 in Large and it feels too big (I'm 5'9 or 176cm). Unfortunately I couldn't try a Medium before purchasing...what are your thoughts after riding the Syncline? Also your height and the frame size you chose? Thanks a lot!

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm 5'9 on a size medium 29er. I find the fit to be near perfect for me. I have a full ride review releasing on Friday that should give more insight. A large IMO is likely too big. Out of curiosity, did you choose the size based on the reach number?
