    I hope you have even just the slightest idea of how much you’re helping us all here. Even when we have our own therapists, sometimes it just gets so tough that you need to listen to someone making sense , and listen to them right away. ❤

    Things that I avoid - resolving conflict, asserting my needs, self advocating, self disclosing my feelings & more. I think it has a lot to do with my mother. Think she’s a narcissist. I find it hard to do these things with people that aren’t safe. I struggle doing this with my therapist.

    Another great video. I have been diagnosed with Avoidant Personality Disorder. Avoiding avoidance has been a tough gig through life. My coping strategies have been pretty draining at times, keeping a lot of past data in my head. Getting into my late fifties has been a help, funnily enough: life slowing down yet becoming richer somehow.

    What makes people BECOME Intolerable of Uncertainty. It seems like not having needs met as a child....so you try to hedge your bets against future neglect.

    What about avoidance of uncertainty in the long term? It is harder to collect data there, right? e.g. career decision

  • @daejinvillain
    @daejinvillain 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Dr Nader, if you realize avoidance is not due to intolerance of uncertainty and you just are disinterested, how do you do it anyway? I guess the behavior experiment still works! haha. Thanks for the help!

      Sometimes these conditions are caused by many different factors. The key isn't to figure out what caused it, but more to focus on what's keeping it going.

    Thank you so much for this video it's helped me understand the worry to anxiety
    I would like to know if anxiety is about emotions in this case.
    How do I control the emotions.

    I have worked through the worry but I am still anxious
    Can you help me with this please

      Hi Lynda - I'm not sure I understand your question, because anxiety is an emotion. People manage anxiety by addressing the stressor or problem that's causing the anxiety and/or changing negative thinking and behavior patterns that are contributing to anxiety.

      I can't work out what emotion anxiety is as it feels bad
      eg if I was sad I know what that is
      Or happy
      Do you know what I mean ?
