This is the start of when the NBA changed. A lot of this generation of players say today’s NBA is soft, but it started right around 2008. It was, and has been, unbearable to watch the quality of defense erode to what it is today.
@@mornwood1011Lol Larry Hughes isn't in the conversation. The answer is Mo Williams but the other guys with an argument are Big Z, Varejao and Carlos Boozer. Ben was solid for the Cavs but definitely past his prime.
Bill Russell was the best ever. Dude averaged over 3 blocks a game before they started keeping track of that stat. He averaged 20 rebounds for his entire career. Which is insane if you think about it.
Props to Ben Wallace (who is a monster) on a solid game 7, but let's not get it twisted. Kevin Garnett averaged 19.6pts, 53.7 FG%, and 10.8 Reb for the whole Cavs series. All at or above his regular season average.
The best defender in modern day basketball!! And this is after his prime, in his prime( 2001-2006) he was Dennis Rodman but just a much better shotblocker! He has all kinds of records defensivley but the most impressive is how little fouling he actually did considering him going after every offensive play! In my opinion he's up there with the best defenders/rebounders of all time(Russell, Chamberlain, Rodman, Mutombo)
At rebounding he was crap after Pistons. Defense was still there. He was not the A version of Ben Wallace anymore. He was the C version and his rebounding was gone and his scoring dropped more. He was basically a defensive specialist and not a defensive and rebounding specialist anymore. Best place to put him would be bench player and play him about 20 minutes to degrade offense. But as a starter at this time he hurts your team more than helps it because his rebounding is not there and Kevin Garnett outrebounded him as if Ben Wallace was a average rebounder.
These ref's singlehandedly stop LeBron from going to his second straight ECF then nba finals cuz he was on a different level early on in his career #GOAT JAMES

@@mornwood1011Lol Larry Hughes isn't in the conversation. The answer is Mo Williams but the other guys with an argument are Big Z, Varejao and Carlos Boozer. Ben was solid for the Cavs but definitely past his prime.
rough times for lebron back then, big Ben was a monster though in that paint. the good old days for the green 3 anyhow
Probably two of my favourite players in a match up? Wonderful.
he might be the best defender ever.
Bill Russell was the best ever. Dude averaged over 3 blocks a game before they started keeping track of that stat. He averaged 20 rebounds for his entire career. Which is insane if you think about it.
I'll give it to rodman
+AnTi ZioNisM nah, Perkins has the best defense of anyone ever, even that racist hoe bag Bill Russell
+Cdub2k bill russell doesn't count.
+Andrew Fitzgerald perkins? Lol u a funny dude
I know that Garnett is a beast but, head to head with big Ben?! That is crazy, Ben is a monster.
Old rodman when he was with Jordan
Everyone: he was one of the star with Jordan
Ben when he was with LeBron
Everyone: LeBron just done it all himself
Wallace was old and Mike had Scottie although Mike is the GOAT.
Big.ben never,ever back down to anyone"@beast!!!#3
What a bunch of horse shit calls on Ben. Coming from a heat fan that doesn't like anyone on the court besides lebron, Ben was getting bullshitted
Ben would whoop KG. Definitely one of the league's most intimidating players of his time.
Ben Wallace is like Kawhi Leonard's long lost father. Straight up DEFENDERS! Two of the best defenders in the NBA history.
Props to Ben Wallace (who is a monster) on a solid game 7, but let's not get it twisted. Kevin Garnett averaged 19.6pts, 53.7 FG%, and 10.8 Reb for the whole Cavs series. All at or above his regular season average.
Omg they called a moving screen
The rules changing did a lot to Ben wallaces game over the years
Lesson learned: Don't make Big Ben Wallace angry.
Ben Wallace, master of defense
Wallace was the greatest defensive player to ever play the game. Garnett is no match for him even though Wallace is past his prime here.
Ben Wallace Dennis rodman some beasts on the block.
Maybe should have put Big Z on Kevin and let Ben roam around.
Ben Wallace is washed at that point but still has that tenacious defensive ability.
Big Ben knows D. Not just individual but Team D. Everything slows down when he's out there.
Ben Wallace was a beast💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
BEST DEFENDER OF ALL-TIME!
He was straight trash once he left Detroit for that big $$$
At rebounding he was crap after Pistons.
Defense was still there.
He was not the A version of Ben Wallace anymore.
He was the C version and his rebounding was gone and his scoring dropped more.
He was basically a defensive specialist and not a defensive and rebounding specialist anymore.
Best place to put him would be bench player and play him about 20 minutes to degrade offense.
But as a starter at this time he hurts your team more than helps it because his rebounding is not there and Kevin Garnett outrebounded him as if Ben Wallace was a average rebounder.
Dennis Rodman is best defender of all time, hands down.
nah its hakeem or bill russel
This was a great series i miss those times
When basketball was worth watching 😢
Who hotboxed this stadium?
Man what an names playing...this was NBA. I loved Celtics Boston and my fav player was KG!
Garnett knew better then to fuck with Ben Wallace lol
am I seeing fog or mist in the arena?
2 player in nba history won 4x defensive player or the yr ben and dikembe..
Cavs had the best defensive team in the league after getting wallace but media says lebron played with scrubs
Wallace was old and without Lebron Cleveland is bottom of the league so yes that team was garbage.
I wonder what KG stat line was for that game. Wow, in BOS great yr. of '08 they was only up 3 with 35 sec. left with CLE having the ball.
You can tell they had respect for each other's will to win
Back when 100 points a game was alot😂 the game is so much different now
In 2008 the average was literally 99.9 ppg
The game was slower back then because it was an old man game. Guys was drinking alcohol and smoking cigars while playing poker before the game.
These ref's singlehandedly stop LeBron from going to his second straight ECF then nba finals cuz he was on a different level early on in his career #GOAT JAMES
Watching those fouls on Wallace kinda shows refs control the game and the nba def wanted the Celtics to win this game forsure lmao
Thank you and God bless.
NBA game don’t feel like this no more. Hell nfl don’t even feel the same.
I'd take Wallace over Garnett any day. The man was a beast!
Had no idea the Celtics had to fight like that before the ecf on their way to the championship. Big Ben gave Garnett fits!!!
Celtics should’ve swept this team and the Hawks
+Ishtiyaq Rettik next year too, as they were beaten by the magic in conf. finals.
ilgauskas was such a bum, he 7`2 and cant grab a board. boston with all those 2nd chance opportunities.
I agree
He had bad feet, lost about two years of his career early on trying to heal from the same type of break that would later end Yao Mings career. Just the fact that he was able to play 10 years of pro ball is miraculous
+Cheema0113 dude moves like a snail.
nigga can only score in the post and isn't a great one at that
Thank you lol
Did the ref call a blocking foul on Ben Wallace for getting pushed into the other side of the court?
Was so close to a Lakers and Cavaliers finals :( and in 2009
Was it raining in the arena??
Was snoop in the stands??
The fact that hes so strong makes up for him being undersized, he moves pretty well to
K.G don't want any smoke with Wallace,.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣... Wallace would mop that toothpick up.. lmao
Boy the Cavs couldn't get a rebound
those calls on Big Ben ware so unfair
man, I forgot how inept that Cavaliers front office was/is. They gave Lebron NOTHING to work with smh
Was the building on fire or was this before some sort of arena-wide smoking ban?
back when they had those strange camera angles
I wish the NBA could be like this again
Like what
why was it so foggy in the stadiumj look liek smoke
Ben Wallace or Bill Russell (Serious question)
